Should be cool, both of us are looking to compete in one as well in the future. Been pulling trucks and throwing kegs full of sand/dirt/water around. Tough stuff, amazing how it works muscles you don't even realize you have.

I still can't front squat normally. I have to do the cross-arm variation, and even then it's not 100% correct. At least I can do 1 plate....barely feel it in my legs since I warm up with that weight for back squats. Mainly feeling it in my abs and shit.
They truely feel like murder. I fucking hate them now that I'm doing them again and really pushing with them. I'm just hoping if I keep doing them, in like 1-3 months they won't fucking suck like they do now and I'll be able to mentally be at ease with them. My goal though is to be able to do them conventionally so [I]maybe[/I] one day I can start doing the clean & jerk.

You should check out Elliot Hulse's Strengthcamp channel on youtube, he has an obsession with front squats and has a lot of videos on them.
It's a gradual process getting used to the rack position. You just have to stretch your wrists and lats quite a bit as well as working on your shoulder mobility. Rack hold is really posture-dependent. But its well worth it, my back squat blew up after I started getting the front squat down.
How beneficial would it be to mix front squat in with back squat (like on different weeks)?

Started to incorporate overhead squats on leg day, lagging flexibility.
Also fuck every gym around here, all that's in them is machines, like, 2 power racks, and the rest are goddamn machines and oh god fuck everything why can't there be any warehouse gyms with basic shit that people have been using for decades.

Well, with squats you get massive gyno, but with bench it works slightly different. Since the pec tissue is fascially connected to your glutes, the confusion stimulates them and cause you to develop Steatopygia; your ass begins to look like this:
