How much would it cost to replace either of these?
not very much. a few dollars.
not very much. a few dollars.
Sweet, was getting ready for the worst with like 100+$
On a sidenote, why isn't this site included in the OP/Megathread? Seems to have quite a few decent items and matching prices, along with overall good review scores to match.
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/g-p-troy-battle-9-inch-rifle.html
I jizzed when I first held this thing. Its 700 dollars locally, and for that price I might as well get a vfc or something
That price made me do a SERIOUS double-take when I first read it. Then I saw the Canadian flag and all was made clear.
At any rate, go G&P if you want an M4/M16, go VFC if you want an AK (they re-released their AK-74 and AKM so you can still get them) or a SCAR. I've also heard good things about VFC's new MP5 (the AEG version, not GBB) with a functional three-round-burst function in addition to the normal safe/semi/auto, but I've never personally used one.
And on the note of AKs if you want a model VFC doesn't make anymore, go with LCT or E&L. LCT I've personally owned and is the modern descendant of the old Inokatsu/Guarder kits, E&L I've never owned but have heard nothing but good about them and some say their build quality is on par with RealSword.
So my friend got a really expensive G&P, and his hop-up didn't work at all. It was shooting really pathetically for a 700 dollar rifle. He told the place that sold it to him (Toronto airsoft maybe?) and they said that G&P's have a really bad stock hop-up. I think that sounds like a bullshit excuse and they didn't want to honor the warranty.
I've never had any problems with any brand-new G&Ps I've ever bought. I'm calling bullshit on that too.
Okay, going to my first ever airsoft match soon, but should i buy my own gear, or rent it out just this once?
Depends on whether or not you have any inclination to continue playing after this first game. If you don't, or you're not sure whether or not you want to play for a while, then don't waste your money buying all your own stuff and just rent. But if you already know airsoft is something you might wanna get into for more than just a game or two, go ahead and get your own stuff.
Depending on what you like and how much you can afford to spend, the people here on this forum can guide you towards guns and gear that will suit you.
[editline]3rd November 2014[/editline]
As an addendum, even if you do know you want to play more than a few games of airsoft, you may want to consider renting for the first 2-3 games to give yourself a feel for what you want in a gun and equipment.
You may find you don't like a certain style of gun or you end up wanting to play at a certain range (e.g. CQB or long-range/field)
Also pay attention to how much ammo you use so you can decide whether you want to go with hicaps (I personally hate them, though, and so do a lot of other experienced players) or midcaps/lowcaps, as well as how many of them you need to carry per game based on your ammo usage.
Alright, Its a thing i want to get into so i'll rent the first 2-3 games, but uh, any good air soft stores for gear in the UK, as the only decent one I've seen is flecktarn.co.uk, but is there any others?
There's a list in the sticky IIRC.

www.Sofmilitary.co.uk has some nice stuff on it. Plus their customer service is ace, some of their stuffs a bit pricy but they're a fantastic dealer.
If you want variety, www.military1st.co.uk has everything under the sun and their prices aren't bad, shippings often free too.
There's also www.kitmonster.co.uk, they're a bit on the expensive side but they have this epiphany to only stock stuff they would use, none of the cheap shit that will rip the moment it touched a rock. Customer service is decent as well.
Of course, its always worth checking out milsurp shops near you. I've found some fantastic deals in my local. Also sites normally sell stuff for good prices due to the fact it doesn't include shipping, place near me was selling MK IVa Osprey plate carrier with a few pouches for £55. Another great thing about buying from sites is they often sell weapons for decent prices and, as long as you're over 18, they'll sell a regular player realistic looking weapons without UKARA, thats the case with sites near me but you'll have to check near you.
But if you're over 18 and planning to start airsofting, on your first trip, ask for a UKARA application form, get a stamp or a signature from a staff member each game, then send off the paperwork when you have three and you'll be free from the tyranny of the Violent Crime Reduction Act and get yourself a gat that can't be seen from space like mine.
General consensus on g&p m4? I want the troy one but my tech said g&p is pretty bad/offspec
Get a new tech.
aisan g&ps are. evike g&p guns are factory seconds lol
It's been suggested a couple places I've read that the factory seconds have all been processed through and that proper ones are coming into the states, but that's simply hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt.

This may be plausible, because most G&P's I've seen have ONLY suffered from snapped gear shafts, shattered pistons, and hop-up issues. I put a Prowin unit, G&G Green, SCS, and Prommy 6.03 in mine and it shot forever until I got rid of it. If someone told me G&P's had hop up problems out of the box I would believe them.
I fucking love my G&P. One of the most solid rifles I own.
I will once again attest to my G&P WOC being the sturdiest airsoft gun I have ever owned. Never had a single problem with it despite beating the ever-loving shit out of it on a regular basis.
I'm looking into getting a rifle to put my mk18 ris on and it'd be a g&p if I didn't have to buy a new barrel but for it(that's out of stock everywhere.)
And Joe's g&p m16a1 had hop up problems out of the box but he put a prowin in it and it shits on people's lives.
Rethreading the receiver is unbelievably easy using only the barrel nut, an ar wrench, and some elbow grease. Oh and lithium grease.

Okay so maybe it's possible it is a common issue. He's putting a new hop-up in soon so we'll see if soul shitting with commence.

I wouldn't call it common, no. I'd say the overwhelming majority of people who never have issues with their G&Ps trumps a few rare exceptions. I have personally owned a couple G&Ps and none of them gave me any issues out of the box like that, and I have a few friends who can say the same.
Except for the Masada/ACR, but that thing's got a shit-tastic hop-up no matter who makes it.
Does anyone know of any shoulder armor similar to big boss'?

Deltoid guards from an IOTV.
Bought a used Redfire Mosin nagant PU airsoft rifle, unfortunately owner lost the scope.
Is there any sites that sell the scopes for it? Rather not pay 250€ for a real one.
My G&G R8-L (Internals are standard CM-16) is making a horrible clicking noise when I pull the trigger when its set to semi-auto, it also feels like it's catching on something. Works fine on auto, and doesn't move on safe.
Any idea whats causing this and how to fix?
I have no experience whatsoever with internals, be gentle.
How do you guys feel about wearing unit patches on an impression
I feel anyone who gives you shit for it is clearly looking for something to get buttmad over and you need to hand them a dictionary and tell them to look up what an impression actually is.
That being said, there's a difference between playing dress-up and doing an impression. If it's an impression you damn well better have all your shit squared away down to the finest detail, because you're doing those men an honor by trying to represent the "real" them.
I also know quite a few veterans who couldn't care less about unit patches. Typically where you'll get into some serious shit is trying to wear awards and citations. If you didn't earn it, don't wear it.
I just dont use unit patches in any impression but I dont care if someone else does.
Does anyone have any idea about what Ballahack spends on buildings? I've got the land to start a field and I want to focus on growing actual milsim in texas and some buildings would be great. Though I've looked at the buildings that consist of just the frame and then they have tarp for walls and potentially ceilings I think full wood buildings are worth looking at as well.

Look at pricing for sheets of weather treated plywood, I'd go for like half-inch, use 2x4's for the frame and then the walls can be that.
for me, unit patches on an impression is fine, but other wise its a no go
rank is never okay to wear unless you have earned it.
Even if it's:"Sergeant of the Master Sergeants Most Important Person of Extreme Sergeants to the Max!"?
Would you guys say this is a decent first Airsoft gun? http://www.evike.com/products/28775/
I've been looking to get into Airsoft for a while now and now that I have the money, I'm looking for a good gun. A friend of mine says I'd be better off with a G&G (http://www.evike.com/products/32944/) That one to be exact.
The G&P is much much nicer. Also please don't get a solid tan gun.
[editline]5th November 2014[/editline]
I mean, get whatever you like, but take a good hard look at that tan gun before you get it.
