Fight Club - 10/10 Read the book and decided to give the movie a go and by Jove, I've lived to see the day I say I've enjoyed a movie much more than the book it's based on. The acting and plot improvements are superb, this is surely going to my top 5 list.
Watched The Woodsman, I feel like it was a tough role morally to fill, definitely an interesting experience.
Take Shelter - 9/10 cool
Fantastic. 10/10, although the ending was way too predictable and unreal.
In the Loop 9/10
10/10 Fargo in the desert (No Country For Old Men)
Kinsey The one Liam Neeson movie I've needed to see. Even though I haven't yet seen The Grey, this is the one that on the right off seemed intriguing. I didn't want to give it away by reading reviews and plots, but all I saw was that MR Neeson was playing a scientist specialising in sex. This movie is brilliant, and imo the most definitive character portrayal by the man and I don't care what you say about Schindler's List, this is largely about how the man creates this personality. And I have to say, it was absurd and hilarious on the get go, because Neeson is the kind of guy who takes things seriously to the next level of serious. Here we're talking about sexual intercourse. :v: It may shock Neeson fans to see this, but I think it's very much up there with his best. I'm finding it hard to get the words out, but I just don't believe such a man that is this movie existed. It's just too crazy. What I was intrigued about here, is the way it portrays how sex is perceived and treated in the 40s. A lot differently to nowadays, people were a lot more unknowing/uneducated and sensitive about it. It brings new light on that aspect that I've not seen before. In a way, Neeson's character kind of destroys himself in the process of his investigation, both mentally and sexually. And back then, these issues were seen to be a bit extreme for the public to know about. I also want to mention that this movie is very family oriented too, and it draws in relatable aspects of his relationship with his wife, kids and especially his father (which actually is one of the best moments of the movie).
The China Syndrome ~too much suspense for me~ but in all seriousness I'm struggling to breathe.

Alien Undead In hindsight, the title alone should have been a big flashing red warning light. Sci-fi, zombies in space (or weird alien zombies that looked like mud/spider people with that horrificly bad makeup), and what exactly does it do with a potentially cool concept? Three guesses. The acting was generally wooden, though admittedly better than I expected; the scares were cheap and there was an absolutely mindblowingly insipid 'twist' that quite literally had me in stitches. Since I doubt any of you will ever see this film (and trust me, you don't want to, not even for a joke) it involves taking the skeleton of the devil himself and transporting it to another bloody galaxy so they could do experiments on it; they know its the devil, the facility was - from what I could gleam out of the nonsense anyway - funded by the church, and they used it to take bits of Satan's bone structure and put it inside people to see what it does. I think the only redeeming quality of that awful film was that I found it genuinely amusing at how seriously it seemed to take itself. Also M16s and Colt 1911s with 'pew-pew' sound effects in an age where faster than light travel is possible... 2/10 would not watch again and a waste of £3.49
The guy has directed more shit movies then good movies. but damn are his good movies great.
The guy has directed more shit movies then good movies.
Wouldn't say that. He has a lot of overlooked movies from the 80s/90s imo. [editline]16th May 2012[/editline]
Dat vibration.
At least in Jurassic Park a T Rex breaks the tension. But here they do nothing to help you, even THE CREDITS don't help ease the tension. :(
dark shadows eh cant even be fucked to give this one a number just eh
dark shadows eh cant even be fucked to give this one a number just eh
I wonder why you would even go see it tbh.
coworker wanted to see it, had nothing else to do [editline]16th May 2012[/editline] to its credit it wasn't awful it just wasnt very good either
I was somewhat a fan of the original show dark shadows. [sp]I was wondering throughout the movie about a warewolf showing up like in the old show and just without warning, bam[/sp] They panned it as a comedy but it really wasn't.
Shame 7/10
Sling Blade was pretty good, didn't really care for Thornton until I watched it
Blade Runner (Final Cut, of course)- 9/10 What an amazing film! Great art design and symbolism. Loved Rutger Hauer as Batty. And way better than the original version.
The Warriors - 10/10 I've seen this movie more than any other and still love it when they fight the Baseball Furies in the park seriously that fight scene is good
The Avengers 10/10 Such a great story plot and seeing all the superhero's come together was awesome! I can't wait for The Avengers 2!
Apocalypto 7/10
The Dictator, like, 5/10 i guess its entertaining. but it just isn't very funny. some amusing bits here and there but generally just i dunno. it feels like it was rewritten to death. he's much funnier when spontaneous. but it's definitely not another borat. that said, it's better than bruno though.
did i rate drive? no i don't think i did. well i give it a 10/10 first of all. to sum it's like a david lynch movie without all the bullshit and mindfuck. very noir-y and has an incredibly beautiful yet dissonant soundtrack to boot. i can relate to the driver alot. i mean alot. in a way he's a hollywood version of me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth_%28novel%29 It's an arthouse Japanese crime thriller. Absolutely beautiful film. 10/10
So I watched Aliens again to hype me up for Prometheus. 8.5/10 I really loved it, it's a great action thriller that lives up to Alien. However the story did have some parts that threw me off, especially the air duct scene. No possible way Ripley could have a queen pulling her while winds with the force of category 5 hurricanes pulling her too. But other then that, I really enjoyed it. Great cast, great story, overall great movie.
The dictator - 6/10 I laughed at I'd say half of the scenes which were supposed to be funny. The dumb love plot kinda just put a big bummer on the film to which no one laughed when Anna faris was on screen. He plays his character so well though, and some scenes are just great like the helicopter ride (and the credit sequences were good but that says more about the actual film). It'sqlso quite short but I don't think it should've been any longer. I'd say this isn't a film to see at the cinema, just go ahead and rent it.
For people disappointed by The Dictator, watch Four Lions instead. Not the same kind of comedy, but a better film in every aspect.
dammit, all these reviews about The Dictator and I thought they were talking about:
