I've very tempted to start on my own multi copter project, any chance of a list of all the parts you've used so far, Swebonny? Imagine building a huge one, with a seat underneath :O
If you look trough my posts in this thread you should get an idea of what I've used. I'm not finished yet, but I'll definitely post a list with all the parts once I'm finished. I just realized that perhaps not everyone have a soldering iron, so I suggest anyone that wants to build a multicopter to get one. It's quite useful for other things too. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline]
Here's an excellent build guide for a Tricopter with links to all the parts. http://rcexplorer.se/projects/tricopterv25/tricopterv25.html
The way they're wiring the ESCs to the battery is awesome. That's definitely how I will do it now.
Sorry I didn't send you that before Swe! Forgot about it to be honest then stumbled upon it today. Also there's a competition on, design RCExplorer a logo and win a complete Quad or Tricopter! http://rcexplorer.se/Competition/Competition.php
How long can you fly around using one of those batteries posted above?
How long can you fly around using one of those batteries posted above?
With a Tri-copter you can get a half hour flight in if you don't just full power all the time. That's with a full HD Hero camera on.

welp dunno how to solder or anyone that does. guess im done.
welp dunno how to solder or anyone that does. guess im done.
Youtube it. It's really not hard at all.
welp dunno how to solder or anyone that does. guess im done.
You can also buy them, complete. Although they are hugely expensive, overpriced etc. http://www.kkmulticopter.kr/index.html?modea=vieweng&mc_selected=MultiCopter&sc_selected=Set&sn=set_x6_10&id_no=129
Is that a completely built one or just a kit with all the pieces, because if that's a completely built one then that's not a very bad price.
I think it may be unassembled seeing as they are listing all the parts. That price is quite scary. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline]
welp dunno how to solder or anyone that does. guess im done.
The soldering I did was just to connect the connectors to the wire. Basically, put connector into holder. Melt the tin into the tiny cup and jam the wire into it. Nothing hard really. And later you may have to solder some cables wire so that the battery is shared to all the ESCs, but how hard you want to make it is up do yourself.
It's easier if you bundle them together and wrap a tiny wire around the bundle then solder
I think it may be unassembled seeing as they are listing all the parts. That price is quite scary.
yeah if it's unassembled that's a shit price. I entered that rcexplorer.se contest. Here're my entries.
Is that a completely built one or just a kit with all the pieces, because if that's a completely built one then that's not a very bad price.
It won't be built up as it would cost loads more to ship due to it's size. Also you could build that same set up yourself much cheaper. It would also be better them that one if done properly. I like it Supacasey! Good luck!
I am sorry, I am pretty tired, partially just from finishing this, so I will just dump this here without any real commentary. Looking ready to fly now! Let us know how it flies when you maiden it.
Hah, if only. Out of the actually vital stuff, it lacks battery connection. You can actually see the future battery holding plate on the first picture, next to the screwdriver on right. We also don't have the radio sorted out yet. Other than that, stuff is screwed only loosely.
You can pick up a cheap remote controll from eBay, even ones that have memory and are able to store configs for 10 different planes.
I am sorry, I am pretty tired, partially just from finishing this, so I will just dump this here without any real commentary.
What advantages does using a power distribution board have?
What advantages does using a power distribution board have?
I imagine it's healthier for the regulators, it's more efficient, looks better, and in the end is less dicking around for you.
From the research I've been doing it seems the Futaba 9c is the best bang for the buck radio to have at about $170, but it's been discontinued for a while so you'd have to get one from ebay, a forum, etc.

It's rarely in stock though.
Does it have a trainer port?

I currently use these three, the Spektrum for short range flyers (about eight of them) and the other two for long range flights.
Someone was selling a 9c with a preconfigured dragonlink UHF system and a few IBCrazy antennas on RCG for $450. I only found out about it yesterday and it had already sold, I would've grabbed it in an instant.
Does it have a trainer port?
I have no idea actually. Here it is: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8992
I have no idea actually. Here it is: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8992
Looks like it does but it needs some hardmodding to get it working correctly and some more modding to get it to work with a head tracker.
Looks like it does but it needs some hardmodding to get it working correctly and some more modding to get it to work with a head tracker.
For forty freaking dollars it gets the job done. I think Swebonny and most other first timers are looking to get it done cheap the first time.
I agree, if I'm going to attempt a build on one of these i don't need to be forking out $500 just for the fucking CONTROLLER ALONE, without even knowing what I'm doing is correct...
I agree, if I'm going to attempt a build on one of these i don't need to be forking out $500 just for the fucking CONTROLLER ALONE, without even knowing what I'm doing is correct...
$170 != $500 but I get your point. Technically I'm a first timer too, I only have an RTF Easy Star right now, but I have the extra cash to get some equipment that's a little more future proof. Just bought a Futaba 9CHP with a reciever and upgraded battery for $190.

[editline]10th January 2012[/editline] Then again i know jack shit about this stuff yet and don't know anything about most of what you listed so...
