Just gonna drop the links again: You can buy a physical recollection of the first half of the good Guardians stuff here: http://www.amazon.com/Guardians-Galaxy-Abnett-Lanning-Collection/dp/0785190643/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1406969541&sr=1-2&keywords=guardians+of+the+galaxy You can get all of them digitally here: https://www.comixology.com/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Sale/page/2906?tid=B140801001_Marvel_Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_2008_Sale The classic Rocket Raccoon stuff is there as well. So if a book about a raccoon trying to save his otter girlfriend on a planet that is one big insane asylum full of robotic clowns and bunny assassins sounds really awesome to you, then you will love this. [editline]2nd August 2014[/editline] Also the classic Rocket comics is where I started to really get into comic books, and also my mom got me an issue of that when I was six and that shit stayed with me forever until I managed to read the full series a few years ago. So like that series, and just Rocket Raccoon in general, is something I hold very dear. So anyways, if you want the authentic Katatonic approved experience, start there.

I just prefer Comixology because there's no subscription, you just buy the issues you want and have them forever. And the reader app for iOS and android is very very nice.
And to follow up on Katatonic's recommendation, here's the reading list from OP again. Includes preludes to DnA's GotG run and follow ups which are all at the very least decent. Just stop reading cosmic Marvel after the list ends [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/FUM3v.jpg[/thumb]
Whenever I go through a Guardians binge, I don't even go into the stuff that the team did after the main series ended, no matter how good that was. If I do that, that's the book where it all ends. I just read the last issue of the main series and pretend it continues after that. "What's the worst that could happen?" Oh so many things Star-Lord. So many things.
Major spoilers for post-DnA GotG [sp]As bad as Thanos Imperative was I still thought Peter and Richards deaths were pretty good. To me the explanation for Bendis!Quill is that he's the cancerverse Peter and as such I don't have to read that shitty book[/sp]
Thanos being a CGI character is just a placeholder or is he going to be full CGI in the future?
You can buy marvel comics digitally too and on the app you dont need unlimited what :v:
Yeah, I just started reading comic books after watching Guardians (amazing movie by the way!) and I downloaded both comixology and the marvel comics apps on my ipad, and i definitely liked Marvel comics better since i could by the things i wanted (started with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1: Legacy, gonna read Annihilation and Annihilation:Conquest and then probably go to Age of Ultron since it seems awesome! ) directly on the ipad. The comixology app looks and works almost exactly like the marvel app, with the exception that you can't buy things in the comixology app. So far i haven't subscribed to either of them, mostly because i have no idea what benefits i'd get..
lol a couple of theaters have been showing that owl movie rise of the guardians instead of this by mistake how could you fuck up so badly http://time.com/3074014/guardians-of-the-galaxy-rise-of-the-guardians-theater-mixup/ edit: sorry, not the owl movie, it's that dreamworks one about fairies and shit
http://www.thewrap.com/guardians-of-galaxy-explodes-for-stunning-37-8-million-friday-at-box-office/ So yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy is making some serious $$$ right now. Waaay more than everyone predicted it would given it's a new series with relativity little known characters, and it's potentially on track for 3rd biggest opening this year behind Transformers and Captain America (but it could get 2nd, beating Captain America). That's awesome, especially since this movie was so fucking great. It will also have a new opening weekend record for an August movie, beating the previous record holder "Borne Ultimatum" by over $20 million.

Granted I've only read them once a while back.[/sp] [editline]2nd August 2014[/editline] Oh, one more thing. Rocket Raccoon's creator isn't really getting attention or money or anything from the movie and the dude is wheel chair bound, has brain damage, and pretty much has a really lame life right now http://gregpak.com/love-rocket-raccoon-please-consider-donating-to-writer-bill-mantlos-ongoing-care/ So it'd be great if some of you guys could donate a little bit of money or somethin to help the dude out, and spread the word about this.
Just came back from the movie. It was pretty good. I liked it. [sp]We are groot[/sp]
[sp]Turns out Seth Green voiced Howard the Duck.[/sp] Source.[/sp]
actually the owl movie is legend of the guardians, rise of the guardians is the actually decent movie with russian santa claus
this series makes no sense
Finally watched it, and loved it! Only things I didn't like was the overlong expositions in some scenes, the [sp]Knowhere chase[/sp] and Karen Gillan hamming it up as Nebula. Everything else was great! Now my favorite Marvel film.
I saw it last night with my cousin, definitely my favorite Marvel movie to date. Chris Pratt did an amazing job(as did all the other actors but him specifically), and the music really brought it together for me. Also Thanos looks incredible
What else to say about this movie other than i am groot? 11/10
I saw it today, and was pretty much blown away. It NAILED the Farscape vibe, only with better humor and better effects. Yes, there was some exposition to put up with, but much like The Avengers, the movie is at it's absolute peak when the cast all get to play off each other. I knew this movie was going to live and die by it's characters, and I'll be damned if they didn't carry the entire movie themselves. The roaring entertainment of watching the characters did come with a bit of a price. The villain is forgettable. It has the same Macguffin plot as Every. Single. Marvel. Movie. The ending [sp]was a little too Power Rangers/power of friendship cheesy[/sp]. Karen Gillian was kind of hammy. [sp]The half-alien thing was a dumb last-minute copout, though it was funny because Peter had this "Aw, I thought I was just special" look on his face.[/sp] It definitely beat the shit out of Captain America 2, which was bloated and disjointed and abandoned it's smarter themes in favor of another dumb Macguffin chase plot. Guardians knows exactly what it is, and celebrates it. It's a movie about a smartass hero, a warrior, an alien girl, a walking tree and a jackass raccoon fucking things up to a great soundtrack. I would have gladly left 20 minutes of exposition and Glenn Close on the cutting room floor just to get more great character scenes. Just stop typing, slide your chair back, get up, and go see this fucking movie.
[sp]The half-alien thing was a dumb last-minute copout[/sp]
[sp]That's from the comics though. Peter is half human, he always has been.[/sp]
[sp]The half-alien thing was a dumb last-minute copout, though it was funny because Peter had this "Aw, I thought I was just special" look on his face.[/sp]
[sp]it was pretty obvious that was gonna happen though his mom said his father was "made of light" or some shit right at the beginning of the movie i guess you could say that him surviving because of that was stupid, but it wouldve been no different if they had taken that away and he was just a normal human[/sp]
What else to say about this movie other than i am groot? 11/10
[sp]WE are Groot.[/sp]
Just got back from the theater, easily one of my new favorite movies. [sp]I hope the next one is just as good[/sp] And now I have to go figure out how to properly play Rocket in Marvel vs Capcom 3.
So I'm on Tumblr... Why the fuck is this even a topic of discussion Who the fuck cares Shut the fuck up and have fun god dammit I fucking hate this website
I saw the movie yesterday. It was fantastic. I'm excited for the sequel and the direction the MCU is going to take in the future.
Quite possibly the best Marvel movie yet. It's either this or Winter Soldier. It was hilarious, but I had no idea there'd be so many touching character moments. [sp] "I DIDN'T ASK TO GET MADE" [/sp] pretty much silenced my theater, which had been laughing uproariously just seconds before at the [sp] drunken barfight [/sp] . I teared up something fierce when[sp] he read the letter. "My little Star Lord" pretty much sealed it. And then that song. The way he just sat there, tears in his eyes, listening to his music. [/sp] I've BEEN there. I related to Peter Quill in ways I've related to few protagonists before. And Batista was actually fucking awesome and one of the highlights of the movie, to my surprise. I heard he took a bunch of expensive acting classes to get ready for this, it shows. Brilliant movie, tons of fun, lots of feelings, incredible effects and action. James Gunn should direct Avengers 3. He gets the team dynamic way better than Whedon (though I did love Avengers, this was just a better made movie).
[sp] "I DIDN'T ASK TO GET MADE" [/sp] pretty much silenced my theater
Only time I've ever came close to crying during a movie.
I was looking at IMDB and found out that the actress who played Quill's mom also played an autograph seeker on Captain America. Interesting.
The "Come and Get Your Love Part" beginning scene was great
I've seen it on friday night, it was fun! Also Dave Rapoza did a crossover. [t]https://38.media.tumblr.com/689a89c227c3623b7999859a042790a7/tumblr_n9phwnbiyB1qk84mgo1_1280.jpg[/t] Mamamia!
Only time I've ever came close to crying during a movie.
So much emotion in those words, bloody Bradley Cooper.
