Just watched Quarantine 2: terminal
its a really good sequel to the first quarantine movie and both events are actually happening at the same time. You find out the origin of the virus in this movie as well.
The Grey, 10/10. Toy Story 3 made me cry, the latest Drizzt Do'urden book made me cry, but the Grey made me cry more.
I fucking adore this movie.
Toy story 3 made you cry? haha. I've never seen it.
I didn't really like it. It wasn't really funny, cool or dramatic. It was just kind of there.
I found it to be incredibly funny, well made, cool, dramatic, and really dark. It's definitely one of the stand out films of the year.
Wow, I wouldn't even put it anywhere near the same league as Drive.
Seriously? It's to comedy what Drive was to drama/thriller/noire/whatever.
I'm not copying them, because I have definitely thought this ever since I saw it, but even the half in the bag guys agree that Drive and Super were the most standout films of the year.

the part about AK'z thingy where he says it tries hard to be moving but isn't is entirely false if you interpret the movie a certain way (in my mind, the right way)
caragolpe, just watch the movie then read this, everyone else who has seen the movie and think it isn't deep enough read this. if you believe in death of the author this ending interpretation is wonderfully dystopian and personally one of my favorite "endings" in all of film
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minority_Report_%28film%29#Ending
Minority Report is overrated. It's just not that great, there's not a lot to it and many of the scenes end up kind of being too boring. I kind of agree it tries to be too emotional and fails.
Reservoir Dogs.
8.5/10
I've seen better from Tarantino, but this was still a great film.
Metropolis (2001) 7/10
Great animation, good voice acting, and a strong story however at the end the movie doesnt really decide what it wants to be (is it geared more for robot revolution, the romance, or greed?). The ending is well [sp] a little too cheerful for the entire city being destroyed and millions of innocent people dying, just off putting and leaves the ending scenes feel disconnected to the travesty that just occurred. [/sp]

If you grew up with the Toy Story movies then it will definitely make you cry.
I grew up with the Toy Story movies and I thought Toy Story 3 had a pretty boring story and tried too hard to be emotional riding solely of nostalgia when in reality, the story just wasn't very good. The movie feels like a wash, like it didn't have much content. I liked the previous two films, that's one of the reasons I didn't like the third one. I don't know why so many fans of the series loved this film, it was an unabashed attempt to win people over with forced sadness and nostalgia. Oh yeah I guess that's why so many fans of the previous films liked it.
Drive
10/10
Loved it.
Nothing more to add
Haha yeah that's the impression I got. Maybe just cos it's all people mention for it. Although I guess there'd be plenty before the accident too.
Also I'd give Minority Report maybe a 7.5 iirc, only saw it in the cinemas but I thought it was cool.
[editline]4th February 2012[/editline]
Also my limited edition Evil Dead boxset should be arriving any day got all them already but so much extras, gonna have to watch all 3 again lol
How'd I even DO THAT I confused Minority Report with the Adjustment Bureau literally no idea why but Minority Report is significantly better it's at least an 8

I actually loved the plot. I believe it was pretty well made, and the ending.. it was beautiful,
really exciting too

Fair enough, it just seemed a bit empty to me that's all.
[editline]4th February 2012[/editline]
watched Dancer in the Dark
I have to say I went into this movie slightly biased because I do love Bjork, in many ways. :-)
I can say it was beautiful but I personally felt hatred for what was going on. As the movie really unfolds, you just spiral into the woman's innocent need for music. She has these visions that the sound around her is part of the musical in her mind.
It expressed that we can escape the tedium of the world by simply the power of imagination. What it also shows is that despite all the pain and the anguish that life creates for itself, we can still escape.
No matter how dire the pain is, we can use the slightest distraction to be beautiful in our mind. The fact that she is going blind, makes the pain worse.
When the "very" worst was going on, I could barely watch because it was hurting. It's as though I wanted to avoid realising that society has the will to murder innocent joy.
That's when she started to sing while she was [sp]about to be hanged[/sp]. At that point you could feel that even the most heartless were experiencing her joy (I may be exaggerating but that's what I want to think).
I don't think I'd want to watch it for a long while.
50/50
Amazing movie, 10/10

Amazing movie, 10/10
Everyone here advertised it [sp]as a feel-good movie but it really wasn't after the first half, in my opinion, so I got a little bit disappointed.[/sp] really good anyway
[editline]4th February 2012[/editline]
And Seth Rogen + Joseph Gorden Levitt = Classy and I love it
its kind of a feel bad movie
yeah I don't really know why they would advertise the contrary :( I thought it would be like the big lebowski type of deal but no
i felt good at the end, even though i shed a tear when [sp]that one really cheerful guy with the nice wife died[/sp]
also i watched Chronicle
it was ok. i liked the comedy parts in the beginning more than the drama parts though because my friend guessed the entire plot of the movie beforehand and was completely spot on. although, i did enjoy the camera work in a lot of the scenes and the use of things like security cams.
and of course [sp]the black guy died first[/sp]
The Grey 9/10
Liam Neeson did not disappoint, especially with that ending.
The Third Man (1949)- 9/10
Fantastic film! Absolutely superb acting, genius very creative plot with a really fantastic twist, some of the best work with cameras (lots of twisted and distorted shots really helped to convey that idea that something's not right. Well, that and the fact that the majority of the film is based on the fact that the main character thinks there's something not quite right :v:) and lighting I've seen in a film for sure. Soundtrack was really good too, quite unique. Quick check on wiki says it was written entirely with a Zither. This is one of those films that I would have just absolutely loved to have seen in the cinema, I can just tell it'd be spectacular on the big screen.
Also, the final shot is just fucking perfect, a single shot that must run for over a minute but it's superb
Easily one of the greatest black and white films I've ever seen, for sure.
Sherlock Holmes (the first Guy Ritchie one)
7/10
For a dumb popcorn movie it was really well made.
Dr. Strangelove - 8/10
I didn't think I was going to enjoy it but I was wrong. Peter Sellers was hilarious.
Paranormal Activity 2, 3.6/10
Paranormal Activity 2, 3.6/10
wow... is it that bad?
toy story three is just as good as the rest of them. personally i love the first and third the best, the second is just a tiny bit lesser on the scale than both.
toy story 2 is the underdog, and in eyes the best. That's only because the experience was superior for me as a kid.
Clockwork Orange. Jesus that was a weird movie.
;34548416']Clockwork Orange. Jesus that was a weird movie.
clockwork orange ain't got shit on weird.
well now anyway.
the shining
four and a half pocornstars of five golden apples.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - probably the best movie I've seen in the last, I dont know, 5 years or so/10
My Name Is Bruce (2007)
If it wasn't for Bruce Campbell and the total meta-ness of the plot this would probably sit on like a 5 but I have to knock it up to maybe a 7 because of Bruce Campbell and I liked his role.
Worth watching if you're a Campbell fan, if you've not heard of Bruce Campbell/seen his films I can't see this being appreciated very much. Good amount of nice laughs in it as well.
