the synopsis sounds so incredibly bland and generic
but I assume it's good, from what you guys said
I agree with you. When I first looked at the movie a long time ago I was pushed away by how generic it seemed and even know after rewatching the trailer I am still like meh.
Battle Royale - 10/10
This is now my favorite movie of all time. What really gets me about it is how these kids are put into the most cruel of situations and how over time it's like you begin to know them. The characters have depth and reason for the ways they behave, and it's this knowledge of them that makes the emotional impact of their fates even greater on me than in any other movie I can recall. That said, many a manly tear were shed, and after watching such an amazing film, I am not afraid to admit that fact.
tbf I can only say it looked bad since I haven't seen it, I retract that statement
sorry but it owns

the synopsis purposely leaves out the main plot arch so that it comes as a surprise.

The title of the movie is poor, the movie itself is pretty damn good.

It's not an ordinary "comedy" at all. Whoever wrote that synopsis is a moron.
21 Jump Street
Most of the film was pretty hilarious, something that you rarely get in comedies these days. It had great timing and execution of the dialogue, which was for the most part fuckin hilarious. The part where they trip during school is the best part of the film [sp]"fuck you science"[/sp]. The plot overtook the comedy toward the end, but even the greats like Hot Fuzz succumb to this.
All in all, a really unexpectedly funny comedy (although once I learned it was by the guys who did Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs it all made sense). Would highly recommend.

safe to assume that the trailers were misleading then? because the trailers made it look p terrible
yeah the trailers didnt do it much justice (some bits werent even in the film)
Watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was alright but a bit predictable.
I wouldn't really recommend it to a friend to be honest.
which version, american or swedish
which version, american or swedish
I think we can assume, for now, that people are watching the American version.
Daniel Craig version

I thought Battle Royale was a piece of shit.
I don't remember the characters being particularly well-developed or interesting(in fact the only interesting character in the movie was the antagonist, and he was silent and had like 5 minutes of screen time), I don't remember the plot being particularly compelling, although it had potential(in fact I distinctly remember predicting EXACTLY what was going to happen next several times, and that's never a good sign), and I certainly don't remember any moment in the movie which was moving or touching in any way.
In fact the movie was at its worst when it tried to be moving or touching, due to how forced and stale those moments were.
Some of the action and the cinematography was okay I guess, but the movie was still pretty bad.

So edgy, telling someone to end their life over their opinion of a movie.

the pacing is fucked and it's very disjointed. it's almost like a schizophrenic version of babel.
How is The Grey?

Very good. 8/10 atleast.
Good story, quite thrilling.
Did you enjoy the story?
Yeah when I woke up the next day, I thought about it and I was like "that was a fuckin sweet film"
Going to watch Howls moving castle tonight.

yes it's very good but there were some unrealistic things that I didn't digest
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol 7/10.
I figured it for another shitty sequel to a series that was not all that bad at the start...and it was. It has some pretty exciting scenes in it but the story was very WTF worthy at some points.
Get Him to the Greek

I wish this thread was more active. I need to be able to find movies I have never heard of or have long forgotten about so I can watch an A+ movie in the middle of the night.
