Safehouse- 3.5/5 stars Good action scenes and a solid beginning, middle, and somewhat satisfying end make Safehouse a movie that's enjoyable if you need your action fix. Fight scenes aren't cluttered, so you can tell what's going on, with who's fighting whom and who is winning said fight, and Denzel Washington kicks a good ammount of ass in the movie, without looking like an invincible god that is unbeatable in combat (a trap that too many movies seem to fall into). The acting is decent and serves the job well, although Ryan Reynolds still looks like he's about to cry in every scene, but that may be his natural look and the directors use it to some effect. The only real downside to the movie is that the writing is safe, far, far too safe. You know who's good and who's evil pretty much from the get-go if you've seen any other spy action movie in the history of ever. Characters are tropes, usually well acted and written tropes, but still tropes. The story is nothing to really gawk at since you've seen this all before, but it's performed straight and true as to not become a mockery of itself and it's genera. It's your standard action movie, done well.
Restrepo - 10/10 bang bang pop boom
Donnie Darko 10/10 I can't find fault with this movie at all. It was brilliant, and I loved the shit out of it. Plus my head feels like a drying machine at the moment.
What did you guys think of Rise of the Planet of the Apes? All I've seen of people talking about it is that it was only good because there wasn't anything decent out at the time. I enjoyed it, thought it was a good, well executed way of milking on Planet of the Apes.
It was pretty good, I don't remember anything glaringly stupid. :v:
Falling Down 8/10 finally had time to rewatch it after years It's great how you can understand him and feel like he's the protagonist in most scenes, especially the videotape with him and his family all smiling together. and then some other scenes where his cruel and crazy sides are shown loved the part at the end where he said "I'm the bad guy?"

Most of the time I was bored to tears (and I'm someone that doesn't get bored very easily).
apparently you do get bored easily because rotpota wasn't a boring film
Synecdoche, New York 8.2/10 my mind
Synecdoche, New York 8.2/10 my mind
looked it up, you had me at charlie kaufman
looked it up, you had me at charlie kaufman
you will like it. phil hoffman's best movie imo.
I was thinking about seeing that Wanderlust movie, but I've already heard some bad things about it.

I didn't realise how many references there were to the original until I watched it few weeks after though.
Cheech and Chong: up in smoke - 420/10
looked it up, you had me at charlie kaufman
i didnt even know it was made by the same guy who made Eternal sunshine if i'd known that i wouldve expected something else
Tomorrow, When the War Began - 6/10 Great visual effects and cinematography but cheesy dialogue, some naff acting and stupid/annoying/unrealistic characters almost brought it all down. [editline]24th February 2012[/editline] They also made a joke about movie adaptations of books being shit.
you will like it. phil hoffman's best movie imo.
punch-drunk love, boogie nights
I want to watch another movie like Gangs of NY
Safe House - 7/10 - The actions scenes were pretty cool and Denzel is a boss as always but someone needs to tell me why Ryan Reynolds eyes always look really doughy and puppy dog like, it's annoying that in the entire film he seems like this emotional wreck (but it was one of the better films I've seen him in). The plot was alright and seemed all good up until the last third when it kinda got predictable, which in turn lead to a slightly disappointing end.
Predator - 8.5/10 Sort of predictable at times, but it turned really good after [sp]they started dying, I really loved those last parts with Arnold vs the Predator[/sp]. Arnold was convincing as a soldier, but his accent is just so incredibly annoying (probably the first time I've seen one of his movies without subtitles/that wasn't dubbed). Soundtrack was also awesome, like everything Alan Silvestri does. This movie also has some of the most famous one-liners in the history of cinema.
The Butterfly Effect - 9/10 Pretty intense but I liked it. Some parts are sad though
I love the nostalgia critic video of the MK movies, especially the second one
The Wrestler - 9.5/10 Excellent film, fantastic performance by Mickey Rourke, but the ending was a bit unexpected for me. None the less one of the best films of the decade.
The Grey 9.5/10 I can't really see Liam Neeson swearing as much as he does in that movie, but that's about the end of my qualms with this movie. The Cg could have been better, but the wolves were fucking perfect. Goddamn terrifying, even. Fantastically deep characters, and great character progression. Great ending too.
The Cg could have been better, but the wolves were fucking perfect.
they used real wolves + animatronics so that explains it i guess Princess Mononoke a nice tale coupled with wonderful visuals and music. 8.5/10 Spirited Away. i found the story to be inconsistent and messy. and the little girl and that frog were the only characters i liked. 6.5/10 Twelve Monkeys. v good 8/10 Law Abiding Citizen surprisingly good. really rotten ending though ([sp]how did Foxx get back to the prison so fast?[/sp]) 7/10
Law Abiding Citizen rated higher than Spirited Away? Paha.
Act of Valor. Not a stellar movie, but good nonetheless. 7/10
i FINALLY watched the first dirty harry movie. Fucking hell that was badass. I'd give it an 8.999504/10 any of the others worth watching?
50/50 - 8/10.
Law Abiding Citizen rated higher than Spirited Away? Paha.
the styles are completely different, so I see why someone would do that
