I've been hearing some reactions to this film and some people are saying that this has the potential to be a franchise as well-loved as the original Star Wars trilogy. I kinda see where they're coming from. It has a lot of that charm and sense of wonder.
it really is marvel's star wars what with ronin's black-cowl, the emperor-like way thanos speaks to ronin, and the guardians themselves resembling the A-team of star wars
No Gamora 0/10
if they release it for gmod then there should be a gamora
I was rather impressed by this film. My expectations were high from you lot, and reviews from friends.. But, it was better than my already high expectations (which hasn't happened in a long time).

where's gamora

I think this is the movie that, while not a superhero movie is based on a superhero comic, where I felt that the hero actually work his mask for an adequate amount of time. I never felt like Starlord wore his mask too little, whereas you go see a Spiderman movie and that thing flies off upon contact with a stiff breeze and he wears it for maybe ten minutes at best for the whole movie. The only superhero movie where I'm ok with the mask staying off is Captain America because they can't make that thing not look silly.

I personally hope that the inevitable sequel stays the same "distance" from the rest of the Marvel Universe as this one did. In the sense that it is noticeably there and unquestionably a part of it if you know better, but where anyone who doesn't have that knowledge will just see it as its own fun sci-fi universe. Maybe its just me because I'm not too into comics- I like them and all- but personally I'd prefer GOTG doesn't get to the point where they're teaming up with the Hulk, Captain America, etc. I just liked that this still had its own unique feel to the world even though it was technically the same as the rest of the Marvel world. I don't know if there's anything that would stop Marvel from doing so, but I can see it happening given the way they have been handling their properties, I just sorta hope it stays related but not directly involved.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/3w1xhL5.png[/t] I hope in the next movie maybe they go to Earth for a very short period just to kinda go "yo dudes and lady dudes, we up there keepin' shit safe. It's cool y'all" *wooshes off into the stars*

Avengers 3 or something I could see it happen. But certainly not in the Guardians movies.
[sp]"What are you doing?" "Dance off, bro!"[/sp] It exceeded all my expectations. I'd watch it again in a heartbeat.
When Thanos gets the infinity gauntlet in the comics the storyline basically becomes "OKAY EVERYONE, RUN AWAY" Not very fun to watch in my opinion.
the one thing that irks me to no end in comics are villians like thanos or darkseid who are nigh invincable and cannot be stopped in any way ever
There's no way the Guardians and the Avengers won't team up for Avengers 3.
I'd be fine if it stays that way for the Avengers films, I just hope the Guardians films stay at the same level of involvement.
Apparently Odin may have the Infinity Gauntlet. I read a article about easter eggs in Marvel movies and the gauntlet can be seen somewhere in Asgard when the (Thor Spoilers) [sp]ice giants raid the place in the first Thor movie[/sp]

He was really confused when they first mentioned the infinity stones in the MCU because of that. Maybe it was just an oversight?[/sp]
[sp]When the collector talks about the stones, he shows some giant destroying a planet. Is that actually a marvel character or just some giant?[/sp]
[sp]When the collector talks about the stones, he shows some giant destroying a planet. Is that actually a marvel character or just some giant?[/sp]
It's a celestial. I saw someone on /co/ find out exactly what one it was, but I can't remember for the life of me what it's called, but it's some legit shit. Minor trivia, The Knowhere is the head of a celestial. [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Fuck, what Y U NO OBJECT said.

Also, I meant to post this in the Marvel general thread.
the one thing that irks me to no end in comics are villians like thanos or darkseid who are nigh invincable and cannot be stopped in any way ever
Most villains who are defeatable come back to fight again anyway so in a way, every villain is like that.
Minor trivia, The Knowhere is the head of a celestial.
Huh, I just assumed it was the severed head of a member of whatever species galactus is. [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Unless that is his species, I don't know much about marvel outside of the MCU.
Minor trivia, The Knowhere is the head of a celestial.
Doesn't Gamora outright say that in the movie as they approach it? Damn I watched Guardians today with some friends and it was amazing I really want to watch it again.

Literally the only time we see the true Galactus in that movie was some lightning flashes in the clouds so we could see his silhouette. Oh and the fire.
