Music blogs like Wefuckinglovemusic, Holyfuckingshit40000, Ithinkxblog, etc.
iTunes music recommendations are actually very good. Maybe not at first but as you build your library though iTunes it really starts to recommend good music.

last.fm's recommendations are incredible otherwise I use some blogs for my more obscure stuff
I use youtube,because of the "recommended for you" feature,and basically everything.

/mu/, pitchfork, friends, teachers, music discussion, movies, video games, youtube, etc.
Sometimes I use /mu/ but they aren't very useful.
I find mine in a variety of places, mainly the music channels Kerrang (before it got filled with generic pop rock) and Scuzz but also last.fm, my friends and the internet (facepunch is one of the places :3:)

Friends, Last FM, forums and wikipedia.
I find new bands from some random places, one of my favorites (Carnarium, a rather talented Argentinean group), I found out about because they did an Iron Maiden cover and I got curious about their original work.
