IMO this could make a perfect swede anthem:
Does anyone have any real advice for going to Sweden. Like how it will be; finding a job etc. Living too.
Since I'm danish I can't claim to be an expert on these things, but:
Living: Depending on where you live now in Canada, it's going to be cold or just the same if you live up north in Canada. The summer will be mild and filled with hot swedish babes.
Language: Swedish isen't as hard as danish, so you will have an easier time, though you will find typing and speaking swedish to be very different indeed.
Costs: Things cost a LOT more in Scandinavia than compared to the US or Canada, so be sure of a change of thought about prices.
Watch out for Polar bears in the streets. i heard they can be really mean..

Yeah, I had to put one down just last week. The fucker wouldn't leave my mailbox alone.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass, happens too often.
Yeah, it's a pain in the ass, happens too often.
Don't complain, the grizzly bears in the danish streets are far worse than those polar bears.
Watch out for raging vikings.
Sweden is a boring country but still alright. Just don't become a fjortis, what is it you may ask? Well you will find out eventually.
[editline]09:35PM[/editline]
Also how ironic. I really want to leave Sweden and live in Canada whilst you are coming from there and wanting to stay here. People will never be pleased. :v: (Don't get me wrong, not saying that you are ungrateful or anything. Just people in general, like myself.)

Believe it or not, never heard of them, but thank you for showing me. They rule! Into my spotify list you go!
If you're planning to study at a Swedish university then forget about it. New rules have been taken forth where people outside of EU will have to start paying for their education and stop getting it for free, thankfully.

Really? Never heard of 'em before? o.0
If you like that band, then make sure you check out The Haunted as well ;)

Ok back on topic... why do you think Sweden is boring? Define "boring" to us :P
I don't find living in Sweden as boring. I'll probably stay here all my life, mostly because of that "secure" feeling.
I would like to go to U.S as an exchange student for a while.
That's only what the narrowminded dipshit racists wants you to think, just because we accept people in the moment they need refuge the most doesn't mean we're being swarmed with "arabs". Although we accept an unproportional amount of immigrants it's not like there isn't plenty of space to go around.
1. Finnish people are alcoholics, the cause of death which manages to eclipse all the others is the one of finnish males between the ages 18 and 65. Hint: It's vodka.
2. You spank eachother with twigs in said sauna.
3. No, they're not. Most of the time they look like something you'd find in a forest.
4. Apparently.
5. Indeed you did, on the nazi side.
1. Swedish people can barely even drink
2. Spanking is not the correct word, beating because we're men
3. Still better than Swedish chicks
4. Truly
5. The Winter War we fought for our independence, and the Continuation war was merely for revenge. The Swedish stayed neutral yet helped the Nazis, ergo your statement is hypocritical

Ah Swedish, the only serious choice around that part of the world.
Yeah, I wonder where that mentality comes from.
I'm kind off a fan of Finland, I think it's very cool. At the WW2 point, Sweden actually helped Finland alot, for example we had expeditionary forces fighting for you, and we took in fleeing people.
you gave us volunteers
the majority of your country was ashamed of the government for doing nothing more than that. Hitler would have been happy to allow the Swedes to fight the Russians. Instead you sat back and did nothing. That is why Sweden deserves barely any respect from WW2.

at least get your facts right before writing.
Yeah, Sweden's a pretty safe place to live in.

This is true, but Sweden and Russia fought over Finland many years ago, untill Finland became independent. Also I don't know if you're saying we didn't send expiditionary forces to you, and Finland got to 'borrow' our interceptors we had back then.
You do know that sweden sent information to both germany and the allies? Kinda like a double agent with his own agenda, playing by his own rules
Why are we discussing something that happened 70 years ago?
Yeah, let's drop it, it's going off-topic.

We sent them 1/5 of our fighter planes, 40 000 rifles and 42 000 000 cartridges + 8000 men as volunteers. 40 of them died.
We also accepted ~50 000 immigrants from Finland.
And /sign, let's stop OT.

At least we made awesome flak cannons for the Allies.
No college fees, the state PAYS you each month to study, Internet suffices for a lot of course literature, lots of Swedish girls, EVERYONE knows English, most things are cheap.
Karlstad (mid-Sweden) even guarantees apartments for all students moving into the city. What are you waiting for? :)

Wanna talk history? Which country owned the other for more than 500 years?
Yeah, that's right.
why Sweden?!?!?
Go to Finland:
1. Finnish people know how to drink (Yes, too much though)
2. We don't take pussy saunas, we take real 90 degree celsius saunas (agreed)
3. Finnish chicks are like twice as hot as Swedish ones (No, no, no, no, no this part is wrong i haven't seen a single even mildly hot finnish girl during my entire lifetime)
4. Our education is better (true)
5. We actually fought in WW2 (yes on the nazi side, but hey we kinda betrayed them)
My corrections are now done, also finland is safe place compared to pretty much every country (especially Estonia, don't go there for the sake of your money).

Well, I might contact the Swedish embassy to double-check that and get more info on how to study up there, it sounds _Very_ tempting! :D
