Chinatown 10/10 I'm not kidding, this is the only film alive that I can respectfully give a 10. It's perfect in every way and, no joke, the best film I've ever seen. I especially love the Chinatown motif, [sp]that it means failure and not being able to do anything, reflecting on the end[/sp]
God Bless America - 7.5/10 Comparisons to Super (2010) are too easy so I won't go on about them, but, the main character, Frank, decides that he can't live in a world with "bad" people any more and makes it his personal mission to kill people that deserve to die. Along the way he meets a young girl who shares his ideals and she becomes his sidekick. They kill a lot of people. There are similarities, but they aren't detrimental to the film and it would be silly to say the film had "copied" Super. Firstly, I would encourage pretty much all facepunchers to watch this movie, it seems like one of those movies that people who frequent the internet's darkest depths would enjoy, I bet 4chan will like it. As someone who detests talent shows such as "Insert Country Here's" Got Talent I found myself rooting for Frank (played by Joel Murray, brother of Bill) as he tried to protect the weak people who are so often exploited for views. The reveal at the end [sp]The man that Frank initially thought he was protecting turned out to only want to get on tv[/sp] rang true. I'd also like to mention Tara Lynn Barr, the young actress who played Frank's 'sidekick' Roxy. I much preferred her over the obnoxious Libby from Super. I think she'll grow up to be a very competent actress indeed. So yeah, see this film. It's good.
It was a fantastic ending. A nice change from either the group being killed by the monsters or getting out alive. [editline]8th April 2012[/editline] Also I just noticed Dale and Andrea are in that movie.
It was stupid and unnecessary.
I dislike that movie. The photography was exaggerated, like they wanted to shoot it all "cool" with filter raping and shit, and the story was kind of lame.
I don't really get the filter rape comment, but I did think the beginning was a little disorienting, with all of those super close up shots.
How's the artist? Overrated?
Just watched Eraserhead idk what to rate it But it was a mission to get through. Not because it was ~toodeep4me~ or too surreal or anything just thought it was kinda boring it dragged on massively It seemed like it kinda tried to be too out there instead of actually being out there idk It wasn't terrible it was pretty weird I dunno it was ok I guess won't bother watching it again I don't think. I usually leave weirder films to come back to them but honestly I don't think there's a lot of point with this since there's nothing really to work out from it. What happened happened and it didn't really have much meaning to any of it as far as I can tell. Just a bunch of random weird shit.
It was stupid and unnecessary.
Idk about that, but I felt it was ironic in a somewhat comedic way, not dramatic. It didn't convince me.

[editline]8th April 2012[/editline]
How's the artist? A lot of people seem to dislike The Artist because of its success, make of that what you will.
The Divide 10/10 Fucking awesome movie and it really goes to show how fucked up people can get. Apollo 18 4/10 movie was a piece of shit. Camera held movies aren't really my thing with the exception of cloverfield.
I don't really get the filter rape comment, but I did think the beginning was a little disorienting, with all of those super close up shots.
it seemed like one of those photography test films you find on vimeo made into a movie
Good Will Hunting 9/10 Watched it in my Psychology class, wasn't expecting much, but I absolutely loved it. One of, if not, the very best movie I've ever seen.
Yet you only give it a 9? I'm going to watch that tonight for the first time, actually. I'm in a movie watching mood.
I tend not to give out 10s for things, as there's generally room for improvement in anything. That said though, on second thought, I can't really think of anything in need of improvement. :v:

It's good, bad and ugly. [editline]9th April 2012[/editline] Saw We Have to Talk About Kevin Inspired bit of overlooked goodness. Will talk more when has sunk in.
Shelter 8/10
True Lies Very good movie, and just when I thought I was done with cheesy Arnie movies from the 90's. It has likable characters that don't feel shallow, and lots of good action, two things that many modern movies can't put together (MI Ghost Protocol did it rather well, though). The effects are very nice, they look real and well made, no CGI crap. The action scenes were also very good, I especially liked the first few scenes. And yes, it's cheesy. However, it's not the cringe-worthy kind of cheesyness, but "holy shit, that's awesome" kind of cheesyness. Some scenes had the kind of things that Rambo does, but so well done that make you enjoy them for how cheesy they are, instead of going "hey, that's not realistic at all, this is stupid". Some scenes are just really over the top [sp](machine gun falling down the stairs and killing everyone)[/sp], but fit the movie so well, it's surprising. It was also very funny, some of the writing is just genius. However, I felt that the ending was way too silly, even for this kind of movie. No other big complaints, it was an enjoyable film, and it does it's job. Also -You're fired
The Divide - 9/10 I really enjoyed watching it. It was a little annoying how long it took for [sp]Eva to kill the bad guys, and the scene where Sam shot Adrian out of all the people he could've.[/sp]
i didnt mind the divide
The Michael Biehn movie? looks pretty good, got to love nuclear war movies.
Requiem for a Dream - 9/10 Great Directing by Darren Aronofsky Solid acting but not great Clint Mansell provided a great soundtrack
The Michael Biehn movie? looks pretty good, got to love nuclear war movies.
its trashy and not very good. but also a little bit good and enjoyable. but mainly the protagonist is hot like a hotter younger milla jovovich
Alien - 10/10 A classic horror masterpiece, recieved the Blu Ray Anthology on Saturday and had a marathon, I'll post the rest of the reviews later. Alien was my favorite horror film as a kid, the jump scares I got before still made me jump, this movie def needs to be watched by a horror/sci fi fan. It combines the mysteries of space and aliens with a shit your pants horror sequence.
back to the future 10/10 back to the future part II 8/10 I felt like it went a bit overboard with special effects and the sci-fi aspect. and the end wasn't nearly as climatic as the other's back to the future part III 9/10 all in all, really solid trilogy. sharply written. very charming. i loved how certain elements and jokes ran throughout all the three films, and how they're all completely continuous
American Reunion - 8.5/10. As a big fan of the series, I have to say it was the funniest movie I've seen ALL year. Then again, it's only April. But it's a must see if you're a fan of the series, or have seen the first original three.
Tin tin The animation was great but for an adventure movie it was kinda boring and very artificial, going through motions like an imitation of 80s classics like indiana jones. action scenes were impressive but it just didnt have the charm to be memorable and so is just ineffective as a movie I also think making it an origin story was a bad idea, unnecessary and just slowed down the plot
i loved how certain elements and jokes ran throughout all the three films, and how they're all completely continuous
oh... mom? thank god, I just had a horrible nightmare
Shame 8/10 Pretty intense. Martyrs 9/10 Got curious after it being mentioned a few pages back. Ended up seeing it alone and I could barely resist fast forwarding it a couple of times. Such a gruesome showcase of suffering. But really good, much better than those human centipede films imo. I could really do with an uplifting movie now, any recommendations?
The Warrior 10/10 OH GAWD TOMMY! So sad, could'nt take my eyes away from the screen. Please watch it if you have not.
I could really do with an uplifting movie now, any recommendations?
The Iron Giant.

I couldn't stand Adrian he was such a massive pussy
