Radio Controlled Recon Drone?
Well, shit. I wondered when those university projects would be picked up by the military. That was a uni project I remember watching about on youtube, earlier this year.
[QUOTE=Tac Error;22340140]The US military has a shitload of its field manuals and study papers on their websites all for the public to download

Those posters are awesome.
I usually think that our Military is old and outdated, and then I see this and it makes me :canada:

It was similar but only in design. The one being shown seemed a lot more basic than that one shown in the video. I asked about the drones maneuvering capabilities and it can do things like move around while focusing the camera on a target and automatically returning home if there is some kind of system failure. But it couldn't do things like collision avoidance or fancy aerial tricks. It seemed limited by the control system, it was very basic; like it was designed to just simply be picked up and used by the average soldier without any special training. For example you just set the altitude then touch a point in the on screen map and it would go there. It does look like something with a lot of potential though.

Actually most of the stuff you see are not actually in service with the Canadian Forces. In fact the politicians who manage the military procurement stuff have been pretty retarded ever since the late 1960s-early 1970s.
Remember the AVGP? Some asshole lobbyists managed to convince the government at the time that 6x6 wheeled vehicles were the answer when they cheapened out on modernizing our armoured regiments. The Trudeau government only bought enough Leopard 1 tanks to equip the sole armour regiment in West Germany plus a small training unit. Because of this all the other armoured regiments were left using this abomination called the Cougar - a vehicle designed for internal security rather than to be used on the battlefield. They were marketed as "tank trainers" and their performance was abysmal.
Move on to the 1990s and the Chrétien government cancels an entire family of next generation tracked vehicles and opt instead to purchase the terrible LAV III. It's only now that they've realized their mistakes by buying Leopard 2 tanks and a new "Close Combat Vehicle".
Yes, our government shits repeatedly on our armed forces, but we make do the best we can.
