Anyone can recommend a good monster survival movie? Akin to The Mist or Cloverfield?
Obligatory Alien and Aliens

Blair Witch Project (Very, very highly recommended. Scared the shit out of me)
I think that's kind of the point. All Michael Mann movies are shot that way and I think it gives it a more authentic feel, combined with all the actually believable action that his movies have.
the problem is that this so called authentic feel is overused in shitty low production joints, so it crappifies the movie for me instead of adding something
I normally don't enjoy that kind of movie, but [REC] was really fucking good.
even though it was fucking awesome i have to say the first watch i was oogling at the lead half the time. she's just so god damn cute.

Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10 (i seriously thought this was going to suck)
it seriously did suck
Rusty have you ever turned off your brain in an attempt to enjoy a bad movie?
I did it with mission Impossible 4, and it was good.
it seriously did suck
It was interesting in its cultural depiction. But mostly badly acted.

seriously, Boyle put no effort in looking for the lead guy. "Any old Indian will do", his daughter watches Skins and points him out. A pathetic effort.
story was stupid as well and I thought the whole love plot was silly and unbelievable
didn't like it at all
not seen it in ages but still I don't really want to watch it again lol
well sure the basic plot was kind of crap. But the underlying theme of the horrors in his life are kind of thrilling.
It's definitely a shock to the system in how the culture differs.
The Descendants - 7/10. It was an enjoyable movie. Check it out.

Wasn't there a korean version of cloverfield? I heard its got good reviews, but anyone here seen it?
its all about the dance at the end of the Slumdog Millonaire, man
I really did not enjoy Slumdog. It was a bit sentimental.
The Adventures of Tintin
8/10

Isn't this like your second time rating this movie?
Or is something wrong with me

But mission impossible 4 wasn't a bad movie in the first place.

Yet another example of you commentating on yourself. :>
Rubber - 5/10

That movie bent my brain. Must be careful.
I saw the last half of that film
possibly the most confused I've ever been at a film
watch it from start to finish for more brain death.
I just noticed I've never seen any true mindfuck movies, except some parts of eraserhead
is there anything "lighter" that you'd still consider a mindfuck?

Brazil.
Sideways
8/10
Amazing movie. Great story, good acting and a very fitting soundtrack. Lovely movie, definitely worth a watch if you haven't already.
Ghost Rider 2
3/10
Some awesome effects and camera angles, but as with many comic book movies, the story is absolute trash. And about those good camera angles - for every awesome one that fit the scene perfectly, there about about 4 that made you cringe due to how awkward/shaky they are. Many of the fight scenes use this uber shaky camera shit, probably to make it look like the camera man is in the fight, but it just makes the film seem sloppy and semi difficult to keep track of who is attacking who.
I cant even remember the names of the 2 main bad guys because of how little/awful the dialogue there is, the movie focusing on close ups of cages face and various explosions.
Ghost Rider himself has some awful one-liners that are obviously meant to be witty, but end up making you sigh at how bad they are. Think Duke Nukem Forever. For example - he kills the first bad guy on a road and says "Road Kill". Not a single person in the audience laughed at this, but by the time this happened, a sizable amount of the audience had left the theater.
The ending is piss awful - while the final fight scene kept me on the edge somewhat, how he defeats the second bad guy felt extremely rushed.
I cant bash the effects - I really liked them, but they should of dropped the extremely large amount of dosh onto a better script/actors.
This is by far my least favorite Cage film. Also, you know an action movie is bad when you are struggling to stay awake during key fight scenes.
The Collector 8/10
I actually enjoyed it.

Why do you people keep watching this movie?
Wasn't there a korean version of cloverfield? I heard its got good reviews, but anyone here seen it?
I think you're talking about The Host. I just saw that last week (I'm on a monster/survival movie binge right now) Really good movie, especially since they depict the monster in broad daylight throughout the movie, unlike the few glances in Cloverfield.
War of the Worlds?
Saw it, I have it on DVD. Thanks for trying though, one of my favorite movies.
really? he probably knows that one.
go with the fog. it's like the mist but kinda lamer.
as for cloverfield go with [REC] (the spanish version). [REC] is basically the godfather of modern documentary style fiction horror along with blair witch project (like the film is recorded with a hand cam and what you are watching is what the characters recorded).
and if you haven't seen it, blair witch project is a good one too. it's like paranormal activity but not shit.
when i say godfather and all that shit i mean spearheaded it well into mainstream by giving JJ the inspiration for cloverfield.
Yes, I plan on watching the Thing this week. I'll check out the Fog. Heard about [REC], although I like monsters over paranormal. I'll be sure to check it out though.
Seen Blair Witch Project already.
