jesus christ what a fucking shit show of a finale [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline] its official, the new writers officially missed the entire point of dexter as a series and character

What!? Dexter is about a serial killer who balances his bloodlust with his fake life as a forensics analyst and not a generic self-discovery relationship-focused soap opera? My god we've been doing this wrong all along!
if only they had come to such a realization before crashing the whole thing into the ground.
I'm glad it's over.
Oh wow, I'm speechless. That was bad as fuck.
What the fuck did I just watch.
[sp]lmfaooooooooo dexter riding into a hurricane get the fuck out of here this is the worst shit ever i also love how everyone is just so incredibly oblivious Dexter just cut's Deb's life support off and carries her into a boat past everyone lmao[/sp]
.... That was awful, even worse it wasn't even a happy ending or a disastrous ending, it was just nothing. Just thinking back to how tense parts like doakes being kidnapped was and what the show became is sad. I am 90 percent half of fp could have written a better ending and that's not saying much.
The moment with with pen kill might be cool, but totally out of character. The rest was totally awful. And when that truck pulled out I thought for a single moment - hey, maybe they redeem themselves with 3 minutes left. But it went absolutely fucking nowhere. This entire show is like a Titanic. What seems like a pleasant and fun ride turns into a fucking nightmare with dead bodies washed into ocean. And when at the end you have tiny little bit of hope left - it turns out that the door is to small too hold you afloat.
This is Blub [t]http://ww2.valdosta.edu/~jlgoble/Sea%20Anemone%20Diadumene%20Dia%2030cm%201.JPG[/t] He's the lovely sea anemone responsible for writing Dexter season 8. Hats off to him for pulling off such a feat. [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/e7XrVNh.jpg[/t] or [t]http://i.imgur.com/zf5s834.gif[/t] The show should've ended right here, with this surprise.
Welp. That's over. At least the finale wasn't more terrible than the rest of the season. Now let's move on to better shows! [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline] Oh man the state of the Dexter subreddit is hilarious. what happened to Masuka's daughter
Here's a list of questions I took during the episode [sp]-Why did a Federal Marshal not recognize a wanted criminal? -Why did nobody report Dexter for doing the exact thing he reported Elway for doing? -Why does the airline go apeshit and close the terminal for a dude with a bag but completely ignore an easily recognizable, nationally wanted serial killer? -How is a man walking around a crime scene trailing blood out of his arm with a gun in his hand not suspicious in the slightest? -How did nobody hear Saxon beating the shit out of a dude? -What is in the midsection of the human body for a bullet to ricochet out of? -How does an unrestrained man get his tongue cut out and not make a big enough scene to attract attention? -Why does Dex think it’s safe to leave his son with a nationally wanted serial killer he’s known for a year or two, but not with a member of the police force you’ve known all his life? Or Jamie, for that matter? -How did Hannah not see Elway get on the bus so close to her? -Why doesn’t Elway just take Hannah off the bus in Miami? Why does he have to wait to be in a completely different town? -How does a man with a bullet in his arm go unnoticed in a building full of doctors? -How did Hannah get ahold of horse tranquilizer? -How does nobody notice a man who is clearly not a doctor clearly wheeling a terminal patient away from where all the other terminal patients are clearly being gathered? -How does Dexter manage to completely obliterate his boat in the middle of a hurricane and yet come out unscathed? -How does Dexter manage to make it all the way to Oregon lumberyards without anyone noticing him from the conveniently internationally available news article? -Why does nobody (especially Elway) question the conveniently successive disappearances of Dexter, Deb, Hannah, and Harrison?[/sp] Though I do feel like the tone of the finale was a lot better than that of the last few seasons. The lumberjack scene lacking a voiceover felt very poignant, as if Dexter is just as dead inside as Deb was.
I could try to answer all your questions but I decided to just pick out the obvious ones (and which were actually explained during the episode):
[sp]-How does a man with a bullet in his arm go unnoticed in a building full of doctors?[/sp]
[sp]He got his arm stitched up by an animal vet[/sp]
[sp]-How did Hannah get ahold of horse tranquilizer?[/sp]
[sp]Dexter told Hannah before she got on the bus that the bag contained food and some 'tools'. (Maybe he didn't say 'tools' but he made it pretty clear that it was about some kind of defense)[/sp]
[sp]-How does Dexter manage to make it all the way to Oregon lumberyards without anyone noticing him from the conveniently internationally available news article?[/sp]
[sp]Why would anyone want to read a local Miami newspaper outside Miami except for Hannah?[/sp] Anyways, that ending :pwn:
Fucking hell. Okay. Seasons 5 to 8 never existed, got it?
this is kind of cool its a cake, if you can't tell
That one got me from this subreddit posted above.
[sp]At first I didn't recognise dexter in the final scene. I was hoping the lumberjack would go into the cabin, find a load of plastic and stuff there, and an older Harrison to greet him or something. I wouldn't have minded the ending as much if Dexter had just stayed dead.[/sp] [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline] Also, this entire season I had the feeling that the show would spontaneously become a family sitcom.
Fucking hell. Okay. Seasons 5 to 8 never existed, got it?
I think we can all agree on that.
What pissed me off was [sp]what the hell they did with Deb. She was my favorite character and not only did they kill her off in a very lame way, Dexter dumped her body in the FUCKING OCEAN! WHY!!!![/sp]
[sp]Dexter dumped her body in the FUCKING OCEAN! WHY!!!![/sp]
[sp]I think that was pretty symbolic: it's what he does with all his victims.[/sp]
[sp]I think that was pretty symbolic: it's what he does with all his victims.[/sp]
It was symbolic, but totally dickish move. [sp]She will be declared missing. She will not get any police funeral, any awards for heroism, not even a fucking bench.[/sp] Thanks Dexter.
i cant bear to actually watch the final season spoiled it for myself what the fuck is this shit
I just wonder if the writers for this season legitimately thought they were writing something good or were just shitting on paper to get this shitshow over with
At what point from season 5 until now were they not doing that? [editline]23rd September 2013[/editline]
To sum up the entire show:
Post-season 4.
dexter should have been found out in the end, even though i didn't want that for his character, is it not what the whole show was building up to? It would have certainly been better than this 'dexter feeling sorry for himself' bullshit.
Honestly the only thing they did right was have the final villain at least look creepy. Those eyes will give me nightmares. But beyond that, I have absolutely no clue as to how anyone could think that was a good ending. I almost cried when it was done, for all the wrong reasons. I wasn't expecting the finale to make up for the whole season, but I was hoping it would at least close things properly. I seriously have a sick feeling in my stomach from watching that. When he [sp]went into the house at the end I was expecting him to find a victim waiting for him on a table, that would have been more acceptable to me.[/sp] [sp]Obviously everyone complains about Dexter no longer being a sociopath, just a normal guy. What makes me more mad than the what is the why, or more specifically the who. It's Hannah that makes him change, but I just don't get it. I believe Dexter truly loved Rita in his own way, but that never made him quit killing people. And if it were Rita that made him change, I'd be more okay with that. The mother of his son and a truly good woman. But it being Hannah just infuriates me. He tries to kill her, she tries to kill Deb, he turns her in to the police, and they just forget it all and get back together. That alone is stupid, adding onto it that Dexter changes from it, and it's the worst writing ever. If anyone was going to make Dexter change his life, it should be someone he has a normal relationship with, not back and forth serial killer tag. If they cut Hannah out completely, and spent those episodes building up Saxon, we could have had a much better ending. We seriously only had one table kill this season, and Saxon's death was the most disappointing kill ever.[/sp] [editline]24th September 2013[/editline] [sp]And Debra's death was terrible too. It would have been much better if Saxon intentionally murdered her, not just a lucky shot so he could make his escape. Him bragging about it, and telling Dexter he should have been careful, was just taking credit for a lucky accident on his part.[/sp]
those puppy dog ryan gosling eyes arent going to give me nightmares

Him bragging about it, and telling Dexter he should have been careful, was just taking credit for a lucky accident on his part.[/sp]
I seriously don't understand how anyone could expect anything decent to come from the post-season 4 team. Season 5 was unforgivably, atrociously bad, there was no rhyme or reason for Dexter's interactions with Lumen, they completely discarded the previous season so they could just start a new one with a new villain instead of actually writing a decent way for Dexter to deal with Rita's death/the Kyle Butler thing, they focussed way too much on secondary characters that should have died or were otherwise removed from the screen much earlier (Laguerta), and the whole thing just felt anti-climactic and left a bad taste in my mouth. I couldn't keep watching the show after that. Anyone who says that season 5 or any of the following seasons even came close to being as good as the worst season of the first 4 is in denial or just has horrible standards and taste. But you expected them to close things up in a satisfying manner, despite the fact that the entire final season was shit? The new team rode the coattails of the previous one and completely shat all over a phenomenal, groundbreaking series and got away with it because a huge, loyal fanbase had already been established by actually creative people. Oh well, their money's in the bank.
