Thriller is a movie now? Or are you counting the music video?
The Artist: 1/10
The Descendants: 2/10
Don't waste your fucking time with either of these shitmovies, the academy is clueless
The LadyKillers (1955): 6.5/10
The humor didn't appeal to me very much, but it had a good story and great acting otherwise.

mind giving a reason for that?
I don't know, I actually liked his voice warped. It made him seem a lot less human.
that's the thing though. it's more surreal if you have this fucked up mutated bunny mask and suit walking around talking with a voice so cool it's almost soothing.
that's called dissonance. and it's awesome

The Descendants reminds me of the kids are all right and that movie was shit, clooney is still cool though
The artist was boring, everything was in French and it was a try hard academy dicksuck film
watching donnie darko, it's weird seeing maggie gyllenhaal before her cheeks started devouring her face

everything was in french, what?
I thought the movie was somewhat decent though, not that terrible. total shit though if you compare it to chaplin.

Possibly the best movie ever created by man or clown.
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind - 10/10
I found a thread on Reddit which had people on reddit listing off their favorite movie and why. This was one of the movies I came across have had not seen. When I found it had Jim Carry in it I thought it was going to be one of his best comedy roles ever. I asked myself "How have I not seen or heard of this?"
I started watching it almost instantly and was kind of turned off at first. Everything about how it is made clearly pushes "this is not a comedy" and I thought I was just wasting my time (This thought was in the first 10 minutes). For whatever reason I decided to stick with it and then started to notice the plot and was hooked.
This is really a masterpiece and has struck me in a way few movies ever have. I am sure I'll have to rewatch this again down the road.

Anything can be shit when compared to Chaplin. :v:
But The Artist being "just a homage", I'm not too sure what else you could compare it to.

The Academy is clueless, but who watches those movies because "the acadamy says so".

This is pretty crazy, I never thought about The Academy as an institution, but as a sort of meta-reality show.
It's okay that they're there, but I don't give a shit if anything won 9 oscars, good for the producers.. they get more money.
It only tells me that "unworthy recognition" has been bestowed on them. What really matters are the opinions shared.
The Descendants, Hugo and The Artist are not for everybody.
We Have To Talk About Kevin and Drive were ignored. AS was Gran Torino before, so don't think their opinion means much.
But the Academy is truly American and intertwined with Hollywood isn't it? Seems typical that movies outside that circle would be ignored.
In the past many great actors in independant movies won best actor.
Daniel Day Lewis won it and that movie was never mainstream.
I see. I learned something.
I tend to not pay attention to those accolade things unless a movie I already appreciate won something.
everything was in French
worst reason I've ever seen
I can't say much about it being a try hard academy film (I haven't actually watched it), but well, whatever
Shutter Island: sawitcomingfromamileaway/10
I remember watching a film with the same ending.
I tend to think shutter island might have "borrowed" it cause the film wasn't popular.

how do you mean "same ending", you mean a twist?
how do you mean "same ending", you mean a twist?
I just can't remember the title. The film was about a psychiatrist who was trying to cure a patient, [sp]in the end you find out that the psychiatrist was actually the patient, and the supposed patient was actually the true psychiatrist. So during the film you are in a delusional world.[/sp] It's not the same exact thing, but it's obviously similar. Especially the twist ending.

Sounds kinda like Persona?
Sounds kinda like Persona?
I'm intrigued to see this.
Sounds kinda like Persona?
it's not that. It's quite recent. Probably released between 1995 and 2005.
It's not really a good film, it just came to my mind while watching shutter island. So I pretty much anticipated the twist ending, and wasn't caught by surprise.
That's a shame.
I've been looking up psychiatry movie lists, but just can't find it. Must be quite an obscure and unpopular movie.
I'm intrigued to see this.
It's great, I recommend it.
So yeah I just completed The Tree Of Life. This is certainly different. The story is very vague. I feel it's very "loose" too, subject to many interpretations. The feel is just, ambiguous. I'd watch it again to make a better critique, but not to enjoy it. I think I've got a gist of its goal and I think its execution is decent. I feel like this style can be honed, developed, and refined into to something amazing. 6.75/10 for now.

This is one of few films that I can watch over and over without being sick of it. Great movie, well worth a watch.
21 jump street 8/10
Hilarious movie
Hunter Prey 8/10
Great story, and great effects and make-up work for a lower-budget film. Has that indescribable quality that makes low budget sci-fi films great.
The Informer - Very mediocre. Would not rewatch or recommend. 5/10
Edit: I hate to be so harsh, but it didn't really do anything for me :(
