I understand what you mean, but none of what you said makes it a bad movie. It's only you being a sod that breaks your enjoyment.
It aimed to explore a serious subject in a serious manner and failed, instead turning into a laughable farce.
If I wanted to watch "this is your brain on drugs" for two hours that's exactly what I'd do.
I can understand(not respect, not appreciate) the relatively inventive, albeit gimmicky way in which the story was presented, but I cannot stand it when I feel as if a director is treating me as an idiot, and that's exactly what Aronofsky did in that movie.
In that sense, I'll accept. It was one of the few movies I'd be inclined to not watch in the future. Maybe a couple times for good measure.
Four Lions
Very hilarious and pretty clever. My only issue with it is that the end felt like it dragged a bit because the conclusion seemed inevitable.
Just got back from Act Of Valor, Jesus Christ that was terrible. I feel like I payed 10$ to watch 2 hours of American propaganda.
3/10
I figured it wasn't going to do so good.
I hate movies that are filled with propaganda
Battle: LA and Independence Day for example
Paul
7/10
Enjoyable parody film but all the awkward humor really needs to die off already.

S'okay.
I will watch one of three movies depending on how I feel:
J. Edgar
The Last Samurai
Ben-Hur
Tyler Perry is my idol fuck you
Tyler Perry, or how to make a shit ton of cash making terrible movies/shows because black people can't help but enjoy watching dated stereotypes of themselves.
it's the first time i hear about this tyler perry and i just checked his entire filmography.
what the fuck.
i don't know any of his films.
[editline]25th February 2012[/editline]
are they even successful? where does he get all the money to make these films?
[editline]25th February 2012[/editline]
oh ok he made Precious that's a fairly good one I think.
he's basically the only person who markets movies to black people and makes a killing off of that
The Godfather Part II - 9/10
Don't know if I like it better than Part I.

The difference is that Al Pacino is an ass in the second one.

Haven't even watched the video but the first couple of jokes probably sum up why he's so successful.
which is sad.

The end left me feeling cold.
Equilibrium 7.5/10
The "removing emotions" thing doesn't make any sense but otherwise its really good.

holy shit
two and a half men is funny compared to this
The Soloist 7.6/10
good watch, touching at some parts
Titanic: The Legend Goes On
0/10
I decided to look up the worst movie on IMDB, it was this. It is essentially a retelling of Titanic, for kids, with the only thing that makes it Titanic being the fucking ship itself. It has a ton fo Disney cliches in it, except unlike in Disney movies, they feel extremely stale and forced.
The animation quality is atrocious, perspective problems, choppiness and skipping/rubber banding are common. Lips are rarely in sync, and animation loops are reused a horrendous amount of times. I recall one conversation part in which a character did the exact same thing 3 shots in a row.
The movie itself is just a touch under an hour, with about 10 minutes of credits so it can be considered feature length. And in that hour, it seems like they tried to mash in 3 story arcs - and failed miserably.
I dont think kids would even enjoy it. This movie is plain awful.
Sleeper
8/10
Holy shit why haven't I heard of this movie until now.
Great story and a great pace throughout the entire movie. Acting was supreme and all in all this is a movie I wont forget for a long time. If you like "revenge" movies, this is a must see.
Act of Valor 6/10
The potentially good action scenes were ruined by incredibly shaky camera, so while I was not busy having a seizure from the bright ass muzzle flashes I was getting motion sick all while trying to figure out what the hell was happening.
The plot is really rushed and the writers do a terrible job of trying to make us hate Abu Shabal (aka generic terrorist # something) by showing us how evil he is by [sp]blowing up an ice cream truck with a crowd of children around it[/sp] "do you hate him now? please?".
But the first person shots were nice, and bonus points for making me want to cry at the end. Most certainly, it wasn't worth that huge ad campaign they had going on.
^I just saw that. I don't think the action scenes were ruined by the camerawork, I understand that everyone uses it now so that it gets annoying (I doubt anyone will use it to the extremes that Battle: LA did), but it felt better in this case. Also, I didn't care for Shabal at all either, Christo was more of an interesting character (definitely need some fleshing out for Shabal, hope there's a few deleted scenes). And yeah, I almost cried too, I'm sure more than half the theater did (which also gave a standing ovation for the list of the dead).
I'd still rate it America, Fuck Yeah/10.
"The Union: The Business Behind Getting High"
9/10
Easily one of the greatest documentaries I've ever seen, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a pot smoker myself. I found it to be an incredibly interesting documentary that teaches a lot in just under 2 hours. I think most people that are completely against cannabis use would change their minds after watching it. It's an excellent documentary that should be watched by everyone.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - 9/10
Really cool movie. The action scenes, the characters, the camera work; it's all really good. Pretty funny too.
Die Hard, Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis, 8 Yippee ki-yays/10 ending was a little off [sp]not sure how that last terrorist survived the chain for that long[/sp]
Real Steel 8/10
Nowhere near as bad as I expected. Jackman put out a great performance, and the kid was pretty good too. The robots were cleverly designed and well-animated. It's hard not to make comparisons to Rocky, but I thought some parts of it (especially near the end) were similar.
I'm not sure how I feel about the world, though. I think there weren't enough futuristic elements. I like how it was in the near enough future that there wouldn't have to be flying cars and automated everything, but the robots, laptops, and tvs seemed to be the only futuristic things. Venues blasting Eminem in 2027 is like a club playing '80s music today, and (apart from an XBox 720 gag) every single logo I saw was unchanged and there weren't any new advertisements; this took me out of it a little bit.
Requiem for a Dream - 8.5/10
It's great. It was emotionally heavy for me. Definitely not as over-the-top as Shitbird said. Imo it was only a few elements, like the refrigerator, game show thing, and bachelor party thingy (?) at the end. It wasn't hilarious either, but the old lady's paranoia was humorous at bits.
I'm not a techy guy with film, but the camera work and editing seemed great, I think those set the moods really well.
