Drugs Discussion Questions Thread V "how many weed needles is too many?"

I got stupid the first time I smoked
yeah I'm almost certain that's a myth, our body produces its own cannabinoids (e.g. anandamide) because they serve to regulate stuff like mood and appetite.
Hate to be that guy but if I had to guess I'd say not getting high is either from not inhaling right or from edibles that weren't made properly (I've totally botched them before and barely felt a thing)
[editline]20th May 2014[/editline]
And I know this is just anecdotal evidence but I have never met any first timer who hasn't gotten high after they were shown how to inhale properly
Is 7 beers and 150mg DPH gonna be dangerous?
Is 7 beers and 150mg DPH gonna be dangerous?
nah
Don't make a habit of it though.

Is it gonna be worth it? And I won't.

And I'm almost certain it isn't. You can't disprove it just by referencing the fact that our body produces endocannabinoids, especially considering that neural activity triggered by endocannabinoids can probably not be compared to exocannabinoids (else we would be getting stoned on a regular basis).
The brain is far too complex to be generalized like that, and besides, usually our endochemical balance (including endogenous cannabinoid levels) differ heavily for individuals (due to both environmental as well as genetic factors), which may just as likely account for the varying reports of susceptibility to weed for first-time users.
And I know this is just anecdotal evidence but I have never met any first timer who hasn't gotten high after they were shown how to inhale properly
This is also anecdotal, but I have. Myself and friends I've introduced.
As for me, a gravity bong makes sure you inhale properly, whether you know how to or not. Even so, it took a couple of times, using the exact same technique and amount of weed, before I got smarked.
Hate to be that guy, but if anything, dismissing it all as "didn't know how to inhale" is far more anectodal and myth-like than attributing it to the possibility of some users requiring a build-up of receptors before they can get high.

For some interesting insight on the complexity of cannabinoid tolerance development, this article http://www.marijuanalibrary.org/brain2.html cites a study done by Miles Herkenham, in which they found that:
A single 10-milligram dose of nonpsychoactive CBD for a one-kg rat actually increased the density of receptor sites by 13% and 19% in two key areas of the brain: the medial septum/diagonal band region and the lateral caudate/putamen - both motor-control areas.
I've tried to find the study, and I think this is it (not entirely sure though, as he's made several similar studies, and the aforementioned article doesn't provide any clear reference): http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/000689939390220H
Unfortunately (as when it comes to most studies like these) you need to pay $36 to see the full text :/
Is it gonna be worth it? And I won't.
Worth it!? lmao 150mg won't even do anything besides knock you out, it's just not good on the liver, even says on my box not to take with alcohol, but I have in small doses like that and been fine, you'll prolly just puke and pass out.

Haha well shit, that's what I get for acting sure when taking guesses based off of wikipedia :v:
thanks for the info, I suppose it always seemed more likely to me that people weren't smoking properly, than there being some key difference in certain people's brains. Definitely remember this if I ever get into this discussion again

Light visuals, interesting body high. Only had 4 beers with it

that''s pretty sensitive then dude, you sure you weren't just imagining it because you were drinking?

Definitely possible. I was also having some auditory hallucinations. Frequency tones and muffled voices
Got about .8g of hash left, never really smoked solids other than some squidgy black.
How much does it smell when I'm heating it for a joint? Saying that, how much should I put in? I don't want to get melted, I want to still be able to mess with the fire staff in the garden haha

.3-.5 should give you a decent high, depending on quality and tolerance. it doesn't smell very much when breaking it up for a joint either.
Seems im immune to cannabis.
Scratch that. Just tried marijuana for first time right now and yeah...
yeah...

If you're dealing with hash I suggest you make a serpentine instead of a joint. Basically you roll a bit of hash into the shape of the letter I, then you mount it on something like a needle, put it in a jar, light it , blow out the fire so it just glows. Put a cap on the jar, wait for smoke buildup, inhale, wait for more etc etc etc.
From what I've noticed this is the best way to conserve hash. I use like .2 or .3g and I get stupidly high from it.
hey zach, dont judge because of my little apap escapade that was unrelated to the codeine, you seem to be the opiate expert so ive got another q but it might be hard to answer
a friend has 120mg dihydrocodeine, hes never done opiates before, hes a pretty big guy and thus normally has a pretty high tolerance to things, you got any experience with this?

are they extended release or instant?

ir

Well I've honestly never had any, but from what I've read you could start at 45-60mg they're the 30mg pills right? it's weird cause apparently DHC is like codeine but stronger so if 60mg don't do anything for you double that, but always start low with opiates, you caught me on like one of the few opiates I don't have much experience with and I don't want to tell you too much. Actually after doing a little reading, your friend could probably do 90 and feel nice if he has no tolerance.

right on, i heard it had a 20% oral bioavailability which might be a problem though

Tell him to shove it up his ass haha, then again that might not go over too well

having just tried this i can contest that this is indeed hash best way guarantee i am just a collection of single celled organisms floating through space

Oh shit, where were you before I spent hours warming and crumbling it all into a joint. That sounds better in every way

Well, now you know for next time!
Alright, drug related health question here. About a month ago I took 20 tylenol #3 over the course of 1 night and 1 day. At 300mg a tablet, this amounted to 6000mg of acetaminophen over two days. I've read that the maximum daily dose of acetaminophen is 3000mg a day. After those couple of days my stomach hasn't really felt right, I can't eat nearly as much as I could before, my stomach hurts at some times for no apparent reason and when I do eat a lot, it hurts to deeply inhale.
Did I give myself an ulcer? I'm not telling the doctor cause I still want him to give me T3's.

What happened is you put your liver through some hell, I've done it myself, stupidly. Took 22~ 5/325 Percocet over only like 12 hours :\ If your skin starts to turn yellow or you can't stop puking, then you might have done some serious liver damage. You might have done some damage to the lining of your stomach and caused an ulcer or something similar, or you might have damaged your liver. I'd go see a doctor and have a blood test done, just tell them you were really sick with the flu and unthinkingly took 20 regular Tylenols in the same time period without realizing it
I don't think that story will fly, I want my dr to feel as liberal as possible when giving me a scrip, since a month the stomach pains have gotten a lot better but I still can't eat very much

If you didn't do that often, you shouldn't have done any permanent damage, and if you say it's getting better, that's good, but you could still go to the doctor and just complain of stomach pains and lack of appetite without giving a possible reason.

Are you willing to risk your health for that prescription?
