What confuses me is why all the S8 advertisements either showed Dexter in plastic, on a table, or in a black garbage bag. It's like they knew how we wanted it to end and were just taunting us. [editline]26th September 2013[/editline] I mean seriously, with LaGuerta's death and everything that happened in S7 they were really trying to force the idea of Dex being found out. Why didn't they go with this? False advertisement. Bait and switch...
Honestly, with a few minor tweaks, season 7 could have served well as the final season. In order to make season 8 work as an acceptable final season, it would need a complete reworking from the ground up.
In order to make Dexter work as an acceptable show, it would need a complete reworking from the ground up since season 5.
They should have specialized therapists that deal exclusively with Dexter. "Explain the scene to me." "Well, Harrison was playing on a treadmill, and I remembered Dexter telling him in the beginning of the episode not to in a painfully obvious bout of foreshadowing... and..." "It's okay, take your time." "He starts the treadmill... he ramps up the speed... and he falls off and splits open his chin. Thinking about it now... it gives me a feeling. You know, the feeling that someone somewhere thought that this was actually a good plot device."
start a charity to help fellow dexter fans cope with that ending
Call this toll free number, and for pennies a day you can help fellow Dexter fans all over the world. "I stayed up late for Nebraska...What was I--Wh--I--I'm sorry...I need a minute."
That ending was worse than cancer.
That ending was worse than cancer.
I would sell my soul to the devil for a proper ending.

In my mind, nothing after Season 4 is canon.
Rita's death caused Dexter to go crazy, and Season 5 onwards are nothing more than trauma caused hallucinations that never happened.
i wonder how the writers would defensively explain all the hate this season is getting
Honestly, if you cut out the black police officer that got nowhere, masuka's daughter that got nowhere, deb's career as a private dick that got nowhere, the hannah hunt that got nowhere and the ending, it would make a better season than 5 or 6. The pen stabbing would make for a great point to start the "dexter is being investigated" thing that everyone wanted. [editline]28th September 2013[/editline] Also the hurricane thing that got nowhere.

If anyone cares, IGN ranked the seasons of Dexter from worst to best http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/26/ranking-the-dexter-seasons-from-worst-to-best?page=1
Season 7 wasn't as terrible as last one only because of Isaac Sirko. Without him it was awful (or in some certain aspects even worse than Season 8). Certainly it wasn't better than Season 2, Season 3 or even Season 5.
The second season and even the third one were SO much better than the seventh so this list is dumb.
This is all opinions, everyone has own though but I agree.
If anybody ranks season 7 higher than anything pre-S4, then their opinion is wrong.
The only thing season 7 is best of is seasons 5-8.
season 6 was an interesting concept, but the writing was horrible I kind of liked the idea of some religion killer or w/e, but it was executed so horribly.
The worst job ever: being a black guy in the Miami police homicide division
oh no kill me please

. A final showdown pits an armed Dexter against Moloch, who is clutching Astor and threatening to kill her. In a stalemate, Dexter is hesitant to act until Moloch reaches for his ceremonial knife only to find it missing; and then shudders to a halt and falls over with the knife lodged squarely in his back. Cody stands behind him holding Moloch's knife, saying, "I told you I was ready."
They could have done a Dexter/Supernatural crossover

yes
Does season 1 hold up as its own story completely? it's been a while since I've watched it
Just pretend he dies in the end or something, that would be a better conclusion than the original one.

The person(s) who wrote this was born mentally disabled and then dropped on their head repeatedly as a baby.
Just pretend he dies in the end or something, that would be a better conclusion than the original one.
could someone edit the scene of dexter sitting as a lumberjack in the cabin staring at the camera right at the end of season 1 during the scene of everyone cheering him on and we can imagine it was all just some lonely lumberjack imaging it all up
