Cool photos but I don't see the point of the "hippies" commentary, everyone is free to have an opinion and I don't think it's unreasonable to value money put towards education and healthcare rather than your "really cool toys"
Is there something like this in the US? I would love to see it, also reminded me of that one Chuck episode.
You're a lucky man to see all this.
The company that makes thoes armored cars which are called a "Plasan Sand Cat". The company HQ known as Oshkosh Corporation is based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (which is close by to where i live). They build specialty vehicles, and design and make vehicles for the armed forces.
Lucky, I wish I could've gone.
IS this near the Landsdowne park? I wish I could've gone, sweet pics btw. How long is it on for?
Damn, Canada's military is pretty badass. And they made the LAV-25! [editline]06:02AM[/editline] I hate it when people think canada doesn't have an army.
Ottawa bros represent! I wish I could have gone. :C
How did you get invited?
I went to an explosive ordnance ordnance training school a few weeks ago and got to try on a bomb suit just like this one: [img_thumb]http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/302/1000890b.jpg[/img_thumb] It weighed a bit above 40kg. and we got to control the TALON robot [img_thumb]http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6803/1000889v.jpg[/img_thumb] the thing is seriously hard to control
] A very large armoured truck -
That truck is a Bushmaster, it's Australian. What company did you get that blue lanyard from? I thought it was Mikoyan at first but it's not. (I seriously Mikoyan would show up at a Western arms fair anyway)
:canada: I'm proud.
Wow, the latest in moose hunting technology.
[img_thumb]http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/2599/1000867o.jpg[/img_thumb] For your information that's an Australian Busmaster IMV
Thank you for doing this thread, it's informative and full of awesome pictures. You are awesome.
Great, now all the Russians are downloading this pictures and know what our secret shit is Were all Doomed
The US military has a shitload of its field manuals and study papers on their websites all for the public to download America is doomed
It'd have helped if you booked up on some of the stuff before you made the thread. That sounds overly-critical but I recognise a fair lot of the vehicles here and can name most of the ones I do. So from top to bottom, here's what I know: Oshkosh M-ATV Developed from the USMC's MTVR (Which is coincidentally also developed by Oshkosh). New IMV Oshkosh SandCat Looks like a fucking beast. IMV used/planned for use by the Israeli Defence Force I'm lost on the truck. Then lots of drone pictures ATF Dingo II, the Bundeswehr's analogy to the Humvee, just done a lot better. Has better capacity, top gunner protection (seeing as the turret is remote controlled rather than manually operated), better ballistic protection and better mine protection. Not sure about performance details but it's a meaty fucker. The next image is a showcase of some kind of armour on an M113 it looks like. The one after that is a Russian GAZ, their analogy to the Dingo I'd guess. I could be horribly mistaken though. (I was mistaken, was thinking of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAZ-2975) LAV-25, pretty much the USMC's main APC/AFV. I'm unsure as to what the three vehicles up to the quadrotor are. And that's what that little drone is. This video is pretty interesting: http://www.wimp.com/aggressivemaneuvers/ More info on them can be found on Wikipedia The rest of the equipment I don't know too much about. The other APC looks very familiar. The IMV you're sat in is the ATF Dingo once again.
LAV-25? There's no LAV-25 in those pictures. It wouldn't make sense seeing them in this show since the Canadian Forces already uses the Stryker's daddy the LAV III. That 8x8 APC/IFV is the French VBCI. Currently, the Canadian Forces is looking to procure vehicles for their Close Combat Vehicle project with the VBCI and the Swedish CV90 IFV as candidates. I hope they'll replace all of their LAV IIIs with the CCV. [img_thumb]http://www.haaland.info/norway/storm/cv90_fart.jpg[/img_thumb]
These things look like something from a sci-fi movie set in the near future.
Thanks for all the comments and info, I will be adding info to the OP as I see it.
How did you get invited?
I am a government employee.
What company did you get that blue lanyard from? I thought it was Mikoyan at first but it's not. (I seriously Mikoyan would show up at a Western arms fair anyway)
A company called IMP Group - http://www.impgroup.com/en/home/default.aspx
I stand corrected. The LAV-25 and LAV III look very similar though. That said, the 25 is outdated as it is so it'd make sense at an arms convention to have the latest. [editline]11:20AM[/editline]
Thanks for all the comments and info, I will be adding info to the OP as I see it.
You need to change the info about the LAV III - It's not in use by the USMC, they use the LAV-25. LAV III is in use by Canada.
