Brazil Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Twelve Monkeys
I really liked Tideland as well. Time Bandits is pretty good too.
What Terry Gilliam films should I see?
Just incase the tempation gets the better of you, avoid The Imaginarium of Dr Parnasses because its not great. In fairness to Gilliam he lost his star in Heath Ledger so we can let him off just this time. 12 Monkeys is a great watch, I thought it was his best.
I really can't stress how bad it is. Ebert called it 'the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies.'
he didn't do the review even though it's on his site. still can't wait, that cast looks as though there's a LOT to fuck up in terms of careers and such.
So would you say it's worth seeing just for the spectacle, or should I just wait and grab it on Redbox?
I'd say skip it in theaters. If you haven't seen Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter then watch that. It's got spectacle, but at the same time the rest of the film was much better than the rest of Hansel and Gretel.
he didn't do the review even though it's on his site. still can't wait, that cast looks as though there's a LOT to fuck up in terms of careers and such.
No one actor's on for more than 15 minutes or so. Except Dennis quaid, and his career's gone anyway.
I finally got to see The Hobbit today and I really enjoyed it, not perfect but still very good. 8/10
I really can't stress how bad it is. Ebert called it 'the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies.' The first sketch is Kevin Costner and Kate winslett on a date, except he inexplicably has testicles on his chin. Oh my god, the king of comedy has arrived. He then proceeded to tea bag everything he could find. Cups of coffee, potted plant, eventually Kate winslett's open mouth. End scene. THAT WAS THE OPENING. It was beyond terrible. It's like someone took one of those stupid gimmick movies like Vampires Suck or Meet the Spartans and tried to mash it with a movie with a ton of stars, like New Years Eve or whatever.
no what I don't actually believe that could happen [editline]28th January 2013[/editline] oh wow I just read his review why even spend all the money on an ensemble cast if the script is completely terrible
Julius Caesar (1953) Rating: 8.5/10 I really enjoyed reading the play in English class so I simply had to see a film adaptation. This certainly was no disappointment. All the characters were well cast and performed exactly as I'd envisioned them. Marlon Brando gives a terrific performance as Mark Antony. James Mason and John Gielgud are fantastic as Brutus and Cassius, respectively. Louis Calhern plays Caesar wonderfully, especially in the scene where the conspirators kill him. I actually felt pretty bad for him when [sp]Brutus stabbed him and he said those famous words[/sp]. All in all, it was an excellent picture. If you get a chance and you like Shakespeare, check it out.
The Last Stand 4/10 Since I'm a huge Schwarzenegger fan I'm really sad to say this movie is crap. Most of the action scenes are super slow and horrendously edited, the pacing is painfully slow and overall it's quite boring. It starts ok, the plot is also fairly interesting, but an action movie's strenght should be the action, and it fails in that respect. Some scenes are good, like the car chases, but ugh it's not worth it at all. Just just...don't watch it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzQk8Be3EWY Our Town 8/10 I love Korean thrillers but I've seen better, it kept me hooked though.
Zero Dark Thirty - 4.5/10 Jesus this film is boring, like purposefully and obnoxiously so. The entire content of this film could be done in an hour long dramatised documentary on TV and it would have the same effect. Also I thought it was weird that at the start they use only phone clips to describe 9/11 with no footage what-so ever, but when it comes round to 7/7 they did a short CGI recreation of it followed by real life coverage. The decision felt weird for me.
movie 43: -10/10 I got dragged to this by friends because i couldnt convince them to see anything else and i want to fucking kill myself
I know it was all the worst movie anyone's ever seen, but what part did you hate the least?
when it was over
Seven Psychopaths - 8/10 I thought Christopher Walken's character deserved a larger role, but overall it was pretty friggen entertaining.
im serious there was not a single part of that movie i'd consider redeemable I hated it all equally
i saw it too we should start a support group
Here's a stress ball for all those suffering from Movie 43 syndrome [t]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_czBUN75R0lY/TFjrF6LV57I/AAAAAAAAJ20/EnOJZBP9HuU/s1600/stress_ball.jpg[/t]
Django Unchained (2nd time)- 9/10 It really grows on you after the first time you watch it.
It really does. I'm craving to watch it again, and I've already seen it twice in theaters.
Just watched End of Watch - 10/10. Was a really creatively filmed movie in my opinion, but it was an roller coaster of a film. Had funny moments, then at the flip of a switch should some horrific act or have a sad moment. Specially at the end, that shit really made you feel bad. a.i. artificial intelligence first time I watched it I was really pained by it for some weird reason. saw it again, same thing happened still can't figure it out. So all in all, i'm a robot.
The Evil Dead - 6/10 Army of Darkness - 7/10 Will I be saving the best for last with Evil Dead II? Will watch that later today.
hide before rusty comes
Hearts of Darkness - A Filmmaker's Apocalypse I knew that the production of Apocalypse was troubled but holy shit I didn't know that the situation was that bad. Anyways this is a really well made and haunting documentary and I recommend it to everyone who likes AN.
The Evil Dead - 6/10 Army of Darkness - 7/10 Will I be saving the best for last with Evil Dead II? Will watch that later today.
ed2 is the best yes and will retroactively raise your scores of the other two
Moonrise Kingdom, or The perks of being a wallflower. Which one should I see first?
Well I just finished Evil Dead II. The beginning had me confused at first, but I looked it up, and it's supposedly a recap of the first Evil Dead. The director couldn't use footage from the first one, so they re-did the important parts. I love how it picked up pretty much exactly where Evil Dead had left off after the re-cap though. It had some great scenes and special effects. I especially liked the scene where [sp]Ash fights and cuts off his own hand, and the part where blood shoots from the walls. Awesome.[/sp]. The scene at the end where [sp]the trees come alive and attack the cabin was pretty cool too.[/sp] I kind of feel like I could've skipped the first film though, since everything you really need to know is told in the first 10 minutes or so of Evil Dead II. I also think that if I had watched ED2 first, and then the first Evil Dead, I would've appreciated the first one less. I'm a sucker for practical effects and stop motion though, so I'm glad I didn't. [sp]That scene towards the end of the first Evil Dead where the zombies'(?) faces melt or something was awesome[/sp]. I give it a 7.6/10 P.S. People on IMDB get really butthurt over whether it's a sequel to- or a remake of Evil Dead 1.
new evil deads gonna own zero cgi, all practical effects which is great
Moonrise Kingdom, or The perks of being a wallflower. Which one should I see first?
Moonrise Kingdom
Iron sky 1/10. I watched it 4 days ago and i've been ill ever since. I blamed it on this film.
