I refuse to read any reviews or look at the imdb/tomatoes score because I can decide for myself if I like a movie or not, I don't need some 'professionals' to tell me what I will or will not like.

fancy words for "questions needed answering, weren't answered".
still doesn't account for consensus disappointment.
Is The Darjeeling Limited any good
i didnt like it all.
loved Moonrise Kingdom though so I dunno
what is any of that good for if the writing is awful? i loved the art direction and designs, but none of that could help the film's rotten narrative core. films are a narrative medium so...
You can still enjoy something for it's aesthetics. The writing sure is one of the important parts of a movie, if not the most important, but it doesn't make up for completely everything.
I enjoyed the art design, etc and I thought it was worth the watch. I feel that I can inspiration from it when seeing it from that perspective.
Anyone seen the old film Excalibur from about 1981'ish? Thats a great fucking watch. Darkness and cheap props but captures something all the same.
haven't seen that in a long while, great film.
Personally I loved it because it went into the origins of man and tied it up nicely with the Alien film.
This is why the film was a joy to watch, I wasn't after another horror cliche (which is what I expected). To be honest the part where [sp]octopus thing suddenly appears towards the end[/sp] is a small pet peeve I had for it.
It builds a good foundation for the Alien series, even though it's not a tight connection to what occurs in those films.

more specifically, who in their right mind would let someone who wrote the fucking finale for LOST anywhere near their movie

i liked the finale to lost :(
fancy words for "questions needed answering, weren't answered".
ummm no.
i'm okay with unanswered questions.
it's the things like
- how the guys in hazmat-suits suddenly stop following Rapache when she's fleeing from captivity.
- how Rapache and Theron couldnt just sidestep when the giant spaceship came after them (dont give me the "it was because of [evolutionary human-instinct]" jazz)
- how Leonard from The Big Bang Theory proceeded to pet a scary-ass looking alien lifeform, despite being running away like a wuss earlier- due to a alien guy, that had been dead since forever.
- so much more.
eh. maybe the word "narrative" wasnt the best choice of word. forgive me. english isnt my mother-tongue.
anyways, my point is; theres so much bad writing and stupidity and confusing shit that makes you go the complete opposite of "wow how interesting i wanna watch the sequel and see how this resolves. what could be the answer to this great mystery im so excited to find out"
Jack Reacher - 6/10
It sucked, I didn't enjoy this at all, it dragged on. The dialogue was ass, it just sucked ass in general.

hey dont talk shit about the funniest scene of 2012
Then why did you give it a 6?
6 is like average.
who in the ass is rapache?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0636426/
looks like nitpicking, also it's not confusing at all.
if you didn't get the underlying story of the film, listen to the commentary it's great.
looks like nitpicking, also it's not confusing at all.
those things hit me as I was watching them so nah definitely not nitpicking.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0636426/
Oh yeah that last bit was confusing as fuck, huge thing rolling/falling towards you, why the fuck do you run backwards instead of sideways.

I liked it, kinda of. The trailer warned me the dialogue would be ass so I was just like, okay let's watch all the shooting stuff. I mean seriously, "if you're smart, that scares you". Really now.
I'm just curious, why didn't you like the Hobbit?
Why would you ask Rusty why he didn't like a Peter (H)Jackson movie?
Do you have any idea just what you've DONE?
And no, sorry Rusty.
Prometheus was bad all around.
Sharktopus vs Megacroc vs Skeeter on Syfy was actually better and made more sense.
those things hit me as I was watching them so nah definitely not nitpicking.
the things that hit you were "running", "petting animals" and "ceasing from moving".
That seems to be a bit much considering all the "narrative core" to be ruined at that point.
I was assuming people didn't like the movie for its concept but now the reality is, is that people care more about action cliches than actual content.
Posting the word 'Prometheus' in a forum is like tossing in a grenade and watching the ensueing carniage, it divides so many which says something about it. Anyway....
The fighter (2010)
Not a bad film because it also centers around Christian Bales character as well as the actual fighter so you could say 'The Fighter' could really be either one of them. Bale nailed it and Wahlberg was fine. Supporting cast were fine too but the mick, scum sisters were a delight, those haircuts. The film could only really end one way as all fighting films do but that we can forgive. I'd say the film dragged a little in places but overall a good watch.
Dogtooth
When you have a child you have a blank canvas in front of you which can be taught whatever you wish and then the outside influences of the world can add to the person that grows up from it. What if you took those influences away and basically locked your kids in the house and completely cut them off from the outside world? This Greek film is about a family who does exactly that. 2 daughters and 1 son are pretty much at the mercy of their crazy parents. This film is disgusting, facinating and entertaining in buckets. Because they are cut off, the grown up kids have some really funny manners without the social boundaries we observe in the open world. I recommend this film without hesitation.
40 year old virgin - 5/10
dragged on and on for so long, it almost felt like Ted.
however still better than Ted by miles because Steve Carell
Home Alone 3
9/10
funny as hell, great holiday classic show

yeah shit like that is why i'm not watching this again until they release the extended cut. I haven't seen the deleted scenes myself but I'm told one of them shows him finding a harmless version of that worm earlier, hence he tried to pet this one when he saw it right away. it just sounds like a case of bad editing to maintain a decent run time to me, so much stuff was left not making any sense by the end of it all.

Yea because I totally meant I wouldn't watch it again because of one scene, not all the other content they took out which left a ton of scenes not making any sense, like the scene that explains why the guys with the maps got lost in the caves, or the expanded opening sequence. Is it that big a deal I'd only want to see the full version that has less plot holes next time?
[editline]29th December 2012[/editline]
There's a lot of stuff they left out, it's only a matter of time before they throw it all together and sell it as an extended cut. Weird they didn't do it initially but meh it's fox.
didn't particularly love the film, (sunshine) but loved this song from the score. Thought i'd share with you guys.
