Django Unchained 8/10 The shootout in the big house was pretty funny. All that exaggerated blood!
of course oz is a little bizarre it's a 90's hbo prison drama with more rape than you can poke a dick at but it is so good
it's pretty good (one of my favorite series) but I feel that the wire has more substance and better writing. [editline]6th January 2013[/editline] regardless they are both two fantastic fucking shows
the wire is more intricate and realistic but Oz is a lot more compelling
got to the bit where they can't stop saying fuck. gets a lot more intriguing as the episodes pass, haven't got up to the shiiiet part yet but i feel it's close. [editline]6th January 2013[/editline] also plan to see Berlin Alexanderplatz, that's a mammoth miniseries.. damn.
Was forced to watch "White Chicks" with my friends because it was on netflix Some funny moments, but overall completely terrible. It relies too much on the same jokes over and over again, not to mention the plotline itself was completely unbelievable. 4/10, never again
Iron Man 2 had a predictable villain and plot. Thor was stock full of cliches and unfunny jokes along with a boring villain.
weren't that bad come on
Only thing that really bugged me about it was Anderson didn't wear a helmet. [sp]I know it was handwaved at the beginning cause it interferes with her psychic stuff, but then how could she read the mind of the other judge through her helmet?[/sp]
yes but her pretty face made up for it by a tenfold [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] and reading characters is really hard without seeing their eyes, so having her wear a helmet obviously wouldnt work very well. eyes are the windows to one's soul. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] on dredd it worked of course, because he doesnt have any feelings. he's just a cold crime-stopping machine. while anderson was there to add needed emotion to the film.
The Watch: 0/10 literally cancer
What is it figuratively cancer? Nah just kidding. Zero Dark Thirty: 6.7/10 I think it was good, but hard to follow and also there were a lot of suicide bombings. Good FX and acting was pretty good, except for Mike/Interrogator. He was just mediocre.
oh, yes. Dredd It was great. Damn fine glorification of violence and profanity, which we don't see that often nowadays. I wish they used more practical effects rather than CG though- the CG blood looked pretty off, and just would have looked so much better with squibs, and made it feel more like a Paul Verhoeven-film. Just an overall great action-flick, with juuuust enough emotion. No forced romance between Dredd and Anderson or anything. Very good. Buy it, watch it.
Pom Poko - 8/10 One of the better animes I've seen. Flight - 8/10 All my feels. The Jacket - 9/10 Adrien Brody needs to do more serious films.
Bones Brigade - 8/10 Really great docu made by Stacy Peralta about the skateboarding crew Bones Brigade, it shows their absolute passion for skateboarding, really beautiful.
Cloud Atlas 9/10. Just, wow. Definite best movie in my opinion, that has been released for quite some time.
Blood Diamond, 8/10 DiCaprio is brilliant as usual. Lots of action and never a calm moment. See this movie!
Still Life (2006): 8.5/10. Great Chinese film about the Three Gorges Dam and how it affected Chinese people since it caused huge floods and damage to cities.
Django: Unchained - 9/10 I'm really liking Tarantino's new cast he has been rolling with for the past couple films. [sp]Rated a little high because I'm a sucker for his films, I guess I grew up watching too many 70's movies.[/sp]
The Dead - 8/10 Zombie movie based in Africa. Low budget, but the small cast is great and plot moves along at a fast enough pace to keep things interesting. A whole lot of tension and suspense without resorting to any cheap jump scares. Probably the biggest plus is the African desert landscape which really just adds a whole other dimension to the movie. Probably one of the only few things I've seen on the Syfy channel that isn't complete shit.
Jack Reacher I will give it a 9/10 because it had an interesting story and was a cool different sort of movie cause it was like a detective show and had me interested the whole time. Tom Cruise was really great in it and I liked how it sort of had a light note to it but was still serious.
End Of Watch - 8/10 It did a great job of getting you interested in the main characters. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña really had great chemistry together.
Still Life (2006): 8.5/10. Great Chinese film about the Three Gorges Dam and how it affected Chinese people since it caused huge floods and damage to cities.
I think saw this one in the Tv a few years ago, very emotional without being cheezy. Absolutely worth a watch.
the wire is more intricate and realistic but Oz is a lot more compelling
I've just started watching Oz. It's good but I wouldn't put it on the same level as Breaking Bad or The Wire just yet. I'm only on the 3rd episode so it is probably far too early to judge.
oh just you wait just you wait
Dredd 8/10
just found out that The Mist was intended to be seen in black and white and that there's a "director's vision" version of it. you shittin' me?
just found out that The Mist was intended to be seen in black and white and that there's a "director's vision" version of it. you shittin' me?
yeah the blu-ray comes with two discs. two actual discs just for an alternate version
The Fighter Good characters, action and plot. 8.5/10
Should i start watching Oz or The wire (watched the first season a couple of years ago and forgot about it after that..)?
The Wire takes an indepth look at every aspect of the drug trade in Baltimore, Maryland while Oz takes a look at prison life. Whatever interests you really.
almost done the first season of Wire.. so damn good
Watch both but I would say The Wire first. I'm only on season 2 of Oz right now and it is good but I prefer The Wire. The characters are more likable and the plot is more interesting, in my opinion. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] Also The Wire's theme tune is pretty sweet, especially in season 1.
