looking at getting a GBBR, LM4s are neat and all but Im thinking about assembling a WOC and having 7 mags for it.
I see everyone's block 2s and I really like the RIS with the barrel just barely coming out. I dont know how to pick a rail system, Ive got a 13.5 in barrel already I'll toss in there but how does it fit on without a gas tube or gas block
careful which WOC you get
the DIY kit ones are bad
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
you have to get the WOCs from ehobby/redwolf that are in the range of $500+ (without shipping)

buy kjw m4 gbbr
Ive also got someone offering me a KA magpul gbbr with 3 mags for 300. Im just confusing myself as to what is the best in terms of reliability and aftermarket parts. everyone I talk to is just telling me to get the LM4 but I dont know.
King arms mags are the biggest pieces of trash ever and they will always leak and they basically suck
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
king arms gbbrs in general are nothing special
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
kjw is most reliable out of the box
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
ra-tech makes barrels and buckings and NPAS for kjw m4 gbbr

iirc Wulfram likes everything about his LM4 except the hopup arm, which he's replaced (alongside some other parts).
Can't blame you for wanting to avoid KWA, but it does seem like a good option.
Alternatively, you could go for something besides an M4, and have something really cool.
*COUGH* Marushin M1 Garand 6MM with ejecting 8 round clips or M1 Carbine with actual magazines *COUGH*

the block2 has a recessed gas block
Can anyone give me the dumb persons guide to building a M4?
I want some kind of hobby/project I can put money into and decided building a gun could be a good one; like buy a part a month and build it gradually and also learning how to assemble it and how it works and stuff as I do it.

Are you looking to do internals, externals, or both?
I'd recommend a G&G Combat Machine 100%, because while everything about it is decent to good, everything can be improved upon and it won't break while you build it up.
A guide isn't too hard, mainly its looking at things you want, and putting them on, and really the only thing you'll need is a decent set of tools and an AR delta ring wrench.
[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline]
Also, just posting links and asking questions is normally better than anything a guide can give you.
so if I get a low profile gas block I should be able to use a RIS and not have the large triangle front sight?
GBBRs are hard. ;-; I just want to operate with 30rds in the mag and not spraying everywhere.
i dont even think you need a gas block the rail should still mount fine
so how bad am I about to mess up

dont hurt me

Both. Preferably I want to start from scratch rather than taking something and using it as a base.

so im guessing you completely ignored:

That's gonna be pretty hard to do. Small body parts, pins, and screw are often hard to find, even for AR's, and while there's a lot of part standardization, you'd be surprised how good some companies are at making something just slightly wrong.
Only thing I could really think of is buying a challenge kit, but those still comes with all the bits you need, so its not really any better.
I still think the best path is to buy the most basic gun you can that won't break on you, and then set a really outlandish goal that involves replacing almost everything. That way you don't end up completely screwed if you can't find that one part.
[QUOTE=Apache249;41108649]Are there any off-the-shelf MOSFETs that you guys recommend?[/QUOTE]
I'll build you one bby =)
[QUOTE=apoctank;41145755]I'll build you one bby =)[/QUOTE]
I think I'll pass on a BEAR Concepts BEARFET for now.
It's just gonna be a basic model for now, just something to prevent your contacts from burning up
brillarmory mosfets are $19

Have you used one?

As long as you make sure it works before applying it to my gun.
well of course. I'll probably throw it in the PDW first :v:
Ah yes, the Idiot's PDW.

My Hobbyking International Warehouse order is taking an eternity to arrive and tracking is less than cooperative. I want my fake deans and oodles of heatshrink noodles goddamnit. [IMG]http://sae.tweek.us/static/images/emoticons/mad.gif[/IMG]
After over a month, I finally got my HK order today, which was just a lipo, charger, some wire, heatshrink and deans stuff.
Also apoc if you make me a MOSFET I will love you forever.

You don't already?! :pwn:

I will love you 5ever.
So my brother wants to get a first "real" gun (all the rest have been those cheap $40 aegs and some clearsofts, yet he is surprised when they break) so do you think this is a good gun for him to get?

I'm not a fan of m4's but his choice w/e, its ~~full metal~~ so it's got some heft to it, from reviews it looks pretty decent and for the price it seems like a pretty good choice. (I'd say for him to get a combat machine but he wants full metal.)
so does this look like a good choice?
dboys AR
rip in peace
[editline]23rd June 2013[/editline]
tell him to get a combat machine or save more money
D-Boys makes bad M4's.
If you want a full metal M4 that isn't garbage, you're not getting one for cheap. Either save up for a baseline G&G or G&P, or simply stick with the combat machine and buy metal parts for it over time.

I try to tell him to get something that'll last like a combat machine or a cyma ak but he'll just say that "my gun is beast" or "its not metal/i hate ak's" or my favorite "it doesnt have enough rails"

Well then you've got two options:
1. Let him make an awful purchase and hope he learns a lesson.
2. Kick him in the dick, a lot.
I'll make sure to kick him in the dick and force feed your advice down his throat thanks.
Does dboys make decent/good ak's? I've been looking for one and saw their aks74 and it seems they have one with the skeletal stock too
