There's literally no reason for Harry to be there. He's been in every episode this season, and all he does is tell Dexter that he's being dumb, and all Dexter does is say that he is being smart.

I feel like Deb is closer to representing the viewer. At least when Dex floated the idea of Argentina with Hannah by her, she replied with "That's the stupidest fucking thing I ever heard".

god fucking damn it. it dawned on me that this show has gotten so much more terrible than i had realised. look at how breaking bad is ending. all the repercussions of walt's bad deeds. how much damage it causes and how emotional it gets.
dexter morgon on the other hand is a fucking serial killer. his body count is potentially in the hundreds. because he loved to murder. and look at how fucking goofy and anticlimactic THAT played out. seriously, jesus fucking christ. dexter makes no fucking sense, at all. not one little bit.
dad cooks meth to save his family - devastating, heartwrenching final season.
serial killer kills because he feels like it - goofy, hamfisted, no repercussions to any actions, no weight on how much of a bad person he is, everyone who finds out just gets over it.

The saddest part is how the Dark Echoes and Early Cuts webisodes had better storylines than most of the episode arcs the past few seasons

I don't know if I want to watch last week's episode after everyone's reaction to it.
The fifth season could've been the best season for Dexter to end on. If the whole season followed him getting caught and the facade of his life falling to pieces following Rita's death, it would have been a good time to end. The notion of an entire series following a serial killer that [B]doesn't[/B] have the inevitable showdown with the authorities is kind of ridiculous.
Every character in this show is stupid and the writers should feel bad.
