Avengers Assemble (3D regrettably, couldn't see people's faces for the first half) 9/10 It is incredible. The final third is the best mindless cinema I've seen. It's not to everyone's taste of course, upon leaving the cinema I overheard someone (who had been sitting right at the front, making farting noises occasionally and using their phones) saying that it wasn't as good as transformers, they didn't know who anyone was in the film and that they didn't like Wonder Woman. I despair. [editline]29th April 2012[/editline] Also, it's amazing that Joss Whedon managed to get so much of his trademark style across, considering the amount of studio meddling there surely was. The first time some of the superhero's have a bit of a tussle was a spine tingling moment, and every moment the Hulk is on screen is absolutely breathtaking. [sp]when he absolutely destroys Loki at the end[/sp] was everyone's favourite moment judging by the reaction in the cinema.

It's got plenty of humor but it never really feels forced or particularly out of place.

I haven't seen Captain America or Thor but the film still made complete sense to me.

That's why I've just ordered The Incredible Hulk and Captain America. Already have Iron Man 2 and Thor lying around here somewhere.

Act of Valor 6.2/10 Really nothing special. The first person filming was pretty cool at times though.

The Avengers Ok, now, I don't think it's a "good" movie. I mean, I usually classify movies as "good" or "cool". A cool movie can also be, by general definition, good, but it's not the same kind of good. Drive is a cool-looking movie, but it's what I call "good", because people won't leave the movie saying "wow that was awesome!", unlike in a movie like mission impossible. Basically, what I call cool movies are the kind of movies that most people like, action flicks with lots of explosions and fighting, but they can also be 'good' movies, because they aren't necessarily style over substance, they just offer more entertainment for the masses. Now, even though I think Avengers is both, it's definitely more of a "cool" movie than a "good" movie. The dialogue is pretty clever, some lines were really good, and so was the writing. Things like [sp]Iron Man interrupting Thor's speech to Loki, and Hulk punching Thor out of nowhere[/sp], some stuff that was just really fun to see. Felt a little out of place, sometimes, though. The visuals were stunning (I'm probably going to laugh at this statement in a few years), but the camera shake was pretty bad at times. The thing that I admire the most in this movie, however, is how they managed to make so much happen in so little time. They managed to put the "meet the heroes" parts, the arguments, the final battle and pretty much everything else there, and the movie wasn't even that long. The beginning was meh, but the flow of the movie wasn't interrupted at any time, which made it a really good experience. what can I say, it's a cool super hero movie also, I bought a hulk cup

You could say icecold instead of good. Icecold is cooler than cool. errmm... yeah.

The Matrix - 9/10 It still holds up

Chronicle 8/10 although it was a handheld camera movie, it didn't really feel like one. The story was interesting and the characters memorable. I liked it.

Tron (1983) Personally, I found this movie boring as fuck. The visuals are amazing for its time, but the story feels bland.... It feels like they went all out with the visuals and had nothing left for the story. Overall, 5/10. I will watch the sequel later.

Tron was never great in the story department. Both movies are basically just eye and ear candy(minus dialogue).

I liked it.[/QUOTE] Not a lot of films can do found footage the right way, often times it just comes off too gimmicky and/or cheesy. Like District 9, Chronicle was one of the few movies that could pull it off, except it was entirely found footage. My favorite scene was when [sp] the kid stole his stepfather's firefighting suit and geared up for a robbery, all of it set to Ziggy Stardust.[/sp] Also, did anyone else get an Akira vibe from the [sp]final fight[/sp]?

Submarine 8.5/10 Great independent film that is on Netflix.

Let The Right One In - 8/10. Symbolism and subtleties everywhere man.
