Thinking about seeing "Super" soon. Anyone have an opinion on it?
I'm one of the few that didn't find it amazing. I liked it though, it's sometimes weird and has some moments in which you don't know if you should laugh or feel shocked/surprised. Good movie anyhow.
Watched Chronicle for the 2nd time. Really like it. 7/10

I also like that movie, but damn it sure is short.
The Jason Bourne Identity
P cool. Great action. The car chase with the Mini was great. Dragged on a bit too much towards the end.
And the part where he uses a dead guy as a cushion while jumping down a stairwell, and headshots a guy mid-air was ridiculous!!
The Jason Bourne Supremacy (thats the sequel right?)
Really boring and uninteresting. The russian hitman was literally the most uninteresting bad-guy ever.
Only good part was when Bourne spoke to that woman while having his crosshair on her, and he goes like "she's standing right next to you". but then they pulled the same thing at the end, without any of the impact lol.
Pineapple Express
A very funny movie I liked it.
Seth Rogan is a cool guy I like him.
Also, the boss from Office Space plays the bad-guy how great is that?
A: It's pretty great.
Seven Psychopaths
This was a really great movie. All around very good. Loved the metaness, the humor, and Walken.
I recommend it v much
Office Space 7/10. I don't think much needs to be said.
Stand by Me.
Movies like this generally aren't my cup of tea, but I liked it a lot. There were plenty of emotional segments, but humor was sprawled all throughout it. The narrative aspect of the movie was also well-integrated. Some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy, but it's excusable for an old-ish film depicting an even older time period.
I give it an 8/10.
Dredd 3D - 8/10
underrated as hell
[editline]a[/editline]
well maybe not underrated but more unpopular.
they only gained like 1/5th of the budget, fucking outrageous if you compare it to breaking dawn part 2
Fight Club - 9/10
Wow that ending was fucking brilliant.
Taxi Driver - 6/10
I know this movie is a classic, but I just couldn't get into it. The acting was superb and I liked how unrelentingly unpleasant and gritty it was, but I felt next to nothing for the characters or the overall plot.
I felt nothing.
that's not a great review.
that's not a great review.
Perhaps not, but this is a rating thread after all.
I'm working on a brief write-up for class about the film, so perhaps I can better explain myself with that. For now, I don't know how to say it better than I felt apathetic towards the characters or the plot. That doesn't make it a bad movie on an objective level (objectively I thought it was very well made and I respect it for that), but I just didn't enjoy it.
objectively I thought.
How can you personally think for more people than yourself?
You didn't enjoy it and you gave no reasons other than you felt nothing.

And why does that bother you so much? I think the film was well made (cinematography and acting especially, the former of which I consider to be more of an objective element of film), but I didn't care for it. I honestly don't know what to say here.
I thought the acting was very good, with De Niro doing a great job portraying a nearly-normal guy that is just mentally-unhinged enough to simply not understand some normal social conventions, nor restrain his more violent impulses. I liked Jodie Foster's acting as the teenage prostitute, though I think they could have done more with the character; somehow, she felt a bit cliche. I was impressed that they managed to work those two music pieces throughout the film to the point where they were almost fighting with each other. And I really liked how gritty the film was, and how raw of a depiction of New York City it gave (especially neat was how the night life and the day life were almost polar opposites in terms of tone, and I imagine this was entirely on purpose).
But even with all of those good elements in mind, I just could not bring myself to enjoy the movie. I can't pinpoint a particular reason why, but when the credits rolled I was just left with a feeling of apathy as to what happened. I'm probably going to give the film another try just out of fairness, but all I can say is that I just didn't get absorbed into the film enough to enjoy it, despite its good aspects.
I'm not sure what else I can say about it. It's not a bad film, but I just didn't like it.
It doesn't bother me, it's just weird to have no reaction to such a movie.

Hmmm...
I guess if I were to feel anything about it it was a distinct feeling of unease, and I'm certain that was deliberate. De Niro was uncomfortable to watch, and the subject matter was unrelentingly depressing and dark. And you know what? That was probably the point of the film: to make you uncomfortable. That in mind though (and this may simply be because I'm not used to that kind of film), when the film ended I really kind of wasn't sure what to feel. Quite frankly, I'm still not sure how to feel. As I said, I was uncomfortable when watching it, but when it ended I realized that I didn't really care about what had happened. That's kind of where this feeling of apathy/neutrality is coming from.

I agree with you, I felt more or less the same. It's a bit slowpaced.
I agree with you, I felt more or less the same. It's a bit slowpaced.
Oh the pacing didn't bother me at all, and in fact I think that was one of the better parts of the film; the build-up to De Niro's character finally going off the deep end was handled very well.
I just...well, I said it above. I appreciate the film for what it is and I recognize that it's a well-made film, but I just didn't end up liking it. I guess for some of the folks here that's not an okay thing to say (or I just need to be more articulate when going against the grain, so to speak), but that's how I feel about it.
Well, I thought that the buildup was to slow and boring. The massacre was also pretty weird but it showed well the brutality behind the whole scene. At the end I was like "what just happened?".

Really oughta read "The Body", the short story it was based off of.
Dune
7/10
I really like the movie, it's a great science fiction movie. It looks great visually and sounds amazing. The whole Dune universe is amazing and unique. I never noticed that it had a fair share of great actors. Unforunately the movie got all kinds of negative reviews. The story and setting is really confusing and bizarre, still it's a movie ahead of it's time. The movie does not strictly follow the books which is not an issue for me, but a lot of people are really upset about that fact. Anyway it's a great watch.
Punch Drunk Love
7.5/10
Watched The Shawshank Redemption.
9/10
A few parts were kinda weird and felt rushed but overall an amazing movie.
Ted 3/10
Just boring and not funny.

That's a shame, that movie was a total guilty pleasure for me. I know it was stupid and it's mostly typical MacFarlane humor, but I saw it with a group of friends and we laughed our asses off.
The hibbot 8.5/10
saw it in 2d :I but was great to be back on middle earth again thought
The Hobbit.
10/10 - Way better then LOTR.
How is it compared to "Fellowship of the Ring"?
too early too say, but it had the same feeling as fotr
The Hobbit did capture the original feeling of LOTR. I feel it was more friendly to new comers to Tolkiens work since it explains more than LOTR did.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
9.5/10 - pretty awesome movie including the others and I can't wait to see The Hobbit.
