American history X
9/10
I cried at the end, amazing movie.
Thing is, the plot is apparently based on a novel written by Saddam Hussein.
Then apparently our ex illustrious leader is a terrible writer.

The world they made was boring and the whole movie was too obvious.
I don't like to rate movies, but maybe a 7/10 because the premise was cool.
I'd really like a TV show with the same premise as The Truman show
Red State - 8/10
The preacher is an absolutely terrifying figure, his dialog was incredibly creepy and all the close-ups of him were unnerving.
I was caught off guard by a few twists and turns in the plot. The characters were likable enough so that you cared about what happened to them.
John Goodman's performance was pretty decent, Stephen Root was good in his small role, Michael Parks was crazy scary in this.
All in all, it was a decent Kevin Smith film, despite it not being in his area of expertise.
It's only downfall was that it was a bit preachy in some parts, but that doesn't detract from the overall quality of the movie, just my score.

The gun fight really bothered me. I mean they were a bunch of of unarmored hicks standing infront of windows or on the roof with little to no cover, decimating trained officers. It was just so unbearably unbelievable.

It ruined the movie for me. It made no sense. Why were the untrained farmers or whatever better at shooting etc. than trained special forces?

To be fair, if you count, they only got 4 ATF agents, two by surprise.
I mean Waco wounded or killed 20 Federal agents.
I mean the odds WERE in the favour of the 5-pointers. They had superior firepower and were well covered. They didn't 'decimate' the ATF agents, they kept them pinned down until they got into the compound in which they did just kill the 5-pointers out front off in seconds.

They had higher ground, lots of guns and ammo and plenty of cover. Besides, it's a film, suspension of disbelief.
That ruined an incredible film for you? That's pretty bad
Can anyone recommend any films dealing with consciousness? I have to write a psychology paper on the subject.

In relation to things like the studies of Carl Jung, Frued, dreams, unconsciousness. I'm thinking Dark City.

wow 7 dumbs but no one explains why
Oh, no, you got me wrong. The movie is good overall, but I think they could have made something better with such a cool premise.
But as I said, I don't like rating movies because you just can't sum up everything in one number.

The Usual Suspects 9/10
Holy fuck, that movie was insane.
Babel
8/10

This is one of my personal favourites. First time I saw it, I realised it was the "my kind of movie" and due to so many stories going on and segueing in and out of one another just made it all the more intense. Cultures and personalities all pretty much what I can connect with, they all feel real.
Some say it's a bit artsy, but it's just one of those movies where you feel what they do.
Raging Bull
8/10
I think no matter how many times I watch Joe Pesci flip out disproportionately it will always be great
The movie definitely weakens near the end but still remains a fairly solid film
Red Cliff 9/10
Awesome battle scenes.
If we're definitely doing t.v shows.
Cowboy Bebop Session 11 - Toys in the Attic 9/10
It was a homage to Alien and other sci-fi movies and though it didn't really make much sense it was still extremely fun.
Conversely,
Arrested Development episodes 1,2,3 & 4.
4/10
Not feeling it so far, will stick with it up to episode 10.

Oh it gets better, trust me.
Lost in Translation - 8/10.
It's rare to see a film deal with both comedy and drama in such a fantastic way. Also, Bill Murray.

I hope so, it feels bad not liking it after it's been hyped up so much (perhaps part of the problem). I haven't even laughed out loud yet.
Episode 5 "Charity Drive" 4.5/10
I feel like a lot of the jokes are missing the mark for example at the end of the episode Gob gets pushed against the window of the trailer his mum and dad are having sex in, which is pretty funny, but Ron Howard's narration unnecessarily explaining what's happening ruins it for me.
Arrested Development is pretty overrated.

You're overrated.
21 jump street 9.5/10
21 Jump Street 7.5/10
Didn't like it as much as other people but it was entertaining.
Ip man 2 - 9.5/10
[sp]I was cheering when he beat up the Twister[/sp]
The Avengers - 10/10
I thought it would have no depth, but it had a balance of action and story so it was great.

100% agree it was a jackpot.
