just for the records, gas tanks DO "explode"
liquid gas itself doesn't explode, but the vapor does. when the vapor in the tank catches on fire it starts expanding very fast, this causes the gas in the tank to spray out everywhere, and become a vapor. then it catches on fire. basically a big fireball.

Why? Anyone can make napalm, just by adding Styrofoam (extruded polystyrene), or a number of other similar polymers to gasoline. I've seen it. You just have to add a thickening agent to some gasoline. Not hard.
First off your not a hero for reasons already explained. Second, i can tell your story is bullshit because there cant be a electricity station RIGHT next to your house, because people would freak about about "teh cancer" and people would sue just to get money, so maybe its 100 feet away, give or take a few. And if you think a car explosion is enough to affect an electric station about 100 feet, plus another 30 feet (distance between the car and his house) to knock out power for half the city, let alone your block, then you really are the king of all retards. I'm sure the station is protected enough to where an explosion from a car would not damage it enough to make it fucking blow up unless you live in the ghetto where your power station is a couple of alkaline batteries hooked up to a 2 mile long wire hangar system and surrounded by signs that say "u weel be shot if u trespass". Which is probably so since two men broke into a car and fiddled with it for like 5 mins and you just sat there and watched and only gave a shit to call the police when there was a fire that could damage your house, so you are probably used to that kind of stuff.

Pressure does not sustain any "explosion" it is simply pressure that allows an increased amount of oxygen to be forced into a smaller area (i.e the combustion chamber of the piston crown) allowing the atomised petrol to burn more efficiently. The rapid burn causes a sudden expansion of gas which forces the piston back down, stage 3 of the 4 stroke cycle.
BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion) explains this.
The hotter the tank gets the more pressure it is put under. Eventually this pressure builds up, and the tank ruptures. The pressure built up explodes outwards in a burst of gas and what liquid gas is left over, and then is ignited by whatever was heating it in the first place.
This creates a kind of pseudo explosion. It's not really an explosion, the gas is flammable not explosive. It's just the release of gas outwards at extreme speeds that is ignited almost instantly. There's even a shockwave, but not because of explosives, but because of high pressure.
