why mention flaws then refuse to say what they are. :-(
Ah well ok. One of the problems is that the story lacks coherence here and there, the change of the inspector is very abrupt(it's better in directors cut) but that is a wonderful parallel to what the grey men are doing to the people so I can accept it. The love story kinda doesn't pan out in a satisfying way, it yields no satisfying results, at least not for me. Then we have the old "allmighty" problem, the grey men can change reality but they need syringes and a doctor to change the brains of people. The "sleep" is kinda stupid, "stop time" would've been better but then again, it gives off a certain "crude" vibe.
The Eagles are not a taxi service
That might be right but the movie portrayed the eagles as a transportation service unlike the books where they are a sentient and standing race.
My first full day off in about two weeks, decided to go for a bit of a mindless movie day. Bring on the Michael Bay, since I haven't watched them in a while. Armageddon: 9/10 The Rock: 9.5/10 The Island: 8.5/10
Sleuth (1972) really, really well done movie with two fantastic actors (young michael caine is surreal as shit) and a great crazy setpiece (the mansion of a crazy game-loving dude, filled with gadgets and animatronics and shit) it was originally a play so the dialogue shines through, possibly the only complaints I have with it are that one of the twists is painfully obvious and the third act is kind of slow (but the first act is fantastic and more than makes up for it) definitely worth a watch even if you've seen the shitty remake 9/10
Dead Man's Shoes - 8.5/10 Paddy Considine needs to play in more movies
Premium Rush: 5/10 Some good camera work but the acting and the writing left a lot to be desired, in my opinion.
Synecdoche, New York: 9/10. I need to watch this a few more times, that ending was amazing.
Just watched Enter The Void I dunno if I can rate it right now, but fuck
Drive 9/10 Simply brilliant
life of pie 7/10
8/10. I am very surprised I had never heard of this film with such a cast. Fucking great first 40-50 minutes, but it devolved into predictability which detracted from some of the enjoyment.
Cloud Atlas 9/10 Easily one of the best films I have ever seen. The entire experience of watching every storyline unfold at the same time is an incredibly gratifying intellectual stimulus. Listening to the characters and narration never gets boring. Every scene is engaging and feels like it is building up to something. Despite the runtime of nearly 3 hours, the pacing is superb and it really does not feel its length. One of the most notable elements of the film is nearly every actor plays two or more drastically different characters spanning across multiple time periods, and most of the time their characters have different accents or even different ways of speaking as well. Tying into how actors play multiple characters, the costume and makeup design are unlike anything that I can recall seeing. Nothing about how a character looks or acts feels out of place across all the different time periods, each with very different styles of setting. I feel like the Wachowskis nearly pulled another Matrix with the special effects. Numerous shots of what Earth is like in the future look rather stunning, and at the same time convincing, and the design of the technology in the future is something especially noteworthy. The only thing I found at fault with Cloud Atlas was that it was difficult to understand what people were saying on occasion, especially during the parts that take place when Tom Hanks fights cannibals. Other than that, excellent film in every way, including an amazing soundtrack. Watching this film actually made me happy while I was watching it. In the near future I'm going to have to watch it again just so I can experience it again, because that's what Cloud Atlas is: an experience.
Gran Torino. 10/10, fucking brilliant. It's both humorous and sad.
because that's what Cloud Atlas is: an experience.
you seen Tree of Life?
Watchmen. 10/10. I fucking adore this movie.
Thief (1981) (rewatching) - 1980s/10 You know how Point Break just screams out "I am a 90s film", this one does that with the 80s with way more class and a cleaner movie. Point Break- 8/10 Thief- 10/10 [editline]23rd December 2012[/editline] Both movies kinda get nonsensical towards the end though
SOLARIS I liked it. 7/10 because I got to see George clooney's ass one too many times.
I thought you were talking about the Russian one, and was confused how you could confuse the russian guy for george clooney.
The Aviator 8/10 I wonder what alien world the movie was shot on where plants look like these [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/nIURU.jpg[/thumb]
Trainspotting, 10/10 sounds right
Magnolia 8/10 It's a really emotional film with some of the best performances I can say I've seen. I went into this film already being slightly emotionally compromised and watching it only served to make me even more emotional, but I suppose in a way the point of the film is to move you like that. About 3/4 of the way I came to the realization that in most of the heart-wrenching and tension-filled scenes, everything is conveyed by the performers themselves. I recall several scenes in which you only hear dialogue and background noise, which I found a very interesting artistic choice when you consider how often music is used to evoke emotion in the audience. Unfortunately, I felt like the scenes dragged for roughly the first half of the entire film. There was a lot of dialogue, but it just wasn't very engaging. Once you get past the slow stuff, everything picks up and some incredibly well-acted scenes take place. I was particularly impressed with Tom Cruise's character, which had a fascinating character arch from beginning to end. It's a film about regret, insecurity, infidelity, love, forgiveness, right and wrong, and pretty much anything that falls under the category of "the human condition". It's well worth a watch.
you seen Tree of Life?
It's on my to-do list.
I've watched limitless and in time yesterday. And dayumn, both movies are damn great, the ideas are original as hell, loved them both. I recommend 'em. 9-10/10
Shame(2011) - 3/10
The Aviator 8/10 I wonder what alien world the movie was shot on where plants look like these [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/nIURU.jpg[/thumb]
It's has to do with the color correction they used to emulate the look of early color film stock. It pretty much used 2 colors, Red and Blue.

Tree of Life - 0/10... Watched this at like 2 in the morning and fell asleep. worst movie
Dredd (2012) 7/10 Cool movie,Full of well done gore. Only downside is the most repetitive story ever. You know,Old veteran takes a rookie under his wing and they fight a crime boss. Woopedoo But when you need brainless action I recommend it. I havent seen a well done gore movie since punisher war zone.
