It needs to be alliterative, you dingus.
That was one of the best movies I have ever seen. That was amazing, absolutely incredible. Avengers has nothing on this. It was just constantly awesome.
I wanna see it again, I wanna see it again, holy shit I wanna see it again.
GotG was a great movie, anyone with any interest in superhero films needs to see this movie
but The Winter Soldier was better
I just loved it, the action was great, and the jokes just kept on coming, this has to be my favorite Marvel movie to date, not to mention I love everything sci-fi.
To sum it up:
I am Groot
i now have a fitting avatar
That was fucking amazing.
From that opening sequence with the music to the final scene. Just wow.
Also (End/credits spoilers) [sp]I couldn't breath during groot's dance, it killed me[/sp]
So Comso is in Disney Infinity Now:

did i miss anything?

[sp]Basically just Quill sitting on a bench listening to music right outside the room until his grandpa drags him inside to get the present in the first place. So as Zuk said, nothing.[/sp]
I regret saying that Ant-Man is going to suck because it's about a guy who can talk to ants. They made a talking raccoon one of my favorite superheroes ever.
Was a prety cool film. Also, I expected Drax to be a stupid big guy who is there just to punch people and who adds nothing to the story. He actually was a pretty cool character - he was still kinda stupid and liked to punch people though.
The script was a little expositiony at times but I think it had to be.
Quite an enjoyable movie
Also [sp]Howard the fucking Duck[/sp]
Just got back from this.
IAMGROOT/5
Honestly, I loved every minute of this. The acting, the music, the jokes- all of it. I was a little concerned at the opening scene with [sp]Quill's mom dying of cancer, mostly because I invited a friend whose mom recently died of lung cancer and I really didn't want him to relive that. Luckily, he joked and said "Best character backstory ever," so I knew it was okay.[/sp]
Anyhow, fun movie. Better than Iron Man? Probably not. Better than The Avengers? I would say yes.
Hands down my favorite superhero movie ever. I was grinning from the beginning to the end, now I need to get into the comics.
Im happy Comixology was having that promo sale, I just happened to get paid today too!
what [sp]gem was that anyway? i thought the aether was the power gem, but the one in this movie seemed to resemble it more. could the aether be the soul gem, as it was self-aware?[/sp]
It's fitting that this thread is separate from the MCU thread. It was in its own, brilliant, and original, world. It broke every MCU trope and blossomed into a fantastic Sci-Fi adventure [SP]and a little dancing tree, that was a cute scene[/SP].
Also [sp]Howard the fucking Duck[/sp]
Me and a dozen other people in the theater were in tears at this part. Best after-credit scene.
this is my new number one favorite movie, I should go read the comics now
also [sp]cute dancing groot is the best :x[/sp]

I'm sayin this after every "I gotta read the comics" post.
FOR THE LOVE OF ROCKET, DO NOT READ ANYTHING AFTER 2012

What happens? Do all the characters become extremely unlikable and lose their charisma along with all the writing and art becoming subpar?

Short version:
-The previous run (which is what the movie is based off of and considered to be really fucking good by many) is ignored. In fact the entirety of the comic stuff from 2006-2011 is treated as if it didn't happen.
-Star-Lord went from a head strong leader who always had part of a plan, to DADDY ISSUES: THE CHARACTER. His only character trait is he hates his dad. Also all that stuff about Star-Lord going from a former space hero of old and broken man to the confident and almost cocky guy he was is 100% retconed out. Because having a deep and complex character is just stupid amirite
-Rocket Raccoon is not a raccoon. Let that sink in as I repeat that one. Rocket RACCOON is NOT a raccoon. No explanation. He's just not anymore. Further more, he went from being a likable, loyal, heart of gold, spine of the team guy to pretty much waypool (the bad meme spouting deadpool). He's psychotic, spouts stupid fucking meme shit and """jokes""" all the time, and his catch phrase is "Blam! Murdered you!" The exact opposite of who he was in every previous incarnation.
-the overall story itself is just fucking retarded and makes no sense. Nothing is explained and character motivations are not clear in the slightest.
Long version:
coming soon: I'm making a decently long video that explains every single thing it got wrong.

Holy shit, that is bad. I mean, that's fan fiction levels of fuck up. How could they turn such a badass like Rocket into a meme generator? Guess I'll treat the comic series as if it ended in 2012.

The problem is the writer, Brian Micheal Bendis, is actually rather good. I really like his Secret Invasion stuff.
But he was given the team because he's a recognized name in the industry and people would buy it because "hey there's a movie happening and I like Bendis!". The guy did not want to write the books from what I heard, but the money was good so he signed a 4 year contract.
The comics are being written by a guy who does not give a fuck about the team and still doesn't.
What's worse is the shitty versions of the characters are now being pushed hard as fuck by Marvel and they aren't going away for a long time if at all.
So my favorite thing is dead as fuck.
[editline]2nd August 2014[/editline]
Also, while the movie was very good and I love it to death, it is very very very different from the comics I love so.
The only think it has in common is a reference or two and the name pretty much. But the movie gets away with it because it's in it's own universe and as long as whatever it does is done well then that's totally cool.

4 years of comics being written by someone who actually doesn't want to write said comics. That sounds pretty awful.
Whenever I go through a Guardians binge, I don't even go into the stuff that the team did after the main series ended, no matter how good that was. If I do that, that's the book where it all ends.
I just read the last issue of the main series and pretend it continues after that.

"What's the worst that could happen?" Oh so many things Star-Lord.
So many things.

"What's the worst that could happen?" It's like they knew what was coming up. Regardless, I'm going to enjoy reading the comics up until 2012. After that, well, there's the eventual movie sequel.
