And she's our family's dog, and one of us (not me) forgot to let her in. so the owner and "the guy who didn't let her in" are the same person.

I'm really sorry for you clockroach. I guess it just got too bad too fast... Don't really know what else to say. I mean, you never really get over losing your pet (especially if it's one you've had for a really long time - your absolute best friend, you know), but like anyone's passing, it gets easier with time. We bury our animals along an embankment behind our house, overlooking the forest behind. Each one we bury gets a unique and 'special' plant on top - my dog got a rose, our oldest cat got a natural tombstone with various precious rocks adorning the top of her grave, and my cat got a memorial plate with a pretty spectacular pumpkin plant growing across the top. What I'm saying is - give her the best burial you can, it really makes you feel better and if it's somewhere where you can see it, it can really make you feel happy whenever you look out over them :)
