I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can, but there is one thing, one deciding factor that will determine whether or not I see this movie, and I just have to know in advance. Does groot say anything other than "I am groot" in the movie? Because one of my friends who's a marvel buff (who hasn't seen the movie yet either) claims that that's all he can say in the comics, and for some reason that doesn't sound right to me.
i AM Groot?

I think my favorite gag in the movie was where [sp]Groot stabs all those mooks through the chest and slams them against the wall, then turns around with a big :D on his face.[/sp]
he's still an actual character, it's not really something i had a problem with
You say "still", does that mean my friend was actually correct? That's dumb. [editline]3rd August 2014[/editline] But he doesn't say it very often, right? Right?
You say "still", does that mean my friend was actually correct? That's dumb.
He works like Chewbacca or R2-D2. His entire species' language, to us, sounds like "I am Groot". But the inflections and pauses and whatnot determine what he's actually saying. It's actually a really fine display of Vin Diesel's chops as a voice actor, considering you always get what he's saying, despite him just saying "I am Groot".
You say "still", does that mean my friend was actually correct? That's dumb.
why is it dumb its not like hes the first non-talking character everyone seems to understand, just look at r2-d2 or chewie like banthafodder mentioned
why is it dumb its not like hes the first non-talking character everyone seems to understand, just look at r2-d2 or chewie like banthafodder mentioned
Oh I don't actually mind that, it's just that once my friend sees this movie he'll never shut up about that.
Saw it on Friday with my sister and her friends. Definitely my favorite of the MCU movies so far. I went in expecting Rocket to be my favorite, but Drax ended up winning out. I was expecting his character to be constantly angsty, but he ended up one of the funniest characters in the whole movie. Definitely going to check out the comics for more of these guys.
Vin Dielsel has likely the most intimidating baritone I've heard.
Definitely going to check out the comics for more of these guys.
Go and read page 16 (if you haven't) if you want to know which comics to get and which to avoid. Katatonic shared some very helpful information about where to get your comics from and why you should avoid certain comics.
Everyone buy? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/w9KUqEX.jpg[/thumb] https://www.etsy.com/listing/198620623/baby-groot-in-plant-pot-i-am-groot That shipping though

And the camera zooms in to Peter's face while he says "Finally!"[/sp]
I'll bookmark it and hopefully not forget about it.
you should tell someone to remind you
[Sp] everybody in my theater were laughing when Korath yelled out "Starlord!" And the camera zooms in to Peter's face while he says "Finally!"[/sp]
HAH YES. I shit myself laughing at that part but no one else really did
I only just got the joke now. Before when I saw it, I thought it was like a [sp]Finally, we meet again. But I suppose its funny someone finally called him Starlord[/sp]
Have to say one of my biggest laugh moments was [sp]"They got my dick message!"[/sp]
this movie is fucking excellence [editline]4th August 2014[/editline] 5/5 worth getting into an hour long shouting match with your comic book fan friends about defending it's excellence
Have to say one of my biggest laugh moments was [sp]"They got my dick message!"[/sp]
[Sp]"We're like Kevin Bacon!"[/sp]
Groot and Hodor, from game of thrones, would have very interesting conversations.
Been trying to see this since it released but to no avail. Hopefully going tonight with mom and my little sister.
[Sp]"We're like Kevin Bacon!"[/sp]
He loves the movie too.
The [sp]Lloyd Kaufman[/sp] cameo caught me off guard Also in case it was apparent enough I finally saw it today, 11/10 would Groot again
Just gonna drop the links again: You can buy a physical recollection of the first half of the good Guardians stuff here: http://www.amazon.com/Guardians-Galaxy-Abnett-Lanning-Collection/dp/0785190643/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1406969541&sr=1-2&keywords=guardians+of+the+galaxy You can get all of them digitally here: https://www.comixology.com/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Sale/page/2906?tid=B140801001_Marvel_Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_2008_Sale The classic Rocket Raccoon stuff is there as well. So if a book about a raccoon trying to save his otter girlfriend on a planet that is one big insane asylum full of robotic clowns and bunny assassins sounds really awesome to you, then you will love this. [editline]2nd August 2014[/editline] Also the classic Rocket comics is where I started to really get into comic books, and also my mom got me an issue of that when I was six and that shit stayed with me forever until I managed to read the full series a few years ago. So like that series, and just Rocket Raccoon in general, is something I hold very dear. So anyways, if you want the authentic Katatonic approved experience, start there.
I was a bit confused during Rocket's Annihilators event. Did the series technically [sp]invalidate what happened completely in RR 1-4 canonically (Minus the modified memories Rocket experienced)?[/sp] [editline]5th August 2014[/editline]
The [sp]Lloyd Kaufman[/sp] cameo caught me off guard Also in case it was apparent enough I finally saw it today, 11/10 would Groot again
I knew he looked familiar. I thought it was just a funny coincidence.
Was there another scene apart from [sp]Howard the Duck and dancing Groot[/sp]?
Was there another scene apart from [sp]Howard the Duck and dancing Groot[/sp]?
No that was it, no one in my theatre appreciated the appearance of [sp]Howard the Duck[/sp]
GUYS LOOK https://imgur.com/gallery/731Td AMAZING GROOT COSPLAY
[sp]I wonder who Star Lord's dad is. I wonder if baby Groot is really Groot or his "offspring." Either way, he was adorable. I wonder if the Guardians will tackle Thanos in the next film I wonder how Thanos will tie into the Avengers I wonder the collector guy will tie into the Avengers or if he was just for the GotG I wonder if the "Howard the Duck" easter egg at the end of the film means we will get a Howard film.[/sp]
