OK i missed all of season 7 but the ending to season 6 had me pulling my hair to see what happens next. I just remember Deb walked in on Dexter...can someone fill me in on the highlights of 7

Isaak was pretty cool. Oh, and [sp]Lewis died[/sp]. Only two positive things that come to mind.
I believe it was also the season that involved Dexter scanning a dead man's finger on his smartphone, so there's that golden moment.
I just finish season 8.

It's not stupid in the sense that police officer(s) were in very much danger.
But yes this series has a ridiculous ending and is stupid, I can't even watch this series again for that reason. Seasons 1-4 were awesome.

Hey, I started watching the first episodes on Netflix and have seen the first two so far. Is there something wrong with Netflix's streaming of the show or do the early episodes have a weird framerate? It's mostly noticable during panning shots like ten minutes into episode 2 when the camera pans up to the overpass, but the framerate feels kind of slow and a little laggy. Is that normal or is there something wrong with Netflix's version of the show?
Netflix is shoddy to me, I prefer having files locally and not relying on their inconsistent/low bitrate and ISP-throttled streaming

And if you want a show that had the same fate as Dexter you can try Prison Break.
Breaking Bad and True Detective are fantastic. I also recommend Sons of Anarchy, even though it's super trashy. It's still good fun.

But seriously I can recommend Breaking Bad, BSG, Stargate, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Firefly, Lost, Person of Interest, Sherlock, Six Feet Under, Twin Peaks, The Pacific, Band of Brothers, White Collar, Suits, Fringe, Mad Men, True Blood, Homeland, Chuck, House, Game of Thrones, Avatar, Orphan Black, The Legend of Korra, The Wire, The Sopranos, Black Sails, True Detective, The Walking Dead, Archer, Justified, Ray Donovan, Luther, Hannibal, The Killing, Star Trek, Oz, The Twilight Zone, Torchwood, Buffy, The Shield, The Americans, Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, and tons more
Any one on that list I'd highly recommend, its extremely hard to go wrong. If you want more, or if you want more animated (Western or Anime) shows I can recommend more too.

Would you really have not watched it in my position? I had to. If it ended on episode 6 minus the drugging that would have been fine.
