The sequel to the remake is arguably worse.
I hate the remake more just due to the fact that it shows WAY too much Michael Myers. He was really mysterious in the original which is still my favorite horror movie of all time.
Worse than this one? No wonder there was no Part 3. The sequels before the reboot are awful, but the reboot manages to be worse than all of them.
Speaking of horror movie sequels, has anyone seen Scream 4?
The George Clooney movie marathon continues.
Syriana - Didn't like it. All the stories they wanted to show were so loosely related to each other I might like enjoyed it more if they were all shown as half hour sections that stood on their own. They didn't give much of a reason to care about anyone besides Clooney and Matt Damon's characters anyway. [sp]And Clooney dies in one of the most anti-climatic fashions. wtf.[/sp]
Need to watch Up in the Air tonight if I don't get distracted by MechWarrior Online.
Forgive me if you said you've already watched it, but I highly recommend 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' if you're on a George Clooney marathon.
Lincoln - 8.5/10...
Just might be my favorite Spielberg movie in years.
Great performances from everyone and it has a fantastic musical score to boot.
Blade Runner (Final Cut)
Question: I haven't seen Blade Runner yet. My local library has a copy of it, but it's not the Final Cut. Is it still worth it or should I hunt around for the final cut?

Just try to find the Final Cut.
I found it on DVD for like 5 bucks and Bluray isn't that much more expensive.
The Final Cut is the way the film deserves to be viewed.

I've seen it before, for English class in high school actually. I loved the shit out of it then and even bought the soundtrack. I should watch it again.
Apocalypse Now 7/10
It was a good movie focusing on the horrors of war and insanity. I feel it dragged on a bit at some points(but I feel the same way about just about every classic/older film). Was the buffalo scene at the end really necessary?

was this the theatrical or redux?
also coppola wanted to film some tribal stuff, the bull was a metaphor for kurtz (i think). plus, it was a real bull, how often do you actually see animals harmed in a film?

If you somehow get off at animals being killed for real, Cannibal Holocaust killed like 7 real animals, including a tiny little monkey

Theatrical. I know the buffalo was a metaphor, and I know it was real. That's why I called it unnecessary. They could have easily faked it.
how often do you actually see animals harmed in a film?
One time too many now.
So I just saw Full Metal Jacket. Been watching it in chunks the past few days as a reprieve between finals studying.
Fuck.
10/10. A movie has never changed my views so much. I can't really think right now
So much for sleep. Besides stress from finals, I am now depressed and realize I can never understand my grandfathers. One died from Agent Orange exposure(Lung Cancer) and the other has 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star... was a tank commander. Lost 2 tanks to mines. One time the entire crew died.
I can never understand, but that was a damn good movie.

I'm interested to see that but I'm a Spielberg hater. I don't like the way he brings comfortable closure to all of his films, even Schindlers for me had that gooey ending, it's amazing how the guy can even put a positive spin on millions of dead Jews. But, I'm not trying to set off a flame war on Spielberg but just wondered if this film was typical of that style or if he's strayed from his usual format.
God damnit.
I thought I would watch the first five minutes of saving private ryan since it would be just intros and stuff.
War sucks. I can't put to words how I feel right now. I need to sleep

Zero Dark Thirty - 6/10
While I still don't really care for this movie, I think it got a little better with a second viewing.
not really worth watching a second time tbh,
thinking of seeing The Impossible again, this time with an accompanyment. Might get a new response.
From the past month
Dredd 6/10
An otherwise good film ruined by really, really bad CGI which I just couldn't get over.
End of Watch 9/10
Great film. Wish it could have been longer. [sp]Ending was pretty abrupt though. Didn't think that they'd actually go through with knocking them both out.[/sp]

Well, it ends with him being shot and then it flashes back to a great speech of his.
I'd say it's not entirely your standard Spielberg feel good movie.
Though, I'm really not sure what you meant by the original quip in the first place.
Schindler's List was pretty damn depressing last I saw it, I should rewatch it actually.

no it doesn't, he dies that's it.
and there's a few obvious schpielberg moments.
Raising Arizona
8/10
Django Unchained
10/10
minority report 8.5/10

Uh, yeah.
He dies (from being shot) and then right afterwards there's a scene with him giving a speech.
Did you walk out after he got shot or something?
And sorry, I guess I don't have the intellectual capacity to pick out trademark Spielberg moments.

Lincoln sounds like a must see then. Schindlers list ends with all the descendants of his Jews putting pebbles on his grave which is obviously hitting home how much of a hero he was and how many lives he saved, not only the Jews in the war but all those who came from them. The film was depressing but amazing and for me his finest moment but I would have felt much better without the tribute at the end to get everyone feeling good again. Just a personal observation on his work.
yeah it wasn't really a feel good ending, so much as it was showing how much of an impact he'd made on all their lives
Aliens vs. Predator
All characters that you are introduced to are alien chow in the next 20 minutes to the movie
Main protagonist is forgettable and following her isn't really interesting
Some dumb moments in how the Predators and humans act
The last 'boss battle' is really short and dumb
The ending [sp]you'd think as a really advanced race you'd know to blast the fucking alien inside of the predator to pieces[/sp]
The aliens fighting the predators scenes were enjoyable, even if they didn't last very long.
5/10, it was a lot worse than I remembered.
"A Haunted House"
5/10
It had its moments, but it was one weird ass film.
Matchstick Men 79/100
Excellent acting from Nicolas Cage. Entertaining flick and I like the editing. [sp]The twist(s) were pretty good too, but a bit too predictable. Although I didn't call out that the daughter was a part of the scheme; I've seen too many con-men movies ending with the protagonist being backstabbed by his/her friend. Still nice though.[/sp]
Django Unchained
10/10
A+
5/5
best movie 2013
Django unchained
10/10 yep
