[QUOTE=Swebonny;35279056]I'm now working on a power distribution system. It sounds cool but it's basically soldering a bunch of wires together so that all 4 motors can get some electricity.[/QUOTE]
Thourght it was time to revive this thread, how is your project going Swebonny? Would love to see an update.
I just uploaded my new video aswell! Two Tri-copters in the air at the same time.

I don't know how the hell you keep it that stable, my tri's been built for a while but I can't keep it from drifting and I'm even using an OP CC.
[editline]9th April 2012[/editline]
Actually, I'm using the Delrin kit too, different motors though. Can you post your OP CC UAV file?
I was just going to revive this thread today as well, my turnigy showed up today. The thing looks so complicated, I feel like I'm in over my head. I just need the speed controllers, battery, and a couple of other parts, and I hope I can be up in the air by june.

I've been quite busy with school, and my soldering iron broke so I had to order a new one. It's coming tomorrow or on Wednesday so I will continue then. I'm quite hyped because I can set the temperature and everything, it looks nice.
I have nothing interesting to show so have a picture of me testing the battery and programming card:

Finished my power spider :D
[editline]14th April 2012[/editline]
I'm a bit confused about how the receiver and the databoard is going to get power, but I assume trough BEC. Going to read a bit before speculating to smuch.
Edit:
Hooked up a motor with the esc and battery and binded it to my controller. It works as intended!

So, I have a few questions about Multicopters:
Where should I start?
Are there any decent guides to follow?
Which receiver & transmitter/remote do you guys recommend?
I think I'm going to go with the Arducopter board.
Haven't been working so much on the quadcopter. But here's a short video of what's been done:

I'm quite lazy. I work on it for like 5 minutes a day. Currently waiting for some screws.
Damn, I need to stop letting this thread get buried.
Swe, that looks great. I can't wait for you to post your first flight video, any updates on it after a week?
I made a new video aswell with a new quad copter frame.

I'm going to get the screws later today, so I'll hopefully be flying in 24 hours .
[editline]14th May 2012[/editline]
And that video looks great. I'll try to attach some kind of camera on my copter too, once it gets in the air.
Really? :O
That's great news, PLEASE film it for us. Wanna' see how you do :)

is that rachel at the end
Oh, cool, a thread for multicopters. My dad and my uncle are total geeks for these things.
Getting the screws in about 4 hours. After that I will have to check on the propellers and adjust my radio controller. I've heard a lot about balancing props, but I'm not sure how that works.
[QUOTE=thrawn2787;35961245]is that rachel at the end[/QUOTE]
Yeah it's abit of a inside joke, the picture at the end was just a random one off Google with abit of photoshop work.
Swebonny can't wait to hear/see how your flight goes, we have been following you for so long in the creation of your copter. This is one small step for man.
Kind of old but here is the first plane i built with 1 dollar foam, based on a F-22 frame, nearly 1 meter long.

Hehe, alrigth so I took it out for testing just 10 minutes ago. Mount the props really quickly on the quadcopter and got out. It's 11 PM so it's quite dark, but enough to see the copter.
1 st attempt: I raise the throttle a little bit. Bzzz. No lift. Raise to 50 %, no lift. Raise a bit more and one of the motors starts to eat the grass on my lawn. Some grass get stuck in the motor... I head back inside the house.
2nd attempt: I cleaned the grass and noticed that I never let the left and right motor rotate in the correct direction. I switch the negative with the positive pole so that it will turn the other way.
At 50% I think I see some kind of lift. 60%, definitely something. 70 %, 5 cm lift and tilting straight towards the right, crashing (softly) into the grass.
I decide that's enough and head home for further Googling
This has been awesome. And it's all thanks to you Dokaman!

Heh it took quite a while, but during this time I believe I've learned quite a lot. I had basically no experience with RC stuff at all before starting on this project.
Still not finished though. Gotta get this thing off the ground properly.
I'm disappointed that none of you guys made a video with the top-gun theme on the background.

So glad you were inspired by my thread and even more glad you actually got to fly your baby (be it a small flight). You will be a pro in no time.

I'll keep it in mind for future videos, keep a look out ;)

Will do. Also Electric Eye from Judas Priest is an excelent music for your next flight!

I actually have a subject in my course in witch we program an RC Helicopter's control pannel. Too bad I'm not having that subject yet. But I think I'll be making my own tri-copter in June if I can finnish all my finnals.
Wow, I just found out that if you want to take aerial photos and upload it to the internet in Sweden you need to request permission from the Army.
Also, I've decided that I will make a plane instead of a multicopter as I like the more speed a plane gives and higher altitude.
I should work on my copter, but I'm just too lazy...

Only if you take photos of military buildings, power plants and similar buildings.

In the UK and US you can take pictures all you want but the moment you start taking pictures for commercial use (to make money) it's not allowed.
I managed to break a propeller, but I had one backup. I calibrated the ESC's, the TX and all and it's still meh. I've managed to get it jumping to perhaps 20 cm.
The problem is that it's really unbalanced. It tilts backwards all the time.

stock up on propellers
you *will* break more
Yeah definitely. I think I just found out why it keeps tilting. It's because I didn't calibrate the control board. So I had to do that, now the motors starts at the same time, but the battery ran out...
I feel like Garrus.
[editline]21st May 2012[/editline]
I thought it would work to calibrate the speed controllers separately, but they had to be connected via the control board. So now they all have the same throttle range.

That plane is fucking huge by the way, wingspan is 5.5'.
I wish I could at least finish my project. I still need to order half my parts.
