The Thing (2011) 0/10 All it did was pay homage to the first one. It tried nothing new and bores me to tears. After watching that filth I'm going to watch the Carpenter version.
The Pianist 9/10 excellent movie. I can understand why they chose Adrien Brody as the jew.
the hands.
nah, it's the nose. also, my aunt sold a boat to adrien brody, and she forced him to go to her birthday party.
fuck that. pianist hands are hard to find, and he's got them. [editline]27th March 2012[/editline] well, he totally does have a jew nose...
Battle Royal (2000) 7/10
i think someone needs to change the title to rate the last movie you watched and why
i think someone needs to change the title to rate the last movie you watched and why
ironically you didn't give a reason why.
In Bruges - 9/10 I'm a sucker for dark comedy and there is plenty to go around in this film. I especially appreciate how the paintings in the chapel the main characters visit toward the beginning depicting purgatory are then used to hint that the main characters themselves are in a purgatory-like state, being in Bruges. The thick accents also help to make the film more enjoyable, at least for me. The Girl Next Door - 8/10 I was surprised how good this movie is now that I've finally gotten around to seeing the entire thing. Sure it does have its Hollywood-stereotyped high school moments, but for the most part I think it is well-written and is convincing enough in its own right. It's a fun, feel-good teen film, but I enjoyed it.
ironically you didn't give a reason why.
Because he wasn't reviewing a film.
watching misery, man kathy bates looks the part of an obsessed fan [editline]28th March 2012[/editline]
wat
Man the end when [sp]he starts shoving the story down her throat[/sp] was satisfying
The Taking Of Pelham 123 (2009) 6/10 ending was cliche, as were some other parts too, slightly over the top
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest I'm depressed now, great movie if not one that makes you feel like shit inside. Don't think it captured the feel of a mental institute but was still great. I remember reading a Cracked article on mental health, and how it's misleading to think that kind of treatment cures them. They weren't cured, they were still as fucked up as ever, just having more fun. Billy probably needed that kind of confidence boost and would've done well, shame about all that afterwards.
The Iron Lady 7/10
Watched Casablanca. While watching, you feel as though it might be just a standard 40s romantic drama flick. But the difference here, is that it is intense with feeling and love. Not only that but Conrad Veidt as the Nazi general adds real fear to the situations. The jazz piano singer makes you feel positive about it, but when you take in terms with the reality of the situation, the happiness he brings is thrown aside. Humphrey Bogart is pretty damn cool too, there's no doubt about this man, he's as real as they get. And when the end arrives in the way it does, you have the admiration to shake that man's hand. He comes off as selfish at first, but his true colours show through. It doesn't have a WHOLE lot of depth and really easy to watch, but it's a classic in its own right.
Lars and the Real Girl 6/10 It was an alright film despite being a little dull. There were some parts of it that made me smile and some parts were just so awkward to watch.
The Rum Diary - 6.5/10 I tried writing down a few things about this movie as it went on, so I could try to give a better review with more depth. Also because I was bored (no internet) and decided to try something new. It starts out pretty slow, but that didn't affect me much. Not much happens in the first 20-30 minutes, and the characters aren't exactly likable, in fact, the main character is sort of shallow. The plot is sort of meh, absolutely nothing really interesting happens in the movie (no big twists or incredible surprises). However, the soundtrack, setting and overall atmosphere are pretty good, and probably the things that got me interested in the movie, it’s very easy to get immersed in it. The main problem I noticed with it is the writing: it has lots of ups and downs, some parts are really interesting or funny, some parts don’t look like they belong in this movie, and some others are just plain boring. I even noticed that I wrote things like “I’m really liking this movie”, then “wow this is pretty bad”, not even 5 minutes after. The acting is decent for the most part, although I didn’t like Amber Heard that much. Some of the dialogue is just bad, though. It’s sort of hard to relate to the characters, but it’s easy to like them. It does feel like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (you know why), even if it’s just a tiny bit (very tiny). Ending felt a little rushed, too Overall, it’s a meh movie. You could either say it’s a good film with some really bad parts, or a bad movie that has it’s moments. I wouldn’t recommend it, unless someone specifically asked for a very chill movie. Worth the watch? Yes. Does it have anything special to offer? Absolutely not.
quick question, is Eraserhead suitable to watch with family or alone? and are there any nude scenes in it :s?
quick question, is Eraserhead suitable to watch with family or alone? and are there any nude scenes in it :s?
I'd strongly advice against watching it with your family, especially if you have younger siblings. The movie has an incredibly creepy atmosphere and will most likely cause nightmares for younger people.
Just watched Jesus of Montreal, actually really good, and pretty funny. Not sure what I'd rate it though, it's so unusual. Wouldn't say it's great, but it's really worth a watch.
quick question, is Eraserhead suitable to watch with family or alone? and are there any nude scenes in it :s?
Invite as many children as possible. that sounded better in my head
quick question, is Eraserhead suitable to watch with family or alone? and are there any nude scenes in it :s?
any movie is suitable alone unless you are easily freaked out. Also unless your family is really far out, I'd keep that movie to yourself. The freakiest thing I've shown people is Aphex Twin, which is nothing compared to the real shit.
Got back from a movie night with some friends and we actually felt stupid enough to watch North... Holy shit, I cannot believe it seriously pulled a Dallas on us. Hell, not even Bruce Willis in a bright pink bunny outfit could make up for it. It's probably up there with Biodome in terms of how ungodly not funny it is. We also watched Street Fighter: The Movie. Also very bad but the good kind of bad. Well except maybe for the casting. Seriously, you've got a character who's so American he practically shits apple pie and he's played by a Belgian dude with a French accent? And why do cast an Aussie to play a Brit? Yes, they have similar accents but they are actually distinguishable from eachother! How the hell did they think that was a good idea. Oh, and of course it's got one of the best lines in any movie ever. 40 seconds into this clip.
