The Official Questions Thread Version: "Charlies in the trees, what do I need to get rid of them?"

Yeah, when you get the gun, the wires should have a gauge printed on them (should say XX AWG). Just go to a hardware store and get the heat shrink tubing that's labeled for whatever gauge your wires say they are.
The two gripes I have with xt60s are that they're uncommon as fuck in airsoft, so don't plan on sharing batteries or chargers with anyone, and two since they are slightly larger than deans you may have issues with guns that have small battery compartments. For example the hole in my AK's receiver that I have to feed the wiring through to get it to the stock was a tad bit too small for deans, so I had to file down the sides of the connectors a good bit. I'd only imagine XT60s might not have worked at all. Other than that though they seem like a solid choice, and since you're starting from scratch (so you don't need to rewire dozens of guns and batteries, as the case would be for me) and because the two aforementioned problems are pretty negligible, I recommend going with XT60s
Ehm hi,
I'm a newb faggot and you guys will probally laugh at me for being stupid but yesh.
If my replica has an innerbarrel size of .. lets say 370mm .. is it okay for me to put in a new one sized 350mm?
I can imagine the bb's hitting the outerbarrel because hopup but yeah.. thought I'd ask the experts for their opinion.
Care to help me out?
20 mm less shouldn't be that bad unless your gun overhops like a motherfucker.
Overhopping mostly has to do with that rubber thingy right?
Ugh sorry I'm trying to learn this all :v
The fact that I'm a factory machine operator for work helps a bit though.
Overhopping has to do with applying too much pressure with the hop-up unit, which means that the BB will have a too powerful backspin, causing it to curve upwards as soon as it exits the barrel.

i like xt60 because i can just rewire my guns and then buy the nice and cheap batteries that already have xt60 installed. also uncommon connector on the battery / gun means less chance of it being stolen

Deans seem significantly smaller, how well would XT60s fit in a buffer tube?

Can't find any buffer tube sized lipos prewired to XT60.
xt60 is like the size of large timaya. shorter, tho.
no, i doubt any batteries pre wired for xt60 will be able to fit in a buffer tube.
actually, this might

Are you implying he's racist because he wants an SS loadout or is he actually racist? Because there's nothing racist about wanting to do an SS loadout as long as you're respectful about it.

He is actually racist, he wants to run around yelling hail hitler
edit: i think he was joking on that part, but still not funny. he makes a lot of racist jokes. I think he only wants the kit for the shock factor.
ok
hope he likes being broke

I finally shimmed my gearbox and slapped my gun together.
But now the bb's fly really slow, some almost falling out from the barrel.
When only firing the gearbox outside the gun; the air-blast is still strong. All bb's still make it out though.
Could the air-nozzle or hop-up unit be badly aligned, thus causing this?

Are there any 7.62 gas blasters that aren't the WE M14?
I believe there are some VFC GBBR 417s out there, although all I hear is bad things about their GBB systems.
I'm surprised that WE hasn't released a GBBR Mk17 yet, though.

I'm surprised too. They have the AEG out already, and with the quality of their externals, the reliability of their gas systems, and the abundance of RA Tech parts, the gas Mk17 would be sure to sell well. Not to mention it would be a first of its kind and I'm sure they could just modify their Mk16 system to produce it.
Hey guys, so I posted a thread earlier but got in trouble for not putting it here, so I'll just do that now. Basically I've been wanting to do airsoft sport and stuff like that for a while, but I'm new to it and have no clue what to do for starting. I finally got a decent amount of money together so I can afford some of the equipment but I've still got questions to be answered before I spend any of that cash and find out I can't do anything because of a rule or thing I didn't know. So here I go, I've been looking at competitive airsoft and it not only looks like fun but it could be a good hobby for me (I have way too much time). However I'm nervous about getting anything because I don't know if I can just join a team or if there's an organization I have to speak to in order to legally have games. And it's good to mention that I am pretty young at 15, so I guess this is an okay time to start but I'm just not sure how people would react to some kid coming in and trying to join them. And when I say competitive I mean for fun, no prizes or anything of the sort, just a fun honest game between two teams. Here are my questions (and yes I read the megathread, it's pretty damn big so if I mention something that was already touched on just bare with me):
-What's should I do for training to get ready for competitive play? I know some people get really serious when it comes to this and I don't want to find a good group of people and be allowed in then mess up because I don't know how they operate or I can't keep up. Not looking for a work out routine, just good tips for stance and target practice (distance, procedure, goals, etc.)
-Do you have any recommended brands or even specific weapons for beginners to practice with? I'm looking for something that's decently priced (nothing above $200), sturdy, low maintenance, and if needed can be modified. This is listed in respective order of importance with price being my number one concern and the modification being my last. I understand that modification ability means more maintenance but what I mean by that is it's pretty compatible with different equipment and accessories like sights, magazines, grips, etc. (basically more rails that work with a lot of stuff)
-If I do end up forming a team because I can't find a group that will let me in, how should I go about finding competition? I think I may have mentioned this before but I'll say it again, I'm looking for recreational airsoft, not professional matches with high end opponents who spend upwards of a few g's on their gear so they can be top. I want to play with people who will be fair and want to have a fun game but won't destroy the entire team in ten seconds. And on the other hand I wouldn't want opposition that just walks in with plastic pistols and just rushes everyone then loses in ten seconds.
-Are there any good websites for learning airsoft tricks? Things simple that improve effectiveness like fixing simple jams or what not to do in a match or how to pack light and certain gear that's essential or useless.
-What kind of airsoft gun would be good for a starter? Not models but like, variant or genre (if this makes sense). I know getting a sniper rifle would be a bad idea because they're likely high maintenance and I know they're extremely expensive. Would an SMG be good for a beginner? A carbine? Shotgun?
-Would a GBBR be high maintenance or need special servicing? Does it really make a difference in experience other than added realism?
Again sorry for this being so long, I made a thread for that exact reason but I guess this is preferred.
G&G seems to make good starter guns, everyone I see locally says to go for a Combat Machine, they're relatively cheap. I noticed this stickied so maybe you should read it too, might help you:

Granted I am like, brand new too as I only really got my loadout ready two days ago, but I'm sure anyone else here can answer those other questions.
- search your state and airsoft in google. that will usually turn up a forum for airsoft in your state.
-you dont need to train. airsoft isnt as competitive as you think. there are very few "competitions"
-brands depend entirely on the type of model you want.
-an aeg is definitely the best for a beginer. rifle or smg doesnt matter much, its mostly based on what you prefer. again, youll have to let us know what kind of models you are interested in. (m4, ak, g36, mp5, etc...)
-gbbrs are great fun and add a certain amount of intimidation. they benefit from regular cleaning which is often very simple.
let us know what kind of guns you are interested in

When I said train I meant more like get the group together at wherever we'd be doing the game and go over it all to get a decent plan together, not like hardcore stamina training and getting formations made. That and just meet maybe once every few weeks to talk about how to go about hallways and stuff like that. (Example: In a tight hall with two guys the tallest stays in back with the other guy hunched over a bit in front so the tall guy shoots over the front dude and the guy in front is a body shield as well as being able to shoot whoever.)
I'm really not picky at all when it comes to model. Of course I don't want a pink and blue Mass Effect replica gun, but I'm open to whatever. However I have been surfing around and saw this: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=11089
It looks pretty cool and the price isn't bad. Reviews are alright but one guy really hated it, I guess he got a bad version because he had problems no one else mentioned. It's Combat Machine which is a good brand mentioned by Essante. The product only had like 3 reviews tho so if anyone has experience with it let me know. It's a GBBR so I'm assuming it's gas operated too. I know how to work gas rifles from experience with a friend's collection. I wouldn't mind buying it but I'm dancing around it because no one really touched on how sturdy it was. It isn't all that expensive at $150 but my budget is $200 and if this turns out to not work or break easily I'll have to delay this all even more to get enough to buy a new one.
Sorry for the long wait and long reply, I had to help my dad with something he was working on. That and I stared at your avatar for ten minutes wondering what I was looking at.
ill say this again: you dont need to train. if you want to, just go hang out with your friends and practice? like i dont get what kind of advice you need on this. i dont think anyone here on this forum goes out and practices playing airsoft.
get an aeg combat machine. ive heard of those breaking at the lower receiver due to the plastic construction.
youll also have to buy a battery and charger for the combat machine tho.

Yeah I can see how that might have been a problem, thanks for that I'll look into those products. But I'll say this again too: When I said train, I meant really really simple shit. I don't want to get a bunch of guys together and find opponents and start the game by running in single file and getting shot because we didn't have any plan or even discuss who would be doing what. But I guess I'm going pretty far when I say train, what I meant was practice. Like I said before we'd just get together and shoot targets for fun and to get better as well as get used to the gun. When I asked for advice on this I was talking about distances to use for target practice.
Now after just looking up some AEG Combat Machines they seem nice and the price isn't bad, but the chargers and recommended batteries are pretty expensive. I found a few that come with one already so I'll keep an eye on them.
Airsoft batteries and chargers are robbery.
Get lipos. An Imax b6 charger is like $30 and batteries are $10. I'll post links when I'm not on my phone.

Found this while looking around: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4587
Really good reviews at a good price. Problem is it doesn't come with a battery or charger like some I saw earlier and the price is only for the base gun, so if I get the battery it's $158 total which isn't horrible, but it's getting high since I still have to get BBs and a charger.

Alright cool, thanks. Total is $180.70, not including BBs, already have those. Will be ordering sometime next week.
Are there any 7.62 gas blasters that aren't the WE M14?
Could always go for an AK, there's a few good models out there. Also while not exactly practical you could get a Marushin M1 Garand.
Oh and while not 7.62 if you want to be captain-king of the cool kids at a low, low price you could get this: http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Classic_Rifles_Marushin_Marushin_M1_Carbine_6mm_CO2_Plastic_Stock_Wooden_Look_Version_Export_version.htm
The fact that I've never owned a GBBR still haunts me, but I don't play enough to justify getting one.
So my friend just revealed to me that his father has an importers license for airsoft shiet. Now I realize why he as like 9 TMs in Canada. So since I can get guns for near factory price now, what should I get. I have lots of money saved and would like a hipster gnu
