Tempo di uccidere 1989 4/10 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100762/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 An Italian movie and one of the first of Nic Cage. Very strange. Apparently it was never released in the US. All the ideas for a nice movie are there but the execution is, while solid, totally boring, even Cage can't change that. It's a nice idea but it lacks any suspension and timing. I'd love to see a remake for this. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline]
Django Unchained 7/10 People criticized Gangster Squad for being too comedic. I thought Gangster Squad's comedic moments were well blended with the rest of the film. Django was half serious half comedy, and it didn't blend completely. That mixed with Tarantino's overly cheesy camera shots, and the cheesy comedy forced into the action shots. I loved DiCaprio as the villain though.
I don't know about that. I liked the villain but I am not sure that is Leo's accomplishment, To me it seems more like good writing was the key here. Have to agree with Rusty here, it's more of a "hey look it's Leo as a villain" feeling here.
Looper, 8/10, I loved the hacked together atmosphere, and the general premise, but I felt as if it could have been done better. (Plus using single action revolvers as the main weapon of the Gats was a rather odd choice in my mind.)
(I figured it was to elicit some kind of western vibe, the gatmen in the future had those wide brim hats and Kid Blue was referred to as a fuckup cowboy)
Django Unchained 8/10 I really like it, especially the Paul Verhoeven-like gore effects.
how does it actually covet mental health? although it looked good, it did just kinda look like "oh you're crazy?? me too!! haha its so cool I have loads of meds to take but besides being a bit zany I actually act perfectly normal"
yeah this is my problem, I'd rather have something that deals with the agonising parts of Bipolar The Hunt - 9/10 Madds is awesome, I thought the subtitles might take me out of it but they didn't. I felt so fucked afterwards, it's very much a dirge of a film but it's worth it
Les mis 6/10
I stooole a loaaaf of breaaaaad
Cyborg Cop 11/10 best movie ever
The Room I would rate this movie
Watching this right now, about an hour in. Shit's not that great, The Hurt Locker was better, and that was an awful film as well. The only thing going through my mind as I watch this overrated crapfest is I've finally realized how beautiful Jessica Chastain is, and I don't know that I want to sit through another hour and forty-five minutes just to see the end fight sequence, which I hear is good.
Gonna go watch Dredd now, hope it's as good as I was told [editline]15th January 2013[/editline] Done, was pretty good for an action film, would give it a solid 7/10 At times predictable, but still fun to watch lods of gore
Argo: 7/10. Good intense thriller, worth watching at least once.
Watched Red State the other day. I found it a bit hard to watch for the monologuing parts, but that wasn't because they were bad in a movie sense. They were just somewhat rage inducing. Rest of the movie was good though, I'd recommend it.
saw Les Miserabes the other day. gave it a definite 10/10, would recommend to everyone
The Impossible: 8/10 Very emotional movie. The part I didn't like was the cliche part when[sp] all of them were at the hospital but kept barely missing eachother.[/sp]
Suckerpunch 5/10 Well, Suckerpunch is not exactly a good movie or anything that provokes thoughts but it is sure entertaining. The visuals are pretty CGI intense and very stylistic, pretty typical for Snyder. Although I am not to much a fan of it, it's pretty well done and the camera work is pretty great. Acting is standart, although the characters were really bland. The hot babes against bad guys concept is cheesy but done with purpose. The story itself was pretty lackluster and just a bad backgroundstory in order to explain what the fuck is going on. The whole psychatric ward was not depicted very well and it did not make that much sense. It's a great movie if you want to see some action with nice effects.
I thought Sucker Punch was offensively bad as a film but yeah it had some cool scenes.
Platoon last night. 10/10 for just being amazing.. that and 20 year old Charlie Sheen was fantastic. Not to mention the great performances of all the other big names in there, I honestly can't complain about a single aspect

Shutter Island 7.5-8/10 I really enjoyed although it was rather predictable at times. The acting was pretty good too. Apocalypse Now (1979) 10/10 Nothing really new to be said here. One of my very favorite movies. I like the original more than redux. Some of the scenes added in redux (mainly the plantation scene) drag the film out to much and take away some of the tension of the film. Don't me get wrong the redux version is still very very good but I feel the pacing and flow is better in the original.
Maybe it's because I saw non-redux first, but the plantation scene seemed really out of place. Like the movie was a rollercoaster that just kind of slows down on a straight track for 20 minutes before picking back up again. Also, just saw Zero Dark Thirty 7/10. Pretty good drama, main actress was great, and the last half was solid but man does it drag out some of the scenes in the beginning and middle.
I liked the plantation scene, it was added to put some calm after the intensity. Martin Sheen needed it to space out before going back to the insanity again.
Dredd - 8/10 Great reboot, delivers everything you would expect from a proper Dredd movie. As such it isn't a masterpiece that's for everyone but it's solid and entertaining to watch. It's sad it didn't do well in box office.
So against my better judgement I went and saw Zero Dark Thirty. I hated the Hurt Locker, so I'm not sure what I was expecting. It was terrible though. There was only one positive to the movie and that was the actual attack on Osama's compound. The rest of the film was terrible. The pacing was off, the main character was terribly written, it wasn't the least bit historically accurate, the camera-work was pretty bad (shaky-cam, zoom, more shaky-cam), and then entire overarching message of the film was disgusting. I considered walking out, and I've only ever considered doing that once or twice before. I absolutely regretted paying any amount of money to watch that.
I've noticed that 'america fuck yeah' movies and TV shows like Zero Dark Thirty and Homeland are winning lots of awards. Coincidence? I think not. Homeland won over Breaking Bad for fuck sake.
I absolutely regretted paying any amount of money to watch that.
why would you choose to watch it in the cinema if you hated Hurt Locker :v: Not even I would do that and I liked Hurt Locker, not a big fan of either film though.. Neither are "oscar" worthy at all. Why didn't you just watch Django or The Impossible..
Watched The Big Lebowski last night. 10/10 Easily one of my favorite movies. Jeff Bridges plays such a convincing stoner, and John Goodman is fucking awesome as per usual.
Accurate representation of Germans I tell you what, now where did I put my leather pants?
I watched Zero Dark Thirty and thought it was largely terrible. They even had Chris Pratt as one of the ST6 people who raided the compound, as if to say "lol look we got that guy from Parks and Rec." The ending was awful. Maya as a character was two-dimensional and was largely the best character of the movie (aka every other character was one-dimensional). Everything else was dragged out and disjointed.
