In my opinion, they shouldn't. Why should I have to spend 6 hours of my life rewatching the same movie just to fully understand it? A good movie should have a complex plot but not be so incomprehensible that you can still work it out as you're watching it. That's enjoyable.
I know it's worthless same goes for music (to an extent) after the 8th listen you should throw it out
I don't see how you can enjoy watching something that you do not understand. I was just posting my opinion.
Perhaps you don't see the irony in things. It's mindbending, and the experience of the mind being bent feels good for me. :-) [editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
after the 8th listen you should throw it out
How's that in any way like a movie. After about 4 or 5 listens you're able to fully digest the experiences in the music. Movies are a lot more about your appreciation in details.
Songs don't last 2 hours.
"2005 kong is shit becoz shit actingzorz, but 1933 kong is winzz!" What? 1933 kong was absolutely beaten to a pulp and fed its own feces with the new film. It's a master-piece since it actually gives Kong a soul and the movie has an actual plot with an incentive beyond "Giant monkey takes girl" It's actually a developed relationship now and you actually feel sad when he's dying. You got issues son.
I acknowledged the Kong with personality thing by lumping him in with the good acting quips. You're a fucking moron. Besides, my problems with the movie extend further than just the acting. It had serious pacing issues.

Back when i was young, if a movie was too long, i sped it up! Why do you think that Vinyl Record players had different RPM settings?
Holy shitstain, how did I not think of that before?
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist - 6/10 It was enjoyable, some of the scenes drag on for way to long though.
Songs don't last 2 hours.
albums do.
The Green Mile. 10/10 Probably my favorite movie of all time. Made me cry. Forrest Gump is on My Favorite Movies of All Time list too.
I cried manly tears at The Green Mile. Had the misfortune of watching Sand Sharks tonight. Dear oh dear... I picked this up under the same train of thought as Rubber. My god, what was I thinking? They both have incredibly silly subjects but where Rubber has a super silly premise and acts accordingly, Sand Sharks gets the first part done but completely flunks the second part. The premise is laughable, the CGI's a joke, the acting's horrendous and it's overall incredibly dumb. The only thing that's even remotely redeemable about this movie is the fact that there's some decent-looking women for eyecandy. Oh, if only I had watched the trailer beforehand... Inception 8/10 Very good film, It's sad many poeple pan this film saying it sucks because they didn't grasp the story. I might've watched it on DVD so I could rewind some dialogue but it sure wasn't that hard to follow

It's just what I enjoy, not what I think all movies should do.
Oddly enough I just watched Dragnet from 1987 with Dan Aykroyd Tom Hanks and I can see what they were going for but I give them a 6/10
welp. :/ Stalker - 10/10 best thing I've ever seen
Roadside Picnic or Stalker?
i.. huh? never read roadside picnic but I've been looking for it
will watch the following: I need more Sidney Lumet so: The Verdict Dog Day Afternoon also Come and See City of God Eight and a Half
Sunshine 7/10. Pretty good movie. I would give it a lower score if it weren't for the space suits and the soundtrack.
Roadside Picnic or Stalker?
I'm not sure there is a Roadside Picnic movie. It's a good theme but the book itself is only ok, Stalker is pretty damn good.
fair enough, i hated stalker :v: put me to sleep
fair enough, i hated stalker :v: put me to sleep
If a movie does that, think of it as a movie that "relaxes" you to the upmost power. That's not a bad thing.
seriously if the film wasn't 3 hours long I would have liked it so much more
The Adventures of Tintin - 6.5/10... Eh, the CGI was pretty but I didn't like that they basically rebooted the series and had everyone not know eachother... despite showing all of the news clippings of past cases and the like. The adventure element was also surprisingly lax.
seriously if the film wasn't 3 hours long I would have liked it so much more
There's no point in bite-sizing a movie to make it easier. What happened to Once Upon a Time in America, try that 5 hour mammoth.
seriously if the film wasn't 3 hours long I would have liked it so much more
It was slow paced but so what. I guess the biggest problem was you had to invest yourself into it a lot because the feel of it isn't obvious. For the most part it looks like they're just wandering around in the woods, easy to miss a lot of the tension and general story. I still like it. The wife's monologue at the end is a bit retarded but otherwise it's good.
fuck that no movie is worth five hours of my time
Sometimes it's better to experience being relaxed than convincing yourself that you're bored all the time. :v:
Carlito's Way 8/10 Never gets old, love Pacino. [sp]Love Pacino..LOVE HIM![/sp] [editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
There's no point in bite-sizing a movie to make it easier. What happened to Once Upon a Time in America, try that 5 hour mammoth.
Once Upon et cetera is perhaps my favorite film. I love watching it every time. I also saw the edited american version, as they were too scared of it's complex plot and breathtaking 3 hour 40 minute length...it was horrible. In my opinion, long films, if they are genuinely good, then they grasp you better than the normal 90 minute good film. Then again, they have to be good 3 hours to grasp you, otherwise it's a massive suckfest (I'm looking at you Avatar)
iron sky 8.5/10 loved it loved the [sp]finland joke, "hitler gets banned" reference, and the north-korea great leader thing :v [/sp] Don't click spoilers if you don't want to ruin some surprises
will watch the following: I need more Sidney Lumet so: The Verdict Dog Day Afternoon also Come and See City of God Eight and a Half
city of god is coolio. COME AND SEE IS FUCKING AMAZING WATCH IT [editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
I dunno, I was expecting a couple anomalies and maybe a mutated wolf or two, it didn't have to be the whole movie but there wasn't anything that grabbed my attention i'll try again one of these days
yep that's the problem. embrace the dull stuff, all that stuff is exactly what makes it so beautiful. it's a really dreamy film. and definitely something to watch alone. very spiritual movie. I didn't even realise it was three hours
