Eureka (by Shinji Aoyama- 9/10
I'm still working my mind around this one, it's 3.5 hours long so there's a lot to contemplate. inspiring movie to say the least. and fantastic sepia cinematography, wonderful minimal score, and some additional music my jim orourke and albert ayler was a nice surprise.

This is a movie I need to watch. Although I'm still in Lawrence of Arabia mode. :-)
The hunger games 9/10
I am officially a sucker for this movie
This is a movie I need to watch. Although I'm still in Lawrence of Arabia mode. :-)
it's absolutely essential viewing for life watch it.
also, recently I saw Diaries Notes and Sketches, which was totally fantastic, you need to see that. completely abandons any idea of what movies are supposed to be. it really is just diaries, notes and sketches in the form of filming and audio recordings.
Crazy Stupid Love - my inner movie critic says 8.5/10, but I really want to give it a 10/10.
The movie felt sort of shallow early on. Interesting, with some awesome camera shots, scenes, and soundtrack, not to mention really immersible, because I couldn't take my eyes off it, but it did feel a little emotionless and rushed. The dialogue in this movie is simply incredible, and those first few parts really show that. The writing is awesome, and the acting is surprisingly good, I won't lie when I say that I expected the kid to be as annoying as kids in movies are, but he was, in fact, very good. The plot feels sort of generic at first, but of course it doesn't stay that way. It breaks that impression after a while, and although it is predictable at times, the movie manages to surprise and impress with every moment.
I admit, I always liked Steve Carell, despite him being in some really awful movies, and I also think that Ryan Gosling is a new favorite, I'm definitely watching any movies he appears in, from now on.
Also, it's pretty damn funny
The Prestige - 9.5/10
Starsky and Hutch - 10/10
That was one of the best movies I've ever watched.
which one
Peter Jackson's King Kong- 8.5/10
I love this movie more than I should. If it weren't for this movie, I wouldn't have had the ambition to become a film-maker.
I was only 11 when I first saw the 1933 version of King Kong and I thought it was the best movie I had ever seen at the time, even though all my friends thought it was boring for whatever reason. I didn't care! It was an adventure! The special effects were awesome for the time it was made and even as an 11 year old kid, I was able to put myself in the position of a kid in 1933.
The only reason I saw the original is because the new one looked so awesome that I figured I should watch the original first.
It's not as good as I remember it being in 2005, but I still enjoy it quite a bit. I'm never bored while watching it, which is great, but there were a couple things that I didn't like:
Look, I understand that IT'S A FUCKING APE RUNNING AROUND NEW YORK near the end, but to be honest, I thought it was melodramatic as hell at times. For example, that bit with Kong and Ann Darrow sliding around on the ice. It just felt overly cutesy and out of place, especially since there were guns being fired like crazy about 2 minutes beforehand. Are you trying to tell me that they let Kong go ice skating for 3 minutes without firing a single shot? Maybe it's nit-picking, but for me, the only thing that brings the movie down are those little melodramatic moments that in the end of it, just aren't needed.
I got the Extended Deluxe 3-disc edition back when it first came out because I loved it so much and like I said, it still holds up fine for me, even if my opinion is heavily biased due to the effect it had on me at 11.
Wow.
I think it's probably Jackson's worst movie.
Over-long, Jack Black was horribly miscast, the over-use of slow motion shots, the acting was pretty bad all around except for Naomi Watts, Kong, and Adrian Brody.
The 1933 Kong is indeed fantastic though.
Lawrence of Arabia
Pretty damn good epic, what I like about these epics are the fact that it wants you to be absorbed to the very stretch.
That being said, I preferred the section prior to the intermission. I don't know but if it did end at the intermission, I would have still said it was fantastic. Thereafter it is still all the same, albeit darker than the first half but I think the starter was the most memorable for me.
Peter O'Toole's strengths to pull the movie through are worthy, there's not many lone actors who can make a large epic so good to watch.
It'll need a rewatch or two for it to fully sink in. For a 3 and a half hour movie, it's surprisingly easy to watch too, very soothing.
shawshank redemption was amazing.
My first time watching. Made me cry.
Am I the only want to feel bad for the guard?

Fucking insect scene.
And the dancing on ice was a bit pointless.
Hunter with Willem Dafoe
10/10 intriguing and beautifully shot
In the past many great actors in independant movies won best actor.
Daniel Day Lewis won it and that movie was never mainstream.
token critically acclaimed film I guess

I had never actually seen Jaws before; seen bits of pieces of its sequels but never the original. I knew how it ended, but didn't know there was a book. Got a hold of a copy, I really didn't think a friggen novel about shark attacks could in any way be gripping, exciting, or thrilling. Man was I wrong, the novel is all of the above, and horrifying. [sp]The revelation that the fucking thing was intelligent was the absolutely terrifying for me. When the author (Benchely) started adding human traits to the shark like the fucking grin holy shit.[/sp]
Alright now I'm just gonna ramble about all the shit that amazed the hell out of me and why I love this movie.
So I expected the film to streamline the fuck out of it, that they wouldn't be able to pull off a decent shark prop for 1975, and that they'd get rid of the whole idea that [sp]the shark is intelligent[/sp]. Well I was only partially right, they say a few lines "You ever had a shark do this before?" "No". But that didn't even matter because everything else was exciting as fuck. Fucking AWESOME how they didn't [sp]show the shark until halfway through, the scene in the pond where the shark kills that teacher and puts Michael Brody into shock.[/sp] Man my heart jumped a few beats. And last act of the film, the hunt. I did not think the shark would be convincing looking at all but holy fuck when [sp]it pops its head out of the water to catch some chum[/sp]. The subsequent scenes, holy shit I could not get over how enormous the fucking thing was. I was glued to my fucking seat this is probably my new favorite movie goddamn.

Every time I see that poster I think of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bALFpn2tJd4
50/50 - 8/10
Serenity- 9.5/10
Great story, acting, memorable characters, action and surprisingly creepy at points. Seems like the ending Firefly deserves. The only thing I can think of that I didn't like was [sp] Wash's death. I mean, it sets up the scene as if it's a last stand for the entire crew, and as if it was going to end in all of their deaths since the beginning, and a couple of characters even accept that they're going to die, but then the only one who dies is Wash. I think they spent too much time setting up a last stand for it not to be a last stand, is what I mean. [/sp]
I do agree that [sp]death[/sp] felt very unnecessary and like joss was just putting the final nail in the coffin for the series to really never fuckin come back.
I thought Serenity sucked
it was cool to have some new firefly but apart from that I don't think I learnt anything useful from it or saw anything I hadn't seen before
so i guess maybe sucked is a bit harsh but really they didn't need to make serenity imo

Synedoche, New York 10/10
The story itself is enough to put someone in tears but if you apply almost any of the underlying messages to your own life it can strike deep. I cannot put into words how deeply I was moved and that there is still a lot to understand from the movie. I plan to rewatch this again soon.
If you're someone who is into very heavy drama and critical thinking this movie is for you.

"2005 kong is shit becoz shit actingzorz, but 1933 kong is winzz!"
What? 1933 kong was absolutely beaten to a pulp and fed its own feces with the new film. It's a master-piece since it actually gives Kong a soul and the movie has an actual plot with an incentive beyond "Giant monkey takes girl" It's actually a developed relationship now and you actually feel sad when he's dying.
You got issues son.
50/50 - 8/10
I actually just saw this too.
I'd give it a 7. A few parts were hilarious but that's the problem, just a few. I know it isn't strictly a comedy and the drama/romance was done pretty well but it just didn't leave much of an impression.=.

I'm not afraid to admit that I did not get this movie. I mean I got the whole death being inevitable thing but pretty much everything else went way over my head. Not my idea of an enjoyable movie.
The Green Mile. 10/10
Probably my favorite movie of all time. Made me cry. Forrest Gump is on My Favorite Movies of All Time list too.
That movie needs a lot of rewatches lol
In my opinion, they shouldn't. Why should I have to spend 6 hours of my life rewatching the same movie just to fully understand it? A good movie should have a complex plot but not be so incomprehensible that you can still work it out as you're watching it. That's enjoyable.
Why should I have to spend 6 hours of my life rewatching the same movie just to fully understand it?
Sorry to be blunt, but I wasn't saying "watch it more to learn how to enjoy it", rather "get more out of it" if you liked it.

I don't see how you can enjoy watching something that you do not understand. I was just posting my opinion.
I saw the last 30-45 minutes or so of that film once
most confusing 45 minutes of my life
