Just about to watch 'A Separation', really looking forward to that.
seriously good movie, I've only seen 2 Iranian movies, but that one goes with some of the best foreign movies I've seen.
What was the other one?
Children of Heaven. Came on TV in the early hours of the morning, pretty good.
Husk - 7/10 Pretty solid start; some rather creepy moments in the cornfield but there was something about the way the characters reacted to some situations that kept me from fully investing in the film as a whole. Otherwise it was a perfectly enjoyable film.
What about "Persepolis"?
that's a French movie, and not seen it yet.
When a Stranger Calls. The 1 page story was much better than the 2 hour movie. 3/10
seriously good movie, I've only seen 2 Iranian movies, but that one goes with some of the best foreign movies I've seen.
Stoning of Soraya M was another pretty hard hitting film about Iran rather than an Iranian made film. Its about the stoning of a totally innocent woman and the lack of respect for women there after the clerics took over the country. The film is quite brutal towards the end. Still yet to watch the Separation, will rate tomorrow. Its good to be back on these boards.
Perfect Blue - 8/10 Can't even remember the last time I enjoyed a psychological thriller this much. The Japanese pop idol imagery contrasts pretty well with the dark plot. It takes the movie a while to get going, but once it does, it doesn't mind fucking with you. [sp]Really, my only complaint with this movie is that it ties everything up in a nice little bow. I would have liked a more ambiguous ending.[/sp] Animation also looks pretty good.
i dunno iirc it was ambiguous on a few levels at least
The Muppets (2011) 9/10 I've watched it like 5 or 6 times since it came out on blu-ray, and I still love it. Reminds me of my childhood.
Let Me In (2010), American remake of Let The Right One In. I only saw the first 15 minutes because it's late, but holy shit I like it infinitely more than the original so far.
Drive 8.5/10 Was a fantastic movie overall. The beginning driving scene and the soundtrack made this movie for me, but I was put off slightly by the gory violence that came out of nowhere. Also, the movie is currently on Netflix instant watch if anyone wants to check it out.
yeah for like 5 seconds... they took off samurai champloo when i only had like 4 episodes left. they took away the departed, blue velvet... list goes on and on. it's bullshit.

I honestly avoided it for so long because it looked SO MUCH like a Transporter clone and that is the last thing I wanted. When I seen that Netflix suggest it at 4.7/5 based on my review scores I had to watch it just to see if Netflix was way off base. It clearly was not.

who thinks the american version of let the right one in is better than the original?
Schindlers List 9.5/10. Got me to cry when all of Schindlers Jews placed stones on his grave in Jerusalem.
cry when you realize he was a nazi prick and had no interest in saving those poor souls at all, irl. [editline]22nd May 2012[/editline] still a flawless movie and the ending of the movie (not the bullshit part with the grave, i mean the jewgold ring) always makes me shed at least a man tear.
Yeah what always bugged me was that Schindler wasn't as real as people imagined. If he really was ridiculously kind to Jews and that his character was so memorable, how come he wasn't known before the movie? That being said, I don't much care, still good movie.
The Lazarus Project 7/10 It is not a bad movie by any means. It's just a little slow and some of the plot wwas kind of cliche.
Kill list - 9/10 Jesus Christ how horrifying. I don't think any other movie has inspired a sense of dread like that in me ever before. If you want the best experience from this film, don't read up about it at all, just go watch it. Preferably with a good sound system.
Hercules - 9/10 God this film is underrated. Didn't do too well at the box office if I remember rightly. James Woods and Danny DeVito are hilarious, the music is some of the best in any disney film, the story isn't boy and girl fall in love and live happily ever after.
God Bless America - 8/10 I loved the way it was filmed, and it was kind of a ballsy movie to call out all the flaws of American society these days. I liked the characters, and the acting was pretty good actually. I thought it was just going to be a lot of violence, but it was a good balance between action and dialogue.
Battle Royale - 2/5 The concept was ok, but I did not like the acting nor the characters. It felt like it was just a lot of drama being forced on you time after time, but none of it really got into me.
Cabin in the Woods: 9/10. Jesus christ I love that movie.
Could you help me out with the name of a movie? It's set in the Vietnam war, and follows a group of soldiers, with most of the focus on some sergeant of the master sergeants to the max. At one point a mortar overheats and he takes a piss on it to cool it down. An American fighter jet receives the wrong coordinates and fries a bunch of G.Is with napalm. Aaand there's a Huey pilot called Snakeshit or something like that.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man - 6/10 Bizarre Japanese body horror about a bloke who's transformed into a metal abomination by a metal fetishist he ran down with his car. Yup. The effects are generally good and there's some really nice, stark imagery to build atmosphere; the first three quarters or so of its 67 minute length is pretty good. Then the metal fetishist reappears as the villain and the film really loses the plot; the rest of the film is mostly a strange stop motion chase sequence with some of the most offputting camerawork I've ever seen, and at this point the horror movie atmosphere alomost entirely disappears. By the end I'd totally lost interest. The industrial soundtrack is great though, definitely the highlight of this film for me.
Re-Watched Ghostbusters: 9/10
Who reviews a film after watching the first 15 minutes?
Did you not notice the "so far" part at the end. Looking for the stores that sell it so I can get a hold of it.
Donnie Darko 9/10 That movie is simply mindblowing, I always wanted to see it but never got the chance. But holy crap the story is so fascinating and it all makes sense, it also leaves a lot of space for personal interpretation. Edit: I watched some reviews on amazon about this movie and seriously some people are so fucking dumb, honestly what the fuck? Calling the movie boring and bash it to hell. I do not get it. The movie is brilliant, some said that expendables was more fun than DD. People need to grow up.
