The Official Questions Thread Version: "Charlies in the trees, what do I need to get rid of them?"

My friend is offering me a brand new in box KC02 for $200, I'm not quite ready for a gbbr yet but considering I have eyed this thing for a while, and its around $400 for me after taxes if I get it brand new. Should I make this impulse purchase? or do you think I would regret it. I do need a light rifle like that.
GBBR's are easier than you'd probably expect, but I can't speak for that one in particular. Kath or Deathmog might have some input.
I agree. Everyone gives GBBR's shit for needing "constant maintenance" or whatever but I've never had so much as a single issue with any of mine.

You just treat it like a real gun instead of like a mechanical toy. Simple as that. Clean and lube, and it basically takes care of itself.
More of a "i dont feel like spending 30 dollars per mag plus needing parts like an NPAS to field it." then a "too lazy to clean"
edit: but i do want it. I just don't know if I am going to want to devote all my cash to those parts.
I'll send you an NPAS for the cost of shipping if it'll take a WE one.

And if it even needs one. Has this friend ever had it chrono'd?
I feel like that's a great first GBBR. Kick probably isn't anything to write home about but it's supposedly very reliable and many people use them as DMRs so it must shoot well. Looks sick as fuck too

I had one, and it was neat. I suffer from not being able to use GBBRs for half the year so I resold it after a while, but it was really neat. Mine was full auto modded which I wouldn't recommend unless you really need it, it's actually a decent shooter and fairly efficient with a decently light bolt and short bolt travel. For $200 I'd ask him to drop it down a bit, but that's just me. Since you're in canada I would.

Well actually that's the brilliance of it: It's entirely mechanical so working out what's gone wrong is super easy, and replacing what's broken usually only requires patience as it's really hard to actually break something yourself. The problem is simply internals - I'd say pretty much every brand bar possibly Vipertech really need an extra $150-200 spent on them to get them truly up to scratch, but that's just me.
As you say, basic, regular maintenance and they're bulletproof.
Does anyone here know if any company makes .223/.222 AK style magazines? Im looking for a couple for a build Im making.
I heard somewhere that cyma's galil mags fit in AK's.
only those and the bulgy/magpul brand magpul type ribbed ones
only those and the bulgy/magpul brand magpul type ribbed ones
They're not magpul though they're literally Bulgarian mags with a magpul baseplate grafted onto them.

In fact I wonder if you could put normal AK mag baseplates on the airsoft ones.
Say, are there any particular brands of spray paint that people would reccomend for giving their AEG a new coat?
Halfords do their own range of ultra flat camo paint its a bit more expensive than krylon gives the same finish but doesn't come in as many colour's but easier to get in the UK.
Ok, I know I post a lot about MP7s, but this has kind of been bugging me for a while, My TM MP7 AEG/P/Whatever shoots a whopping 220fps. Is this normal? It's not like it doesn't do its job, it's just that I feel like it's a little low, even for a TM.
all full-size TMs shoot at 280 ootb and the MP7 has a tiny midget gearbox
basically yeah

These are 5.45, not .223. They're styled after Polish mags, from the Tantal if memory serves.
So I am looking for a good pair of kneepads, preferably lightweight, and don't buch up and cut off circulation to your legs when crouched, have tried a few different kinds but haven't had any luck, any suggestions?

Both mags I linked are 5.45 and Yes those are Tantal style mags, since neither are marked 5.45 I'd say they are close enough for airsoft, especially considering nobody makes 'dedicated' 5.56 for mags for airsoft AK's (AFAIK)

Which reminds me a few years ago I took a picture to illustrate why AEP's are not particularly powerful.

the bulgarian/mag-k ones are 5.56
look at the curvature

also recoil shock ak102 if you hate having money
the bulgarian/mag-k ones are 5.56

The difference in curvature (if at all) is utterly negligible, I have Bulgarian Waffle mags that are marked 5.45X39 and if there's a difference I can't see it, I might have to get some of the those CYMA ones to compare.

(click for bigger)
5.56 NATO in the front, 5.45 in the back. The difference is almost impossible to tell without having them side-by-side for comparison.

This may also be relevant to some peoples' interests. Again, click for biggur.

Minor correction to the above chart, however: Under the 5.45 section, the bakelite top-left and black polymer top-right are 7.62x39mm. If you compare them to the other 5.45 mags they're pictured with, you can see they're more sharply curved.
afaik 30 round bulgy 5.45 waffles don't actually exist so...?
if you own some of these apparently nonexistent mags feel free to prove it
[editline]9th January 2015[/editline]
oh and yes, i have held the cyma mags (or rather the beta proj mags that they're clones of) next to a 5.45 mag and they are noticeably straighter
Isn't Arsenal made in Bulgaria? Ergo, Bulgarian 5.45 waffles.
all of my searches end up with either RPK waffles or slabside 30s

Those are made by ProMag instead of Arsenal, but they are 5.45 waffles. Maybe that's what he was thinking of?

I admit since this is airsoft we are talking about these could be based on who knows what, but there for what its worth it is.
either way, those are still way curvier than the cyma bulgies
