[sp]I wonder who Star Lord's dad is.
I wonder if baby Groot is really Groot or his "offspring." Either way, he was adorable.
I wonder if the Guardians will tackle Thanos in the next film
I wonder how Thanos will tie into the Avengers
I wonder the collector guy will tie into the Avengers or if he was just for the GotG
I wonder if the "Howard the Duck" easter egg at the end of the film means we will get a Howard film.[/sp]
[sp]Well the whole deal with Thanos in the comics is that he collects the Infinity Stones to create the Infinity Gauntlet, and I assume he'll be using that in Avengers 3.[/sp]
I saw the film on Saturday with a friend of mine and hot damn it was great. I've liked the other films in the MCU but this just takes the cake for fitting the niche of comedy/seriousness I look for in a movie. The [sp]barfight scene was both incredibly hilarious and terribly sad at the same time[/sp] and the way each character looked was fantastic. I would be up for seeing it again next week :v:
I was a bit confused during Rocket's Annihilators event. Did the series technically [sp]invalidate what happened completely in RR 1-4 canonically (Minus the modified memories Rocket experienced)?[/sp]
[sp]Not at all. It was all a wacky matrix simulation to entertain the loonies. It still happened and everything. 1-4 is pretty much just a movie Rocket starred in, for all intents and purposes.[/sp]

1 [sp]The ruler of an empire in the comics. If you read the shitty comics he's a poorly explained villain. In the classic series he's a total bro. People are thinking theya re going to do a mix of the "master of the sun" who gave star-lord his powers in the classic series mixed with dick-dad in the new shit.[/sp]
2[sp]It's still Groot. One of his powers is as long as he gets replanted and watered, he re-grows.[/sp]
3[sp] They won't.[/sp]
4[sp] 4th movie. Most likely a team up.[/sp]
5[sp]Just for GotG prolly.[/sp]
6[sp]It was just a joke. Gunn said so on Twitter.[/sp]
6[sp]It was just a joke. Gunn said so on Twitter.[/sp]
Not sure if I should be glad or disappointed.

What he actually said:
@JamesGunn: .@eonline @Isaac_O_C_A The end tag was just me having a bit of fun. At the end of the day, we don't take ourselves too seriously.
It isn't as black and white as you said it.
Well, saw this with my little sister yesterday. I went in knowing only that Lee Pace was going to be the bad guy, and having a general idea of what all the characters looked like.
I quite enjoyed it. The opening credits were really, really well done.

[sp]The collector guy was in the end of thor 2, he was given the tessaract to keep it safe[/sp]
got back from this and it is awesome, groot is now my favorite superhero
So can we all agree that the [sp]Blacklight/Jackson Pollock[/sp] joke was the best joke in the movie?
that was really raunchy for a marvel movie
I think that one might have got the most laughs on the theater I was at.
Drax was such a fucking funny character, holy shit I wasn't expecting to be laughing so much at his lines.
[sp]nothing goes over my head, my reflexes are too fast[/sp]
IGN has no idea what they are talking about again. CAUTION, spoilers in the video:

Oh my god, they are speculating over nothing. Then again, this is just the normal cycle for IGN.

I know nothing about the comics or the characters before seeing the movie other than knowing that it's a Marvel Universe movie. So the only theory I was left with from hints in the movie was [sp]when Yondu said, "Yeah, his father was an asshole" + his father was "something ancient" = Maybe Loki?[/sp]
But like I said, I know nothing about Marvel comics other than what I have seen in the movies. So I'm left to consider only those who have had movies already.
[sp]when Yondu said, "Yeah, his father was an asshole" + his father was "something ancient" = Maybe Loki?[/sp]
That would be terrible.
At the end when Starlord [sp]opens the present from his mom, and Ain't No Mountain High Enough plays... beautiful, possibly the best use of a song totally elevating the emotional impact of a scene[/sp]

Absolutely not Loki (that'd be dumb as hell), Cosmic Marvel is like, a different thing ENTIRELY to normal Avengers Marvel.
[sp]Peter is part Spartoi, and his father is the ruler of the Spartoi empire, J'son of Spartax[/sp]
Missed the opening weekend but saw it tonight.
There were some odd bits, two scenes in particular I thought they rushed or didn't take the time to really make it stick but honestly, it did the best it could considering it had to go through tons of exposition just to be able to tell it's story. [sp]Two scenes being the very beginning with Peter's mom passing, and Groot forming the shield at the very end seemed to happen too fast. Rocket went from being barely conscious to being completely fine; I know the ship was crashing but it just felt rushed.[/sp]
That said, I loved the hell out of it. Mainly the characters, I loved them all way more than I thought I would. Drax especially; like mentioned earlier, I thought he'd be just an angsty thug the whole time but his species communicating things so literally made him so awesome and hilarious early on.
And I'm SO glad it made Rocket almost, if not the smartest one there in terms of tactics. In the trailers, it seemed like his character was in danger of being the movie's comic relief but he was awesome instead. (Besides, everyone shared the comic relief.)
I really liked [sp]the bar scene,[/sp] and I wanted more of that honestly. I know they're the Guardians of the Galaxy but I hope the next film is a bit smaller, so it can focus on the characters a bit more. (Hopefully it'll do that by default just by not having to introduce everybody.) I guess it's great it managed to do what it did with them now though, because I definitely want to see a lot more of all of them.
[sp]Peter's present from his mom needed a bit more time to grow as a subplot. It was in the very beginning, a short couple seconds in the middle, and then in the very end. Which... maybe there'll be a deleted scene of it but he didn't seem at all scared about it's survival when the ship crashed, even a small part after it was all said and done and he had time to think about it. I can sort of understand why he wouldn't want to open it, but I don't think it'd have hurt the film to have expanded on it a bit more.[/sp]
Anyway, really really great film. Will want to see it again. [sp]And holy crap, that black-light joke.[/sp]
[sp]by the way the howard the duck cameo at the end of the movie made me unearth memories when i was a kid watching the howard the duck movie, multiple times.
The howard the duck movie was so fucking bad jesus christ. I dont know why i watched that movie so many times but it left a permament stain on my brain. i still hear the ending theme in my head.[/sp]
(Hopefully it'll do that by default just by not having to introduce everybody.)
This was one of the Avengers' biggest strengths for sure, hope it'll work out with Guardians too
I'm missing the opening dance sequence

Like I said, I know nothing of the comics other than what I see in the movies. I'm left only to assume what characters have already been on film. I'm sure there's plenty of other people out there just like me who have no idea what they're talking about and are at least assuming it's an Asgardian.
You know Kevin Bacon and his brother are apparently performing music just 5 minutes away from where I live at a free concert tonight. Maybe he'll save the universe with the power of music
I'm missing the opening dance sequence
Chris Pratt has dem dancing moves
I saw it last night in Imax, that was probably the best film I've seen in quite a while, nothing about it irked me in any way, unlike a lot of recent blockbusters.

That shipping though
I actually ordered one for my Mum. Just got an e-mail saying the order was cancelled due to a cease and desist from Marvel, which is a shame.
Saw it, loved it. Oh god bring me the next.
I think they might be changing Peter's dad from[sp]Jason of Spartax to Adam Warlock because ancient alien, made of light (Adam Warlock has yellow skin), like an angel(The guy is pretty much space Jesus) and his cocoon was spotted in the Collectors room in Thor TDW[/sp].
Also I was sure I saw Beta Ray Bill in the Collectors collection but it may have just been a coincidence since he had a strange shaped yellow head, was wearing a red shirt which kinda looked like a cape and looked pretty damn muscular.
And Cosmo better return along and bring Adam Warlock, Jack Flagg and either Mantis or Bug in 2.
'C'mon man, we need to stay for the after credits scene'
'No, we don't, Super, you always make me stay for these. They're always rubbish. Or don't happen.'
'It's a MARVEL film, of course there's going to be an after credit scene. And it's going to be great!'
'Fine, but if you make me wait 5 minutes for nothing, you're dead.'
Worth it.
Thanos will get the [sp]infinity stones from the Nova Corps and The Collector[/sp] at some point (hopefully in the sequel).
When Thanos gets the infinity gauntlet in the comics the storyline basically becomes "OKAY EVERYONE, RUN AWAY"
Not very fun to watch in my opinion.
So I got caught up enough in the Guardians hype to buy the mobile game and damn it's actually really fun. I fully recommend it to anyone who's thinking about getting it.
[editline]7th August 2014[/editline]
Also I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but there's a chance a good Guardians comic may be starting in October.
Dan Abnett, one of the lead 2 writer of the 2008 run is going to be writing Guardians 3000 which will be based upon the original Guardians of the Galaxy team. There was a 10 page lead-up in issue #14 of Bendis' GotG(I know, I know) but I recommend obtaining it in some fashion so you can read the prelude.
