As much as I want Nathan Fillion to be in this movie, I'm gonna wait until we get some official word before I start nerding out.
Now if Nathan Fillion is confirmed, the movie will need Ron Perlman somehow, then it will be the most perfect film ever
add star trek, star wars and spaceballs references and you've basically got "nerds in space: the movie"
I don't get all the people saying "MAL REYNOLDS SHOULD SHOW UP. LIKE LITERALLY MAL REYNOLDS."
Was Firefly ever a Marvel property (I honestly don't know, I'm know nothing about the show aside from Whedon, Jayne's hat, Nathan Fillion, and Christina Hendricks)?
If not, why would anyone ever suggest such a thing?
"IT'S A SPACE ADVENTURE, THEY SHOULD MEET DARTH VADER, WHO INTRODUCES THEM TO SPOCK, AND THEN GREEN LANTERN IS THERE TOO."

I'm so excited for this movie. Well, this and Muppets 2.
It's weird, Muppets 2 is only coming out now here in Brazil, yet Guardians of the Galaxy will premiere at the same date here and in the US. Goes to show you just how powerful of a franchise Marvel is.
Also, I really, really want this movie to do well. It warms my heart to see comic books being accepted more into general life- I saw a parent talking to its kid about the Avengers on the subway- so if I start seeing Rocket Raccoon costumes or Star Lord costumes on kids' wishlists, I'm gonna be so happy.

But it's practically his signature character. It's either that or Rick Castle, and Castle never went into space.

Yeah, but that still doesn't justify a crossover.
Riddick is Vin Diesel's signature character, he's not showing up here.
I could totally see Fillion as Nova (or MAYBE having Mal hanging out in the background as a little gag, ala the ET cameo in the Star Wars prequels), but crossing Firefly with Marvel stuff "because both Whedon and Fillion are involved" is some hella flawed logic.

Totally agree, I think having Fillion play Reynolds just because would be so fucking pretentious. I like Firefly but holy christ, this is taking it a bit far
Mark Ruffalo is going to play a magician in the next Hulk movie, calling it
good god calm down he's probably only getting a small cameo and maybe a minor reference to firefly
it's not going to be "hey look that ship that was attacking us was just destroyed by... the famous captain malcom reynolds!?"

I'd be fine with like, Mal sitting at the bar in the background or the ship sitting in a hangar or something, but that's really as far as it should go.
Anything more would really take me out of it.
The only times "movie stops, *cameo, wink to the audience*, movie continues" works is when it adds to the world building (Senator Gary Shandling in Winter Soldier, Captain America in Thor 2, etc.) or when it's Stan Lee.
How about they give Nathan Fillion an actual meaningful role instead of using him for a throwaway cameo?

This is obviously preferable.
He'd be great as Nova.
I wonder if Darkseid will appear

I really like how Raccoon looks like shit. I don't mean that the CGI looks bad, I mean that he's designed to look like a dirty piece of shit.
Jeez only a month until this comes out. I don't think I've followed a movie's production this closely for this long.
I remember when it was first announced and how excited I was, even though there was only one little piece of concept art. Then a few more bits of concept art popped up and I got even more hyped.
Then I went nuts just scouring torrent sites the very second I heard they showed footage at comic-con trying to find anything, even some crappy cellphone video. I watched that blurry shitass video so many times.
God damn I cannot wait for this movie. Hype train has been at full steam even since the rumors it might exist.
I suppose it's too late to redesign Nebula :v:
Every time I see a new piece of information I get even more psyched for this movie. It really looks like they're going to do a great job bringing it to the silver screen. The best part will just be seeing Groot up on the screen.
