Deadlifted today and pulled 315, new PR. Felt awesome! [editline]16th September 2013[/editline] Used straps for that, tried without them and couldn't hold the weight. Need to work on my grip strength I guess.
Recommend any good lat exersizes? Lat pull downs always hit my arms more. 4500 cals seems about right so I'll go with that
dumbbell rows and wide grip pullups my nigga
weighted pull up master race [editline]17th September 2013[/editline] Also, you honestly don't look like two hunna in those pics. What height are you, Valon?
you either have weak biceps and forearms or you don't know how to work your lats..... I'd go with the latter. Here's an option to differentiate the two; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOFN_P-HQZM 6:41
I don't know how to work lats I need help. My lats just don't stretch out like wings, I don't know what's wrong. I do deadlifts, pullups, lat pulldowns, cable rows, barbell rows, and t bar rows. I just can't seem to get them :(

Pretty much every guy I've seen with this problem is not pinching his scapula when doing back movements. Stick your fucking chest out, squeeze your shoulder blades together. This is most evident on lat pulldown/pull-ups, if you're feeling it all in your arms then you simply are not sticking your chest out enough. It drastically changes the mechanics of the movements.

For pullups, is it better to do wide grip facing away? I'm terrible at those, need to practise.
I managed to dl 152.5kg today, which I'm pretty happy about. I went lifting with my mate and he helped me engage my lats a lot better before every rep, I can see how I've been doing it wrong for so long. Hopefully tomorrow my lats will be sore tomorrow.
I have a hard time making my lats sore in general. I can blow them out like crazy, but they won't get sore. Soreness is not really a good measure of how well you hit something.
Yeah, I'm experiencing growth all over my body and only a few muscles I actually ever feel sore, the chest, biceps, traps and posterior chain. Triceps and back never gets sore no matter how much I kill them.
took your guys' advice, pushed myself harder on deadlift, managed 200 lb for a 1x5 this morning will definitely shoot for 225 next monday
I've been trying to work on my oly lifts so I can be more explosive for boxing. But I absolutely can't do anything except hang snatches and hang cleans because my hip mobility is so shit. I'm so unstable from the hole that I really can't do a full clean or snatch because I'm unable to keep the hips back during the "deadlift" portion. I've also found out my squat and deadlift form is absolute shit for the same reason. I've been stretching every day and I haven't seen much progress. Anyone else having a hard time fixing their hip and ankle mobility?
I hit a new pr on deadlifts today, 125kg, I managed 2 reps before my grip failed on the third. I felt it more in the triceps than anywhere else.

Funny, I did 129kg/285lbs for 2 rep PR today. Overall workout was fantastic today because I had my buddy who is a PT there motivate me. Only real negative was that I'm still pretty shitty at OHP. I don't know why I still haven't gotten the form down. I keep finding myself pushing it a bit lopsided at heavier weights, which to me should be much heavier than what I'm at. But since I've had such bad progress, I'm at where I'm at. After my deadlifts, this mom/daughter duo that was working out in my vicinity started mirrin me. The daughter was like basically trying to hold back showing that she was impressed, while her mom was all like OMG HOW MUCHH WAS THAT?! I CAN'T WAIT TIL I'M AT THAT WEIGHT. Also this dude that was also in the same area asked if was was in the chalk bottle was chalk. He thought it was protein powder because the bottle looks just like a portein bottle. I was like "Yeah, Protein gives me better grip"

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you really have no business doing compound lifts if your flexible mobility is shit. You should be focused on hip mobility exercises that improve overall range of motion of the lower extremities.
why didnt you creep up on dah pussy
I was too much in to the zone to give a fuck about pussy at the time I guess. I now realize it was a golden opportunity to be like "Wanna learn how to deadlift?" or "Can I workout out with you two?". But nope, I was too busy jizzing over my achievement.
That feel when your hands are too small to hook grip. Fingers aren't long enough to get around the barbell enough. My hands are the size of most female hands, if not smaller. I have to train grip pretty hard to progress. Only recently have I been able to pull more than 4 plates without needing straps. It's taken a long time to build up to that point.
/Late reply i know, but this, I fucking hate this so much, I spend a lot of time training grip strength and endurance, if only my fingers were half an inch longer, maybe 3/4. [editline]19th September 2013[/editline]
gotta use that mixed grip son
I don't like doing that, once I go to a regular overhand I do less, and my left hand over and right hand under just feels awkward as shit. I'm focusing on grip strength a lot lately, so I don't have to mix grips, and It's working fine for me.
Is there evidence mixed grip works your grip less?
Is there evidence mixed grip works your grip less?
mixed grip pros and cons pros: you can pull more weight using mixed grip than any other grip cons: uneven traps may develop less grip strength is used (because of the mechanical advantage of 2 conflicting grips) more likely to tear your bicep tendon
i think mixed grip is fine for the most part those videos of guys snapping their shit are probably due to overused tendons/maybe roids idk its not like most of us DL more than 4 plates anyways
mixed grip pros and cons pros: you can pull more weight using mixed grip than any other grip cons: uneven traps may develop less grip strength is used (because of the mechanical advantage of 2 conflicting grips) more likely to tear your bicep tendon
I always make sure to swap my grip over every set, try to keep it as even as possible. The only way you have a high chance of tearing your bicep is if you're on the juice. I honestly haven't felt any problems in my arms since I started using mixed grip. Mixed grip is godly.
Tearing the bicep has fucking nothing to do with being on the juice or anything like that. If your arm is fully locked out, there is zero tension on the bicep no matter how much weight you're pulling or how much juice is in your veins. Bicep tears happen when guys are struggling with the lift and instinctively (like retards) try to help it along by contracting the arm. As long as the arm is kept straight and locked there is zero chance whatsoever of tearing the bicep.
I think they meant less the fact that there's juice running in your veins in itself and more that since you're on the juice, you'd probably be lifting some fucking incredible number that might fuck you up much more than the average joe deadlifting 305 lbs.
Still, no matter how much weight you're pulling, you can't fuck up your bicep unless you try contracting it.
thats the thing though, unless you have pitch-perfect form, you're bound to at least try pulling when you're struggling i admit i wiggle around a little bit and make a quick dash into snap city when i get past 375+ lbs for deads. most tears seem to happen during comps too, when you think you can afford to muck up your form for just a little more weight
