Coraline. Finally managed to see it while babysitting. Everything about the film is beautiful - the pacing and atmosphere are fantastic for a 'kids' film. Other Mother is one creepy bitch. 9/10
Easily one of my favorites. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] Brothers Bloom 8/10 it almost almost almost used too much of that Indie-Atmosphere but it worked.
How much did the baby rate
Googoo/baaba
I have watched the Raid so many times now just from showing it to each of my friends, the entertainment value in that film is off the scale
I have watched the Raid so many times now just from showing it to each of my friends, the entertainment value in that film is off the scale
it's brainless but the fights are so damn euphoric to watch.
Saw the found footage horror movie V/H/S, I really enjoyed it. 9/10
So you've never heard of Breaking Bad, huh?
maybe i should get with the times :'-(
Saw the found footage horror movie V/H/S, I really enjoyed it. 9/10
I've heard it's really silly.
also this is the first time I've seen Malcolm in the Middle's dad in a film which is good. :-)
he's not Malcolm in the Middle's dad, he's Heisenberg!
I've heard it's really silly.
Some parts are bit silly like the killer who distorts the screen when he appears. But being a huge horror movie fan I really enjoyed the movie. And I really like anthology movies like Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside Movie, Trick R' Treat, and stuff like that.
Dredd - 9/10 Oh man, this movie kicked so much ass. I've just recently started reading some of the old Dredd comics, and this movie did a great job of carrying over the feel of the comics while making it feel a lot more grounded. The acting was solid, the effects were excellent, and the action was very good - it definitely had an '80s feel, like a Verhoven or Carpenter movie. As soon as it was done I wanted to watch it again. One thing that I liked that was carried over from the comics was how Dredd isn't really a hero. He's a cop and a good guy but he's also an unyieldingj fascist. In the comics, he says "Justice has a price. The price is freedom". In a place like Mega City One - where there are hundreds of millions of people and judges can only respond to 6% of crimes - you have to be hard and brutal to keep criminals in check. But is that style of response only perpetuating the violence? Big Trouble in Little China 8.5/10 This movie is just tons of fun. The story is simple and quite a bit of it is cheesy, but the kung-fu action is great and the actors - especially Kurt Russel as Jack Burton - are fantastic. Carpenter and Russell make a great team, and I just enjoy the whole package here.
judges being fascists and mega city 1 being a police state was something they wanted to explore in the sequels but unless the dvd/bluray sales are great it'll never happen
Drive - 7.5/10 Great theme, style, characters and violence. I thought more would happen though, it did feel empty in places. Hellraiser - 5/10 The gore and the costumes were pretty fun but the acting, camera shots and writing was pretty bad. Harry Brown - 8.5/10 Michael Caine cleaning the streets, loved it.
The People vs. Larry Flynt incredible film, honestly one of the most hilarious yet meaningful courtroom films. Woody Harrelson is amazing, a real genuine performance. Couldn't stop laughing at the court scenes though, just insane. Courtney Love was surprisingly great too, alongside Edward Norton... nuff said. Honestly one of the best legal dramas I've seen. Recommended. Can't believe Woody was nominated for best actor, one of the most insane yet awesome nominations I've ever seen by the acadamy. Aside from being incredibly hilarious, it also mainly tackles a serious issue, freedom of speech. For that reason and the above, one of the best I've seen in a while. Damn good.
children of men (rewatch) 10/10 I don't think there is anything wrong with this movie, it is absolutely stunning
Brothers - 7/10 meh was good. really liked tobey maguire's breakdown near the end though
Les Misérables - 6/10 I really liked the actual songs but I dunno why but when they were just singing script it took me way out of the film. Plus the Camera was always so close to just one character whereas if I was to see this on stage I'd be seeing a lot more, and I wanted to see more. But it didn't feel like it's runtime and I thought it was a fairly good film.
Looper 8/10 Wasn't what I was expecting. If you can ignore the causal issues and the [sp]magical powers[/sp] it's just a damn good movie.
I liked Harry Brown too, but is it really better than Hellraiser and Drive?
Hellraiser just felt like a cheesy horror. I can't recall any moments that made me feel tension or immersion, it just bored me. I felt more emotionally engaged in Harry Brown than Drive possibly because I come from England and can understand the fear and anger people have towards these youths or 'chavs'. I've actually been threatened and chased by people that are similar to those in harry brown, and its fucking scary.
Looper 8/10 Wasn't what I was expecting. If you can ignore the causal issues and the [sp]magical powers[/sp] it's just a damn good movie.
why did the [sp]tk element[/sp] bugger some people? it was perfectly logical within the context of the film, and was heavily foreshadowed.
why did the [sp]tk element[/sp] bugger some people? it was perfectly logical within the context of the film, and was heavily foreshadowed.
It definitely didn't ruin the movie for me, it just seemed a bit obtuse. I think it was the heavy foreshadowing that bugged me most, it felt like every mention it got was entirely for the purpose of a single scene. Again, this is just me, and I still really enjoyed the movie.
I just watched Samsara. Images and scenes were only vaguely connected with each other. It was occasionally bizarre and at some points downright surreal. It was an emotional roller coaster ride, going from unbelievably beautiful to charmingly uplifting to bleak and depressing in a very short amount of time. Sometimes it caused me to feel profound peace and not long afterwards I was utterly disgusted. I give it a "my last trip on mushrooms" out of 10.
Saw the found footage horror movie V/H/S, I really enjoyed it. 9/10
hands down one of the most abysmal found footage films to date it was literally so bad 0/10
hands down one of the most abysmal found footage films to date it was literally so bad 0/10
Well you hate everything, fun included, so I dunno about you.
Well you hate everything, fun included, so I dunno about you.
yeah dude once again im being accused of hating everything because i hate a thing you like please continue to ignore all of the things i have said i love, because it helps you sleep at night knowing i only don't agree with you because i hate everything!!!!!!!
yeah dude once again im being accused of hating everything because i hate a thing you like please continue to ignore all of the things i have said i love, because it helps you sleep at night knowing i only don't agree with you because i hate everything!!!!!!!
I don't even know what movie you just reviewed, but I'm speaking of everything else that I've seen you post, you are generally very negative of nearly all films, generally finding little enjoyment in most films, except for the very rare exception.
I get the same response whenever I hate something that's popular, and I mean anything. Like, for example, I thought "Twilight" was kind of boring. I've heard a couple people say it was overrated, but I just wasn't entertained by it for some reason. Even for the so-bad-it's-good moments. It was either "you just hate everything" or "you're a hipster" that got thrown my way. You almost never hear "well, that's your opinion".
My sister is the only one I know who goes "well, that's your opinion", everyone else says I hate everything, I'm a hipster or I'm pretentious. It's kind of funny actually.
Also, it's good that you try to justify that I think you're ridiculously negative by saying that I simply say it because you "don't agree with me". I'd be plenty fine with you disagreeing with me, but this doesn't stem from our disagreements, it stems from the fact that you simply seem to dislike most every movie that I've seen to review or talk about, and you often are very loud about it. I think what you do is annoying, the way you hate so much, but not because I'm "mad" or "sad u disagree" or because you hate what I like, but because I simply believe, due to my observations, that you are a hateful man. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] Though I don't want to argue this, I know where this goes with people like you, especially when you have everyone here that will come to your defense with extreme rudeness. Oh, I watched Shark Night, even taking into consideration its point of being fun it was damn boring. 3/10, only pluses for sharks, I like sharks.
haha i don't even hate most things, you are being ridiculous if only you knew how much i loved oh wait you would if you didn't selectively remember only my negative posts !!!
Hes not tho? Youd be an idiot to think rusty just hates movies nonstop
i very much doubt that you have an overall positive outlook on entertainment mediums. [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] esp cuz i could prob make a list and then math out a ratio, it'd be pretty weird so I won't do that [editline]16th January 2013[/editline] Also watched Jurassic Park 3, it was as mediocre as possibly allowed by the universe. 6/10, not as good as JP1 or even 2 (even though I did enjoy 2).
