But it would be improved if the background wasn't so busy.

My shots of the town's annual festival last weekend are on the local newspaper's website, hnngh http://triblocal.com/lindenhurst-lake-villa/community/galleries/2011/08/lake-villa-days/
Those are some fantastic shots. I managed to make it to Lake Villa Days with some friends, too.
kicking up a 365(ish) project, woo. Hosting with tumblr, themed to fit my main website so I can comfortably link from my site's main bar. Also updated the site a little, hizzah. past week's worth of pics: [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9406611148/1/tumblr_lqitdkrvuy1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9417662474/1/tumblr_lqjmuejESM1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9716412820/1/tumblr_lqwwyjv5pi1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9720856047/1/tumblr_lqx2eoDvik1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9720873651/1/tumblr_lqx2ffAk5I1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9720906614/1/tumblr_lqx2gp3mJD1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9720919818/1/tumblr_lqx2hazOLj1r223xw[/t] I friggin' love the last one [release][/release]
[release][/release]
You can't click this because of the new way images open http://365-ish.tumblr.com/
works fine for me, and we're both using chrome. Hrm. editing up the next batch of 365'ers right now, some cool stuff over the past few days. Got a new set coming up, re-visited a strange place at the top of a small mountain in which fire has forsaken and time has forgotten. Paths have been eaten by glacier carved stone, fences destroyed by foliage, and a bench at the top of a hill where I met a strange young man meditating. He looked like Latir Cole, talked like a wise old native american, and would not let me take a picture of his face, but of his skull. Not sure if I told that story already, but I got better pictures of the area this time, though a sudden swarm of mosquitos kinda pushed me out of the area. Covered in bites, but worth the visit [t]http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqx3b2aOKN1r223xwo1_400.jpg[/t] [t]http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lr3de3C4aR1r223xwo1_400.jpg[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9871672234/1/tumblr_lr3df5wDrR1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9871912243/1/tumblr_lr3eaq2RIp1r223xw[/t] [t]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9871994599/1/tumblr_lr3eloYE5z1r223xw[/t] last 3 were all taken today, ~adventure~
dude the sunset is dazzling [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] also your site has a dope design is it your own?
website is Invictus theme with a ton of under the hood tweaks, and tumblr is a variant of Scaffold. and that set was crazy, I was driving down an old side road and the whole thing dipped, saw the pond on both sides of me and looked back to see the reflection of that barn. Turned around on the tiny road, went and set up my tripod with the car a good ways down the road (its blinkers were on and I didn't want the light intruding on the shot). I didn't get a good one of second shot looking the opposite direction because there was an angry goose that started freaking out and running at me in the dark. Terrifying, haha

didn't you say you were getting (or already have) a D7000? Many of Nikon's cameras (and I'm sure lots of others) have preset Scene modes where you can choose from a variety of situations, one being "silhouette", meant for sunrise/set/deep lighting kinda stuff like this. I shot a couple pictures in that mode to find a good starting point, then went to full manual and moved it in a direction I like. the colors were a bit boosted in post production to better represent how it actually looked (these sunselts are cool but bitches to get right straight off the camera). Looking at it on a different monitor I'm not liking how much orange pops out, but I hope that's just this computer, heh

Love your photos, they're all great. Keep it up!
I was on a mac, that's why it didn't work I guess
