Metal fans like Racid give all metal fans a bad name. I'd explain, but he'd just thread shit more. The bands you named are good bands, that doesn't change the fact the other bands are good bands too.
ITT: People who can't handle real progressive death metal so they stick to BTBAM, Opeth, and other shitty bands.
BTBAM sure, but how dare you call Opeth shitty
So Death created Death Metal, then went on to be Progressive Death Metal too?
Umm actually that's pretty much exactly what happened.

Because in my opinion, the bands Racid named are pretty damned good, and if I had thought of them at the time of making this thread, would almost definitely be included in the OP. :v:
not really they even said so in interview lol
Ehh? Then they're in denial. That stuff has *core written all over it.
not really they even said so in interview lol [editline]11:17PM[/editline] their a mix dude. i like how everyone considers them deathcore when they really arent.
Everyone considers them deathcore because a significant part of their sound is so deathcore that it hurts. They are a mixture between deathcore and technical death metal. But I wouldn't say they deserve to be in the progressive death metal thread because so little of their music is anywhere near progressive.
BTBAM sure, but how dare you call Opeth shitty
How dare you call BTBAM a bad band.
How dare you call BTBAM a bad band.
I dislike metalcore.
*image*
seriously dude seriously...
Just got back from the concert and it was AMAZING. The bands that were there were Scale the Summit, Dave Townsend Project, Cynic, and BTBAM. Scale the Summit was really good and I enjoyed them. Dave was pretty good his music reminds me of the Smashing Pumpikins. But he was really funny, Quote "I just took a dump backstage and it was 4 miles long and as smooth as glass. Cynic, they were REALLY good, I liked there music and I am going to buy some songs. Quote "Yeah were trippen on acid sooo uhhhhh yea, "what are we playing agian. I swear the singer never opend his eyes. BTBAM THEY WERE GOD. The first note they hit everyone fliped the fuck out. A huge mosh pit got started and I swear it was like running a fucking marathon. I really like this band and it was really good.
seriously dude seriously...
Did you honestly not expect these reactions when you considered posting Born of Osiris in here?
crytopsy & decapitated how about them
crytopsy & decapitated how about them
Both of them are technical death, and not to be a total genre asshole, but for the purposes of this thread, technical death metal does not really belong.
So Death created Death Metal, then went on to be Progressive Death Metal too?
You got it wrong buddy, Death didn't create Death Metal, but they were more progressive on their later albums. [editline]01:18PM[/editline]
Cause you need classifications and classifications? It's too much of a reach between Meshuggah and Metallica to have them in the exact same genre and not diversified genres. Although it does take the piss when you look at core genres, like pitchforkcore.
Of course, I said extreme metal. That's what separates Meshuggah between Metallica.
Of course, I said extreme metal. That's what separates Meshuggah between Metallica.
I agree with you there. Personally, as far as genres go, I don't think it'd be a bad idea if, for simply the intents and purposes of seperating bands (IE, describing Meshuggah as opposed to Metallica), an extremely umbrella term such as "extreme metal" more than suffices. The average person knows that, whatever they may consider Metallica's music, few would consider it "extreme metal", and, to be frank, once you tell a person that a band is extreme metal, chances are, they'll just tune out anything you say after that. You don't need to go, "<band name here> are about as far as you can go from Metallica; they're empowered blackened neoclassical progressive technical symphonic death metal, whereas Metallica are thrash/hard rock." You can simply say, "<band name here> are about as far as you can go from Metallica; they're extreme metal, whereas Metallica are thrash/hard rock." Then, if the person just happens to still be interested and would like to know a bit more about the band in question, you can go into genre specifics. Otherwise, genre specifics would probably be better to be kept within the metal rings, and used fittingly with the amount of elitism/entirety/devotion to the music. Meaning that, to someone new to the extreme metal circles, you don't need to go around suggesting that empowered blackened neoclassical progressive technical symphonic death metal band, with said genres attached; simply say that they're death metal. Possibly throw in that they have a lot of other metal influences, too (and say it like that; don't list the genres out :v:). The more devoted/experienced a person is within the circle, the more technical and precise he can use genres as an identifier. That's just my own opinion on the matter, though. :v:
YOU FUCKING SPELT IT WRONG And please, did they play The Greys, or Ziltoid attax! ?
Sorry, I didn't get back home until 1 and there were alot of second hand highs. Its also hard to concetrate when you hit your head about 5 times and got slung around and punched in the face. Yes they did play both of them.
fuuuucckkk so goin to bloodstock now
I've never even heard of Rage Apart from that, not bad

At least that's what I have done for the past several years.
Opeth, Gojira and Death \m/
