Sooo nice! I get inspired after browsing Frazetta too, only to be shot back down when i produce utter shit.
Thanks again guys! :D
Two questions: 1. Is your avatar Malificent? 2. Did you create your avatar?
1. Yes. 2. No I didn't. The artist can be found somewhere on CGHub. Can I ask how long you've been seriously drawing? Do you go to or have you attended art school?
Can I ask how long you've been seriously drawing? Do you go to or have you attended art school?
Sure! I am currently graduating from my university after 6 years of evolutionary biology studies, so no I haven't gone to any form of art-school even though I kind of plan to in the future, so that means I am self-thought even though I have had artist friends around me who have greatly influenced you. I believe that surrounding yourself with people who are serious at art and who are better then you at art will make you grow and keep on growing. I have been seriously studying the last 2,5 years, before that I was never really studying anatomy or any of the basics but just drew. It was first when I started studying for serious that I went forward in art. If you're interested in my progress, here's something I made 4 years ago, can barely stand looking at it myself haha. i remember all those thing and i remember not liking that style
i love that little soul-collector thing

Those fish-people in the back are cool, this piece all together is amazing.
You've become so infinitely better. If I had to choose any artist I know to inspire me to draw it would be you.

Awesome! Also I think I remember that piece haha, or something similar. [editline]3rd July 2012[/editline] Can you recommend any starting points towards learning anatomy and what not?
Wow, that's amazing.
Lord M you sir are still an inspiration.
Hey Lord M.
you've finally gotten rid of your extremely muddy rendering, lovely.

[editline]3rd July 2012[/editline] Can you recommend any starting points towards learning anatomy and what not?
Awesome that I can inspire someone! It truly is! For learning anatomy for beginners I think you should check out Andrew Loomis books, I always recommend those. Nowadays you can buy them too but they are free to download from the net here: http://alexhays.com/loomis/ Go for them in the order they were printed: Fun with a Pencil (1939) Start with this one Figure Drawing for All It's Worth (1943) One of the best books on learning anatomy, study till your hands bleed Creative Illustration (1947) Successful Drawing (1951) The Eye of the Painter (1961) (Loomis presents the problems of anatomy, movement, balance, expression, technique and he significantly emphasizes the importance of creativity and idealism in every artist's work.) Also remember to not be put down, everyone was crappy in the beginning. I takes years to get really good, depending on how much work and effort you put down. That's why Michelangelo burned his first drawings so no one could tell.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
